The Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall Wangshanyuan Homestay is an absolute treasure, nestled in a tranquil woodland setting. Managed by an incredibly welcoming and attentive family, my mother and I received exceptional care that made our stay unforgettable. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lady of the house, whose culinary skills shone through the most delectable stir fry meal, providing much-needed comfort after our journey from Hong Kong. Her warmth set the tone for the homestay's hospitable atmosphere. The homestay's proximity to the Mutianyu Great Wall allowed us to enjoy a peaceful stroll through the charming village. We relished the opportunity to explore the historic grounds at our leisure, away from the typical crowds, thanks to the pre-arranged tickets and the convenience of private transport. The luxury of being chauffeured to the Great Wall in a Mercedes Benz, with prompt drop-off and pick-up service, added an element of exclusivity to our adventure. I wholeheartedly recommend this homestay to anyone planning to witness the magnificence of the Great Wall. The serene location, combined with the family's genuine hospitality, ensures a remarkable experience. We're already looking forward to our return next year.

The home cooked meals were authentic and delicious and the assistance we had with the purchasing of our admission tickets and transportation to and from the Great Wall were incredibly helpful. We are planning a return trip in the fall.

Superb location within the Mutianyu scenic area. The rooms were clean, spacious and quiet. Toilet and shower were great too. The best part of the stay was the warm hospitality of the hosts…they helped us organise our tickets and sent us to the Great Wall and back. The included home style dinner and breakfast were also super tasty. Wifi was strong throughout the property

Wonderful stay, I would highly recommend it if you need to get out of the city. I had a wonderful room with view on the mountains, the host picks you up whenever you need to get your from the ticket office, bring you to the Great Wall and back. Very charming family, the mother cooked us a very nice dinner. It's the perfect match, not to hurry, spend one day on the Great Wall, when everyone is leaving to get back, you are alone up there. You have a wonderful night sleep, and on the next day, you climb the hill behind the house to see the sunrise, it was very calm and peacefull.

There are a couple minor quality of life things, but this pales in comparison to the positives! Our room only had one big light which meant at night time (when the curtains were drawn) it was challenging to get around the space. A little bed-side lamp (battery powered or otherwise) would be perfect. Our last problem (if you can even call it that) was that we couldn’t find a bath mat for the shower (there may have been one that we couldn’t see; we didn’t ask), the shower floor can be slippery. It’s an easy, easy fix that they may already have made :)

There is too much to write here, the family that own this place are delightful. They are so, so accommodating and communicative. Before we showed up they explained the best ways to get to their accommodation, they picked us up from the bus stop and drove us to the accommodation, they allowed us to select our room as there was no on else around, they made us food during our stay (we got to choose what time to eat, both breakfast and dinner) and there was always a lot. They sorted our tickets for the Great Wall, drove us to the Great Wall and back and dropped us off at the bus station. They know enough English to cover the basics! This set us up for a wonderful, memorable time at the Great Wall that became something really special that my partner and I will always reminisce over!

It was very good location for stay near the Great Wall (1,5 km). The owner are very freandly. They met us at 22.00 and prepared the very good dinner and breakfast. It was included in price. The room was clean and warm (it was very cold outside). They helped us to lift to the Great Wall and back. Thank you!

A great place to stay. The owner helped us very much when we wanted to visit the great wall and then also he brought us to the area the Ming tombs two visit places. With a great Chinese culture to discover. The food was very good and we where taken very care. Breakfast and dinner the real chines way. With very good taste too.. And special for us we had coffee and thee the Dutch way.

Huge Bed but is a bit hard as I am used to temper bed. Nightime is quiet but it is challenging to rest in the morning or afternoon as this is a family-owned homestay, you could hear quite loudly the family members conversation & sometimes children playing around etc. I could have closed the balcony door & window & switched on the aircon, but I liked the freshness of the cool morning & afternoon. Breakfast was a bit bland with a boiled egg, some Chinese buns filled with vegetables, local porridge & cucumbers. Would be great if they could prepare some western breakfast.

The host is bilingual & very helpful in fetching to & fro to the Mutianyu Great Wall as well as to the Pick Up Point at Mutianyu Roundable. Healthy home cook food with local dishes. Lunch & dinner with several similar selections in Singapore & pretty tasty. Huge servings & as a small eater, only finished about a third. Selection of cold drinks is great plus coffee too. My accommodation comes with a balcony with mountain views & used to have my own coffee breaks sitting there admiring scenery. Homestay is pretty close to Mutainyu Great Wall Entrance about 1-2mins drive or 20mins walk. Quiet environment during night for sleeping. Great bathroom with several interesting electrical controls for ventilation, drying of clothes etc.

Nothing, everything was perfect

Very good accomodation, comfortable, clean, no noise with a lot of space. The bed is very big, more than a king size, internet works well, and the owner gave us free still water. It's located just 2 minutes from the great wall and the owner proposed us to bring us to the wall for free, round trip ! The guesthouse is a familly guesthouse, with gand ma, grand pa, the son (the boss) and the kids. All the familiy is very friendly, helpfull and the meal from grand ma are very delicious. They also borrowed us two umbrellas for visiting the great wall. I think you can't find a better place than this guesthouse.

The location was great. Didn't have to take the shuttle to get in to the village next to the Great Wall. The people who run the Homestay were very kind and helpful. They bought tickets online for the Great Wall for us so we didn t have to wait in line. They also offered to bring us to the Wall and to pick us up after. A 2 minute drive. I'd love to come back!

I love everything about the place. Its proximity with the Great Wall Mutianyu section, the all-around service from Fung Wuy, the motherly care from Ms. Li Pieng, the cleanliness of my room, the very good food, the overall ambience of the place--felt like you are visiting a relative. I was traveling alone and this experience definitely gives me the confidence to do it again.

It would be nice if there were enclosed shower walls so that the bathroom floor didn’t get so wet.

I liked that it was so close to the Great Wall. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The Chinese food was delicious. We felt like we were relaxing in a home environment. A lot of thought went into the details of the homestay. We felt comfortable letting our older kids roam around the surrounding village area.
