Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandIf location is important, I don't think there is a better choice on the island. Hostal Vieroto was located in town close to everything from grocery stores, restaurants and the sunset moai! I loved my stay here and highly recommend choosing the second-floor oceanfront room. When I wasn't on tour, I could enjoy my deck, the sunrise/sunset, and the ocean all day long. So thankful I picked this accommodation, the oceanfront room, and the host, Claudio, was especially helpful with airport transfers and setting up tours.

UkraineWe enjoyed staying in the hostal. Maria, the host, helped us with various things, she was very friendly and attentive. The value of comfort/location/price is ideal. The price is low as compared to the hotels, it is locatied not far from the center of the city, near the beach, Ahu Tahai where you can make amazing photos of the sunset is within walking distance from the hostal. If we come back to Rapa Nui, we will book the hostal again with no doubts. Thank you very much!

CanadaCan't think of anything, really. The washroom/shower was in the corridor, but the place was not overcrowded so we never had problems with it.
A good location near the ocean shore and by the Poko Poko beach. The street has a number of restaurants and cafes. We had a great ocean view from the room. The facility has a kitchen with the kitchen stuff. The owner was friendly, gave us a lift to the Airport.

PolandIf you want to stay a bit longer on Rapa Nui, there is no better place to feel the atmosphere of the island. The owner - Claudio - is a friendly guy who will not only accommodate you very well, but will help you arrange trips with the best guides and recommend local restaurants and bars. In the hostel you have a well-equipped kitchen, a terrace and, as a package, two adorable orange-white cats and friendly dogs who will want to go everywhere with you on walks. The biggest advantage of the hostel is its location - close to Tahai - the best place for sunsets on the island. The internet worked perfectly - which is a huge advantage and a rarity on this island. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay here and if I am lucky enough to return to Easter Island, I will definitely return to this hostel.

United StatesIt is a generally a very quiet place, but on Friday night, you can hear the music from the restaurant down the street, but that seems to be the situation everywhere in Chile. I would highly recommend this place for a hostel stay.
A nice place, nothing fancy, but very comfortable atmosphere. Claudio, the manager was wonderful and helpful. It’s a nice place to hang out with a great location just across from the beach, which has a great swimming area. There are Moai Statues a short walk down the coast to watch the sunset. There are many restaurants nearby too. There are friendly dogs and cats that hang out there on the property, so it helps if you like animals. Claudio will happily arrange tours for you with an excellent guide, if you haven’t already done that. It was exactly as the pictures showed, and as advertised.

GermanyThis is more an info - in our case the host was on the mainland and his wife took over. She was absolutely friendly and nice, but (might be the island mood in general - so just adept) you need some patience. Airport pickup took a while (but took place in the end), we tried to pay 3 times and whenever she needs to check she was gone afterwards. It all worked out finally, so no worry - but you might bring a little "island patience". However - none of this really had an impact, but we were worried about the airporttransfer - but it worked absolutely fine! We definitely would come back nevertheless.
The location is really great (check the pictures and google maps) and the host absolutely friendly. As everywhere on the island, there are (well behaved) dogs and despite other ratings we did not find the "surrounding noise" (which is natural) bad. The host also replied very fast for all questions - definitely recommendable. Also WLAN was OK - upload is challenging, but everyone should be aware where he/she is - it definitely worked for communication home!

United StatesGood location--across the street from the coast (but very little direct view), a short walk to shops and restaurants, and a few minutes in the other direction to one of the best sunset spots in the world! A basic place, small room was fine, bed comfort OK, shared bathroom worked fine, communal area was very pleasant, 4 big friendly dogs who will happily join you for a walk, kitchen basic but everything worked. For Easter Island, it was good value. Maria, the owner, was lovely but not around much. Her sister helped me with phone calls with my tour company. Everyone knows everyone and they're all very helpful.
