How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The triple decker bunks are a little tough to get used to being 6’4”..but after hitting my head a few times..I figured things out!
It was a great spot there the top of one of the lifts..& very cool overlooking the harbor! The staff & helpers were all really great!

Beds are small and stacked three high so if you are on top it is difficult to get in.
Location of hostel is amazing for the price. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Maybe just the late schedule, both for breakfast and the night still (at midnight too late for older backpackers or early risers, the noise was disturbing).
The friendly staff, mainly volunteers, took advantage of a good price deal offered. Interesting location right at the Open air mural museum, and the view from the room directly at the town and harbor below cannot be beaten. :-) And free breakfast.

The room was very small and one time there was no breakfast.
The atmosphare was really nice and the breakfast was good (not special, but still good). We felt very comfortable. The kitchen was not too bad as well and had everything you need.

It is a party hostel if that isn’t your jam
It is nice being up on the hill looking out to sea. The atmosphere is relaxed with a laid back group of volunteers. Coffee and toast for breakfast.

The kitchen is really dirty (cabinets super sticky and falling apart) and the bathrooms not comfortable (showers splashing around and only very hot or very cold)
Perfect location just next to the elevator, great volunteers, great other guests, free bread & jam, fair price for Chile and very good wifi! I definitely reccomend to stay

There was 3 stories bedbunks which made the bed super claustrophobic and felt like I was in a coffin a lot of the time.
Very nice and cosy hostel with a good vibe.

The kitchen could be more clean but for a hostel it was good enough
The staff was so so welcoming and the „vibe“ of the hostel was great- relaxed and easygoing. It was what you could expect from 10$ a night

The room in the bunk bed was pretty tight. I would not have liked to be much taller.

Unfortunately you have to walk a lot of steps to get there. So just take a taxi and you will be fine
Nice hotels in the hills of Valparaíso. Just a 5 min walk to the city centre. I liked the dorm style because you have a small cabin for yourself, locker and power outlets with every bed. Staff was friendly and hostel clean.

cleaning could improve a bit, although it is hard to keep a hostel spotless clean because of people coming and going at all times of the day.

the rooms were quite small and the beds so close over each other that you couldn't even sit up.
It has an awesome view over the city, is in a super artistic district and has nice showers and bathrooms.

The kitchen was not very clean, the beds were very old and quite uncomfortable, the water in the showers was either burning hot or cold. The bathroom in my room smelled a lot from the drain.
The volunteers were super nice and helpful. The atmosphere of the place was chilled and comfy. It felt more like a home than a hostel. It was not very far from town and other nice neighborhoods. The wifi was good.

The escalator that goes up the hill.is not working at the moment. It's a long steep upwards walk instead...make sure you go to the top of this escalator as the hostal is a minute walk from there...you can see it from there. .The other hostels in the area are even further up.tbe hill.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. It had all you could expect of a cheap hostel. .

I was at the top of a three bunk bed situation and it was uncomfortable to get up there. The breakfast was nice but pretty simple, it's on a hill but nothing too steep.
Nice people, nice garden, good views, enough bathrooms. Overall despite the minor inconveniences, great value for money!
