Our room was right in front of reception and didn't feel very private, the window faced into the main corridor and not outside so not no natural light in the room. Unfortunately they cannot charge your credit/debit card in dollars so unless you have cash in dollars you will have to pay the 19% tax. Finally one of the beds in the twin room had a plastic cover on the matress which was uncomfortable to sleep on, not sure why they did this the other bed was good.

Excellent staff! Proactive, responsive and kind. Very clean, great shower. Prepared a nice lunch bag for us as we left before breakfast.

The location is a little bit off beat from the center. The room we had was directly next to the reception which was not great. The water pressure and warm water is not there during the daytime. The assumption is that you're not at home. But if you are - you may have a cold low-pressure shower.

The staff was very kind. The hotel has all the necessary amenities as well as 24/7 access to the kitchen which is handy in SPA. The lounge areas were also a nice treat.

The owner is very hospitable and can give you very useful information on the city and its surroundings. A little away from the centre, a 10 minutes walk, it's then very quiet. It offers free parking, which was essential to us. Absolutely recommended!

My only criticism is that our room got very hot and was difficult to cool down.

The host was exceptional, super friendly and always very welcoming. The breakfast was brilliant and we had enough to make lunches as well! The hotel was immaculately clean and in a good location only 10 minute walk away from the centre. It also has a lovely social area to relax in-between tours and a communal kitchen which was great to cook dinner and meet people. Just book here because you won't be disappointed!

All was perfect

The property was very clean , it had everything you need for a trip, Angelica the owner was the sweetest person I ever met, very helpful knowledgeable about the area gave us very good tips , we talk , she was very friendly and took well care of us for our stay. The bed was the best bed I slept during my 3 weeks trip around chile . Like I said super clean, tidy, very good breakfast and good price . Nothing to complain!

The facilities are more than adequate for such a remote location. A clean ktichen with all the ammenties, even a nice place to wash clothes and dry them. Truly a diamond in the rough.

The owner was extremely helpful. Lufthansa lost my husband's luggage and for the trip to Bolivia most of the things we needed were missing. Angelica obliged us with towels. When our transfer was delayed she contacted the company and we could count on help at any time. Very nice woman.

Finding a gem like this, in the middle of the Atacama desert is truly amazing. Angelica is a wonderful host. She went out of her way to ensure that we were taken care of; from arranging breakfast when we had to leave early and checking us in earlier than scheduled, providing all the information we needed for visiting nearby sites and allowing us the use of the kitchen and laundry facilities. The location is very near the main road with great access to shops and services nearby. The rooms are comfortable and clean with the adequate amenities for a pleasant stay. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hostal Desert and would not hesitate to go back. You cannot go wrong with such an amazing hostess and property!

The rooms are very cleaned and maintain daily if you want with a private full bathroom. Breakfast has a variety of choices eggs, cereal, bread, fruits nicely prepared. The place is small but has a cute outdoor area for seating. Walk 10-15min to downtown core.

The only downside of this otherwise wonderful hostel is its location, slightly distant from the town. Also a more eco-friendly approach and less plastic waste at breakfast would be wonderful.

An excellent host, takes the time to chat with her guests. Room was clean, plenty of storage space. Very decent shower. Quiet place to stay, but not too far to walk into the main area of San Pedro and entirely safe

Bit of partying and loudness by the next door neighbors on Sat night however that is a small price to pay to be staying out of the main walking street area.

This is a wonderful property. It is clean and comfortable with many enjoyable amenities such as fabulous breakfast. Additionally staff is extremely helpful with any of your needs. We needed an urgent visit with a specialist that had to be arranged in Santiago. Staff spent several hours assisting us in getting an appointment as our Spanish was not sufficient to accomplish the task.

In the back of the hostel is one of the main roads. If you are very sensitive to noise, you cannot sleep with the window open. For me this is nothing to complain about, but you should keep in mind when booking. If you have the window closed, it is no problem at all.

Angelica and her team are making you feel very welcome and comfortable. Rooms are very clean, breakfast is nice. If you go on tour early in the morning you get a nice breakfast for taking with you. Hostel is in easy walking distance to the Main Street. I had problems with a cancellation of my flight the night before leaving, and Angelica solved all issues for me. It was a wonderful experience to stay at Hostal Desert! Thanks for all, Angelica!
