Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing, it exceeded all expectations!
The best location for a hotel on Easter Island! We were in a cottage just down the street from the main location with a sea view. The cottage was comfortable, bed was amazing, and we loved sitting out on the patio at night enjoying the views. We really loved so many things - great, consistent wifi, a must because cell coverage isn’t always awesome on the island; great hot and cold water with awesome water pressure; amazing cleaning staff - organized, thoughtful, and always went above and beyond; and the feel of home, it was such a comfortable stay. Most of all we loved Paula. From the moment she treated us, organized transfers, got us into the Te Moana show in a night they were sold out, organized an amazing private tour with Simon on the North side of the island, made custom omelets and scrambled eggs every morning and then took care of us when our flight was delayed. Truly could not recommend them more highly!

United StatesRapa Nui is not a destination that has Hiltons and Hyatts. This small island has small hotels that are more like B&Bs. Our room could be described more like a cabin or bungalow. Clean and safe. Breakfast was good and our host spoke English well. Always cheerful and accommodating. This "hotel" has good restaurants on both sides of the property. It is across the street from the ocean and walking distance to just about anywhere you can go without a guide.

United StatesA smidge expensive (during Tapati) but absolutely worth it.
We stayed a week and enjoyed this place so much we could have stayed a month! The location is perfect--right on the waterfront with surfers to watch, restaurants next door on either side, an easy walk to the Tapati Festival grounds and events, and an easy walk to the main street of town and car rental. Breakfast, served right next door, is great. Best of all is Paola and the rest of the staff--like joining a big family, including the dog. The seaview deluxe bungalow is perfect for a couple with everything you need, even for cooking. We really appreciated the air conditioning on hot days.

ItalyJust a minor improvement to breakfast selection, maybe add more "sweet" options.
New room, all clean (daily cleaning was excellent), large bathroom. They are providing rain coats and beach towels as well. Wifi in my room was definitely working, in the breakfast area I managed to work (video calls) perfectly. Super nice and available owner. Breakfast ok: coffee and eggs were good, fresh fruit and juices available! :)

United StatesEverything was wonderful.
Everything. Paula is FANTASTIC. She helped us out in many ways such as arranging taxis, getting tix for the kari-kari show, making wonderful breakfasts, providing info about the island, letting us know the best restaurants. Her team is also extraordinary including Esther, Leticia, and the man who helped in many ways (don't know his name).

AustraliaWeather was humid, so we had to leave window open, sadly no screens so mozzies had feast on us, we should have apples the spray. Toilet blocked due to roots but staff rectified quickly.
Great little spot overlooking water and close to restaurants. Staff were amazing, beds very comfortable and really clean. Great seating outside for afternoon chill out watching surfers. Small bar fridge to keep drinks cool, ceiling fan and sliding glass doors to access patio area and ventilation. Great breakfast and easy access to tours and transport. Rain jackets and umbrella provided for rainy days. Hair-dryer and plenty of soap, shampoo, conditioner and bug spray in reusable bottles. Great for the environment.

NetherlandsThe WiFi however was terrible due to the think stone walls in our room. However, you can go outside and move closer to the sat dish for much better connection (during bad/cold weather this is not an option). Fortunately, the breakfast area, where you can sit the whole day, has good WiFi reception.
The appartment/room we had in this hotel had direct view on the Pacific. It was very quit and had perfect beds and pillows. Spacious with enough storage space. It's a short walk to the main appartment were breakfast is served everyday between 8.30 and 10.30. The main host Carmen and her employees take good care of you and bring your food and drinks to your table on the veranda. Eggs are made per your wishes. Mineral water is available to fill your own flasks. In the vicinity are a lot of restaurants and coffee shops.

United StatesThere was nothing I didn’t like.
Everything was perfect The manager Paula cooked breakfast for us with good coffee and herbal tea and freshly made local fruit juices each morning. The staff Pato and Ester are friendly, efficient and helpful. Paula made our stay on the island memorable. She gave me good tips for the tours and restaurants nearby all within walking distance. She allowed me to use her phone to contact the airline for our flights. She was gracious, efficient, reliable and spoke perfect English and connected us to a reliable taxi service Jaime taxi service. We had the best view of the Pacific Ocean from our suite. We were within 300 feet of the ocean and the view was one that we had never had before and maybe never again unless we go back to the same location. We recommend this Hotel for your travel to Easter Island.

I loved everything about my stay at Hotel La Perouse! The service was impeccable and Paula was friendly, caring, and super helpful with anything I could have possibly needed. The hotel itself is close to everything (although I guess most things are close together :)) but it was truly the best spot to explore Hanga Roa and the greater Rapa Nui. As a solo female traveler I wanted to find a spot that felt safe and comfortable - hotel La Perouse is the perfect place for that!
