Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere is nothing I didn’t like. The only thing was that I didn’t know they didn’t provide toiletries (apart from soap).
Very lovely and caring staff. Nothing was an issue, and if you speak a little Spanish, they are very happy to engage and provide you with helpful information. The ensuite room was simple but comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable.

Absolutely everything. The hostal is situated in a very quiet street yet a few metres away from the main street, so you can rest fully after a full day of excursion. The inside patio provides areas where to relax on one of the many sofas. Very nice breakfast prepared according to your taste * eggs, cereals, marmalade, ham, cheese, salami, guacamole by Milanka who is absolutely adorable. There is always coffee and a huge variety of teas and infusions on the table in the patio. Don Francisco, the owner, is amazing. He is caring, attentive, and will do everything he can to ensure you have the best possible stay. The hostel offers a laundry service at an extremely competitive price. The facilities are amazingly clean. This was home away from home.

United KingdomBeing in the centre of town, one can hear music from the nearby bars at night, which may be an issue if you are sensitive to such things.
Superb location, right in the centre of town. Staff were extremely courteous, polite and professional. Our room was spotless and had a very private aspect with a lovely garden view, though we found ourselves enjoying the communal courtyard (with complimentary hot drinks) as well. The friendliness of the manager made our stay a treat.

United StatesThis is a magical hotel. You walk off the dusty streets of San Pedro de Atacama, perhaps having spent the day touring in the Atacama Desert, and enter an oasis! The courtyard is filled with beautiful plants and comfortable places to sit in the shade. The staff is incredibly helpful and really care about every guest. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. This hotel is the perfect complement to the wonders of the Atacama.

United KingdomNothing. Everything is brilliant here
The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Francisco has set up the hostal to feel like a home. You feel like you have the place to yourself too which is lovely. Mariela is so hard working, she never stops and puts an amazing breakfast on. The hostal the cleanest I've stayed in during my trip around the world. The ping pong table is so much fun too. We will miss this place and it's location is perfectly in the centre.

United KingdomNothing, it has exceeded expectations.
The Hostal is perfectly located, right in the middle of town, but still very quiet. It is exceptionally clean, as the staff constantly cleans the communal areas and shared bathrooms, while the room is cleaned once a day. The staff is super accommodating in terms of timing for your breakfast (within reason!), with cereal, yoghurt, coffee, avocado, eggs, cheese and ham and fresh bread every day during our stay (or a packed snack if you are heading out too early for breakfast at the hostal). The staff is super friendly, Sonia was the sweetest! and the realxing area in the courtyard is really nice. They have a 24/7 whatsapp number, which works really well for anything, from potential hot water emergencies (however we had no issues during our 5-day stay) to any other info you might need. They message you a couple of days before your arrival to also give you tips on transport etc, and if they know you don't speak Spanish, this is all in English. I was really happy with our stay.

It’s more beautiful than the pictures! Very well kept, simply decorated old adobe home converted to a small hotel. Very comfortable in the room and in the courtyard. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. The location is great-off the main drag on a side street but great location. Breakfast is basic and fine.

United StatesWe stayed in a private room in the hostel before and after our tour to the Uyuni salt flats. When we returned from the tour and were exhausted, the staff already had the room ready for us and let us check in early around noon. After the adventure of the tour and roughing it in some of our accommodations, it was really lovely to come back to this cozy room on the garden, with a super comfortable bed and hot shower. While we were away on the tour, the staff had also contacted our airline about my missing bag, and were able to have it delivered so it was waiting for me in the room when we got back. We also really appreciated the kind little touches like bringing us tea in the evening. The breakfast was good too! The next day we had a few hours to spare after checking out, and we were able to sit in the lovely outdoor courtyard and get lots of work done with good wifi.

United StatesWe stayed in a private room in the hostel 2 times, before and after going on a tour to the Uyuni salt flats. Our room was clean, cozy, and felt very private at the back of the hostel. And had a wonderful little patio and view of the garden! Even before we arrived, Camila was very helpful in recommending transfer companies from the airport. The staff also allowed us to print the (many) documents we needed for crossing the border to Bolivia, and to store our luggage with them for 3 days while we would be away on the tour. Some of our luggage hadn’t made it on our flight, and they even offered to call the airline for us and get it delivered while we were away. Since we were leaving early in the morning and would miss breakfast, they packed us a snack bag (with quite a few snacks each!) and had tea waiting for us in the morning. We really appreciated all the kindness and hospitality!

CanadaI really, really enjoyed my stay here. It’s such a welcoming and charming guesthouse, with a lovely courtyard and, most importantly, the incredible Sonia (I hope I am spelling her name correctly), who is SO sweet, helpful, thoughtful, and a non-stop cleaner! If you want to stay at a place with a Western hotel chain-like feel this probably isn’t the place for you, but if you want a homey, comfortable, “I feel like I’m staying in another country” like experience, I highly recommend El Pueblo de Casa Hostal!
