Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaThe cost shown by Booking.com, include the local tax. But while paying owner informed the tax is not included and we have to pay 10% extra as the local tax.
It is sort of home stay. The owners are very cooperative. They organize a pick up and drop, with good welcome and send off. Breakfast was good.

RussiaStuff smokes in the common space of the hotel. Sometimes the host didn't response on my questions. Host gave us wrong information about Rapa Nui show (working days). Host asked for additional 5% fee for paying by credit card (It wasn't mentioned during the booking). Change rate USD - CLP. doesn't seems friendly.
Good location. Hotel is located on the main road. Room size is good. Breakfast is also good.

CanadaThe facility is basically a plywood shed, with holes between the roof and walls (crawling bugs can easily invade), no mosquito nets on windows (front window and back bathroom window)…no air-conditioning, it was sooo hot inside…staff brought us a fan and told us they will bring us a second fan to keep the window closed…room is sooo small…suitcases are on the floor, no wardrobe… inhuman! Bug killer aerosol was on the table though. They didn’t expect us at the airport as the greeting staff were holding a hotel sign with somebody else’s name on it…when I approached, they made a phone call to confirm to pick us up…the van was horrible…had a feeling to disintegrate any minute during the ride…when we arrived at the facility, we had to wait an hour for our room to be ready…not even a glass of water offered to quench our thirst…I was really surprised this was happening, having in view I got texted earlier morning before the departure flight from Santiago by the property, wishing us a pleasant flight and confirming expectancy…we told person in charge (we communicated by phone with him), told us he never charged us, but to inform Booking that we were not staying in his hotel…Then we took our luggage (thanks God we had carry-ons only), and walked away dragging our luggage in horridly burning sun rays !Staff (two young girls), didn’t even bother to offer assistance to find a better place for us to stay, mind you my husband was walking with a cane!
Nothing to like here!!!…Total disaster! Don’t go there…only if you hate your life.

AustraliaI am not sure how they get the good reviews from, but the place is a derelict, dirty, almost disgusting place. We stay in hostels, and cheaper accommodations sometimes, but this one is - objectively saying - the bottom of the pit. The facilities they list are non existent, broken, or totally substandard at any level. What they call "available facilities" are not there at all, they take or direct you to a facility somewhere in town, unrelated to the place. There is a family living there with noisy kids running around, their dog sleeping on the guests couch, but there is no real staff on the premises at all. The "garden view" is a dirty tiny window overlooking some overgrown weedy greenery, the "spa" is an unusable, broken, dirty tub, the bathrooms are the worst quality, neglected places, with broken everything, the Polynesian breakfast" is a simple egg with a piece of half rotten fruit, prepared in an unhygienic kitchen at one random time, is just to mention a few things. The rest is the same, or worse. We could not stay there, but the owner doesn't mind, because he charges full price for the pre-booked time. It's like a "get paid for nothing" scheme. Honestly saying, no idea where the positive reviews come from, because there is not one good thing about the place, not even the price...
The location and the Wifi facility is good.

United StatesFrom the very start Marcelo was at the airport to pick us up with beautiful flower leis. He took us to the Inn for us to drop our luggage and we went out for our first tour. His knowledge of the island and the history was exceptional. He is very friendly and seems to know everybody. We did another full day tour the next day and on Christmas morning we were up for the most magnificent sunrise to start our half day tour. He got us to the airport withour a hitch and made sure we boarded our plane. Thank you Marcelo for making our short stay on Rapa Nui so special.
