Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt’s located a bit out of Pichilemu and if you don’t have a car, you’ve gotta walk a lot sometimes.
It’s beautifully build, a lot of space and the kitchen was super organised and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful, they even have a co-working space.

GermanyThe hostel dog needs some training, if you won't pay attention it will eat your food. The only way to get to the hostel is via a car or "collectivo" During the stay, the hostel was without running water for at least a day. (but it was probably only one-time situation)
Exceptional personal, you can rent surf equipment direct in hostel. Well-equipped kitchen and "Gym" with all necessary tools to train for better surf! Very good location, you can hear the waves in the night.

ChileRooms are cold, no proper heating in place. Water was warm to shower but it wasn't nice to enjoy. Had a kitchen but fridge was broken and breakfast wasn't really tasty.
It is located at a secluded area so it was nice to rest and disconnect, but they don't say tha GPS shows the wrong directions and we had trouble getting there.

FinlandNothing really, loved the place and especially the people!
I absolutely loved this surf hostel, it was beautifully build with warm wooden facilities and artsy details, instantly felt like home being there. This was also thanks to the amazing staff who were so understanding and easy to communicate with already before my stay, I arrived very late but still felt safe as the communication with reception was easy. Thanks so much for being exceptionally friendly, lovely and welcoming! The breakfast was very good with fruits and the hostel offers surf lessons as well as equipment for rent. It's located only a short walk away from Punta de Lobos Beach, really the perfect place for a relaxing getaway!

United StatesWe had an awesome stay! Location was perfect, quick walk to the surf. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, was an extremely good vibe there. Was very vibey when we visited, with folks from all over the globe staying there (Aus, Ireland, France, Canada, US, Brazil, Argentina, etc). They had a fire going each night to hang out and chat, which was awesome. Easy to rent surfboards there (for all abilities, not just beginners), and a mini-ramp out back.

United StatesThe breakfast hours were pretty limited, so if you plan to go for a morning surf session, you probably can't do both.
Lovely and comfortable place with a co-working space, shared kitchen and surf school and shop. Friendly staff and clean facilities. Campfire and plenty of opportunities to socialize. The dog, Mia, is a big ol' sweetpea.

United StatesFrom charging fro WIFI to an expensive surf shop I thought they were nickel and dime'ing us. There was one stove for around 50 guests. It was hard to cook. The bathrooms were not cleaned regularly and often were dirty. But for us the worst part was our rooms door didn't shut as it was broken, leading to us being eaten alive by mosquitos daily. In our four days there door was not fixed and we got very little sleep due to the humming of mosquitos. Biggest catch of all 30+ min walk to surf.
Breakfast was great and the hostel vibe was on point. It's a large space with a lot to do.

United StatesDefinitely a great place to stay and share with the other guests and the staff. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, and we had a great time hanging out by the bonfire getting to know the other guests. The beds were comfortable, shower was clean and had good water pressure, and breakfast was good.

BrazilThe bed sheets were dirty. The room doesn't have any kind of heating system. There were just 4 lockers for a 7-bed dorm. When I asked about that to an employee, he just told me not to worry that nothing would happen to my stuff (and luckily it didn't). The kitchen has just one 4-fire stove, so sometimes you might have to wait long to use it. For 2 nights, there were little parties in the barbecue area that made some noise until late at night, which disturbed the sleeping time in my bedroom (which was the closest one). Looking the instagram page before going, I had thought I would find a more experienced surfing staff that could help me with surfing tips for the city. However, it's not really a surfcamp. The closest market is 4 km far.
I spent 9 nights in Sirena Insolente Hostel in may 2022 for a surftrip on my own. I chose it because it was the only hostel (and the cheapest option) I found on Internet that you could go on foot to Punta de Lobos surfbreak. After getting there, I was sure about this detail. The other options are in the center of Pichilemu, about 6 km from Punta de Lobos. So if you don't plan to rent a car, it may be annoying to catch a "colectivo" (shared taxi) everyday to Punta de Lobos. But if you plan to surf mostly Infernillo and La Puntilla, then it's fine to stay in the city center. I stayed in a 7-bed dormitory with bathroom. The bed was confortable. The kitchen has a lot of apparel for cooking. The vibe was good, and there were some relaxing common areas as the ping pong table and the barbecue area.
