How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Noise from the other room in the afternoon and night, high cost from and back to the airport for only one night stay, high payment exchange rate.
Heater AC works very well, it's really helpful for cold winter, room is very clean, bed is comfortable, well equipped kitchen, free tea bags, paid mineral water service, good host.

Carlos is so warm and inviting and his English is very good, so much easier than struggling with my limited Spanish. The rooms are incredible! Air conditioning, fully functional kitchen, comfortable bed and Netflix, nice shower and close proximity to the airport with option of a shuttle all makes for a great stay! Brenda, USA

It was all good
Quaint, complete with all necessities, and convenient to the airport with very good airport transportation. The staff was exceptional and helpful. Quite a surprise that there was such a high quality place in such an apparently remote location. Excellent value too! Much better than most chain hotels, at less than 1/2 the cost!

Marco is a great resource when first arriving to Santiago. He was always available via WhatsApp to answer any questions and provide general tips. We chose this location because it was close to the airport so it’s in a quiet suburb not in the city center but the public transportation was easy to use and close by to access. Neighborhood was very safe!

Not a damn thing.
Read the reviews. Marco is a spot on a good person who’s interest relies on his hotel and its clients. From personal experience I can say he really goes beyond any normal expectations to facilitate any needs. I highly recommend this place to anyone who’s never been to Chile and is passing through Santiago. You’ll be in good hands.

The neighborhood doesn't offer many options for buying food, but that's not their fault. I was able to locate a few frozen veggies and some eggs, but a longer stay would have been problematic as I am a very healthy eater. The small local stores don't offer the kind of produce and products I normally eat, but that's my diet. Since I don't speak Spanish, this proved to be a challenge as it's hard to ask for help when you don't speak the language. Again, that's not their doing. The other thing is that there are a great many dogs, and they bark at night, which made falling asleep very hard. I am a light sleeper and that kind of noise is nearly impossible to block out. Again that's unique to me. This is a residential neighborhood so there are plenty of kids and dogs around. I set up my computer to run a white noise program which helped a lot.
I particularly appreciated the communication with my driver, especially when a close connection in Houston threatened my ability to make the flight. I got photos of what to look for and we found each other immediately. He also provided me with a local SIM card and twenty minutes of air time which got me to the Claro store to buy more. I got plenty of rest to catch up that first day and I valued having a kitchen. The room is well-kept and clean, and it was easy to check in and out. I also got a very early morning pickup to head north by air and I appreciated the prompt pickup. In addition, he was kind enough to locate a carton of milk for me when he got me to the room so that I could have coffee. That was very considerate.

Las Barrancas had everything needed for a restful and comfortable stay. Check in was efficient and Marco was helpful at all times. I also had laundry done and this was really quickly washed and dried. Thanks!

Lovely small hotel close to the airport. The rooms have a kitchen and you can cook yourself. There is a small grocery store next to the hotel. The owner Marco is very attentive and helped to solve many complex issues! 10 out of 10

The host Marco gets full marks for friendliness and helpfulness. He took care of driving us to the airport even though it was really hours in the morning. Room is very close to the airport which was let for us. Rooms are discuss and very well equipped.

great facilities, close to the airport. Very clean apartment with a little kitchen and everything we needed for our stay. The host, Marco, was extremely friendly, picked us up from the airport and did not leave any questions open. Definitely 5 stars rating and we will come back!

Marco is an absolutely amazing host. He helped us with everything, really everything. He gives us the feeling that we are not just tourists ,but friends. The room is very clean and there is everything you need. Netflix is also nice

They SCAM your money taking a $100 deposit they promise to refund after your stay, but they never do. They always say it takes 10 days to get your money back, but it never happens.
The location is close enough to the airport by taxi. NEVER walk there, it’s an unsafe area. BEWARE, they SCAM YOU!!!!
