Edith the owner is 5star amazing! She greets you like a long lost member of her family. You immediately feel you belong. The breakfasts she prepares are delicious all the fruit comes from her own garden. The layout and grounds are beautiful. And she organised for us to have our own guide, Zoe-her niece, who was amazing. We couldn’t have asked for better. We are already planning a return trip!

Entrance to the reception not easy with luggage.

Beautiful garden and family history & effort on show around the rooms. Central location and close to the airport. Nice breakfast.

Beautiful grounds, terrific location, and Edith was so pleasant! For a last-minute change to our itinerary, Edith was accommodating and willing to do whatever was needed to make our stay amazing. The room was comfortable and we especially appreciated the fresh juices she created, they were delicious!

The place shows a little age and the beds were soft.

Breakfast was great and ample. The hostess, a native of Rapa Nui, is a character as well as helpful. She recommended an outstanding guide to us. Both people made our stay special.

We liked everything! very convenient location, nice room and with A/C !!! good WiFi (for what you can get in Easter Island) but the absolute BEST, was the customer service provided by the owner! Edith, THANK YOU!! grateful for having met your sister, your daughter and learned incredible stories that you shared! I am in love with the island now!

We didn’t find any negatives to this property or our stay, it was absolutely wonderful.

It’s a beautiful area, very lush and green. The grounds are very welcoming and everything was tidy and clean. Whatever we needed, Edidth and Bill were very accommodating.

The manager and the sneaky way she behaves. All smiles and a real "sting in the tail" after the stay at checkout time. Charged US$125 for a basic Christmas meal without any notice of the extortionate charge! Half the meal wasn't even cooked by her or her staff!

The location wasn't too bad. It was at least quiet.

My main complaint is that breakfast starts at 8:30 AM. If you want the owner's highly rated breakfast, that is when you will start discussing breakfast with her, and she does like to chat. Guides are required to visit anywhere in the National Park, i.e., most of the island. Pickup time for my daily group tours was 9:00-9:30. I was lucky to get two pieces of toast and a cup of coffee by 8:45 on the mornings of my tours. Luckily, when I explained about breakfast, Green Island Tours agreed to pick me up last so I could at least swallow my toast before pickup. If you are booking private tours and can choose a later start, breakfast time would not be a problem for you, but the 8:30 start time was stressful and inconvenient for me, especially since I woke up with the roosters at 4:30 AM. When I booked, I thought this was a small "hotel." It isn't. It is a B&B. The owner is not on site. She stops at the bakery in the morning and arrives in time to start making breakfast at 8:30. She is there in the daytime if she needs to help with cleaning, do bookkeeping, or to greet new arrivals. At other times, you can try to reach her by WhatsApp. At night, no one is there. One night, there were no other guests, and I was completely alone at the "hotel." The other things that I will mention are probably true at many of the small places in Hanga Roa. Just part of being on the island: *Don't expect much other than noise from the A/C. *Noisy fridge -- earplugs worked for that. *There are hundreds of stray dogs on the island. At night, they bark and fight to defend their territories, and even ear plugs won't block the noise. *At dawn, the roosters start crowing. *It takes forever to get hot water (wasting lots of precious cold water), and the plumbing is extremely noisy so you can hear every flush and shower if there are other guests.

The best thing about the Taura'a is the location in the center of Hanga Roa close to restaurants, markets, the National Park visitor center, ocean-front swimming locations, and walking distance (about 1 mile each way) to Ahu Tahai. Airport transfers were included (as with most other places in Hanga Roa.) Toilets can be flushed which is not always the case on the island. I chose this place because of good reviews and because I wanted to stay at a smaller, more personal place that might be typical of the island. Unfortunately, it didn't suit me very well. Restaurants I liked: If you are vegetarian or just don't care for ceviche, I recommend Neptune's Island on the waterfront. Friendly people, nice music, shade from the sun, yummy menu with many food options. If you want to see the sunset at Ahu Tahai, it's roughly a one mile walk along the coast to Te Moai Sunset. Also a nice place but more limited menu. When you get to the stone wall, there are gates.
