How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The shower was a bit small but apart from that I we were very happy with our stay!
It was close to the beach! The staff were amazing and really helpful! The breakfast was big and they were very generous with the portions and allowed us to drink as much coffee as we liked!

I was taking a nap when they called my cell phone to let me know they had free coffee. It´s a nice gesture, but I don´t like that they called me on my cellphone; a message would be nice. The place has an excellent location, but the facilities are old. You need to use the stairs to reach any room. It is not recommended if you have a disability. The fan of the toilet was very dusty; these are minor details, but cleaning it is not hard.
Good location and a good breakfast. I contacted the hotel in advance, telling them I would arrive late, and they didn´t have any problem.

Facilities were outdated and are in desperate need of renewal.
Breakfast was ok and nice terrace overlooking the ocean.

Although the hotel has a great ocean view, it's too far up the hill making it way too inconvenient. When my wife and I wanted dinner, the only option was Uber-eats or a 20 minute walk down into town. The owner should consider offering bike or scooter rentals, because it's necessary at this location.
Cute, clean and very comfortable. The bed was nice, and the upper deck terrace was a nice touch to enjoy breakfast with an ocean view.

I tried to contact Biancas House on Whats App and also via Booking.com before check in, but they did not answer.The pictures on Booking.com did not correspond to reality.The place is very worn out. It was not worth the price we paid. The bed was not comfortable.
Breakfast and cleaninglady was nice.

The place isn't as nice as in pictures, not good price quality in my opinion. Everything in the room was too old/worn and the breakfast low quality. The owners should invest a little bit to maintain a more pleasant place. I asked for invoice because was a business trip, the receptionist guy told me he would send it to me but I never got it.
Location on point, nice view. Big and clean room. Breakfast was very decent, but the lady taking care of the place was the best, very kind with guests.

The water was not drinkable and they did not inform us. The breakfast was poor with very unhealthy products. We had to climb very high stairs to go back to the hotel after going out.

You booked us a hotel that is actually closed. Please raise this as a formal complaint ….1. We had to call you to tell you about this late on a Saturday evening in Chile. Your operative promised to e mail us alternatives. They never did ……..2. We had to find accommodation ourselves. It cost us £92 which is £22 more than what we had booked with you you…………..3, as it was so late we had to settle for a room on a noisy road and we had only twin beds. The room was dirty and qe had little sleep……4. We had several hours of stress trying to find a room in a country where we do not speak the language. You totally abandoned us.
Property was closed. Booking.com messed up badly

Samall and badly implemented bathroom. Bedroom small and next to dinner/breakfast hall, lack of privacy and noisy, Really poor breakfast. They have not put any thoguht into the service they provide.

Owner charged sales tax (VAT) even though if you american with passport and immigration ticket one is excempt in Chile. Property representative promised to credit my card, but when disputed refused to refund. There are a lot of steps to reach the rooms and no elevator. If your a senior you might have trouble carrying suitcase up. We requested a taxi to go from Vilas del Mar to Santiago Chile Airport. Were quoted 17,000 Chilean Peso but at departure claimed it was 22,000 pesos. My daughter who spoke with owner in Spanish was told max of 17,000 peso. Not very professional, but hen we were the "rich" americans.
We had a choice of rooms both which could accommodate a family. Room was clean and had a nice view of the coastline of Valparaiso.
