Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoLittle far from subway, staff is ok but could be more helpful/friendly. No curtain/glass dividing the shower with the toilet but shouldnt be a prob for most people..
Location is ok but still some +15min walk from subway, two important lines there so convenient tho. It's ok but not a great experience, worth for money. Staff is ok but they don't speak a drop of English and not into helping particularly, just ok.

United StatesThe property was fine, but I had to always ask for a resupply of bathroom tissue. It happens at other properties too, so perhaps this is a Chinese thing.
Low key place. Not a lot of frills but very good for the value, comfortable and quiet, off the main road.

GermanyThe hotel is located 1 metro stop east of the central business district. From the metro station Dawanglu it is a 15 minutes walk to the hotel.
The hotel has a nice vibe with a little garden area to sit and a bar. The room was nice with clean facilities, but rather small. Thr bathroom had a shower and toilet. The sink was located outside of the bathroom in a niche next to the door of the room.

AustriaOur room didn't have a window, and facilities that were used together like the sink could be a bit cleaner.
It's just what you would expect of a hostel.

AustraliaOne staff member didn’t know how to use coffee machine but allowed me to go behind the counter to use it which was good, although I was still charged full price which wasn’t fair, coffee quite expensive and they never had milk. Very expensive for size of room which was quite small. Location a bit far from things - 15-20 minute walk from subway, malls etc.
Quiet location fairly close to convenience stores and some restaurants. Friendly staff. Clean rooms and good internet. Outdoor courtyard and bar was a nice bonus. Staff let me use their coffee machine….

NetherlandsA cute, smaller hotel in a very nice location, south of Chaoyang Park. I loved the atmosphere and the very friendly staff. There are lots of plants and there are spaces to sit and read. The rooms are small but with good use of space. You have a little desk and the WiFi works well. I was very comfortable here.

ItalyWe had a really good time in Shangchao hotel. The room was small but comfortable and quiet. The hotel is quite close to two metro stations and visiting the city is easy. There also is a free use wash and dry machine and the common area is enjoyable. Moreover the staff is kind and helpful. Liu, the receptionist english spoken, is special!

ChinaNo complaints!
Lovely hotel near the centre of Beijing, nice enclosed courtyard with a bar and draught beers. Courtyard also has a washer/dryer for clothes that’s free to use. Speaking Chinese is a bonus (obviously), but if you don’t speak Chinese they have translation services for tourists.

United KingdomAlthough it was absolutely fine for what I needed, some people may find the room a little small. (However, bigger rooms are available in the property)
Friendly, helpful desk staff and a pleasant environment in the main reception/bar area. Being set back from the main road meant it was nice and quiet, even though the surrounding area is quite busy, and the bed was comfortable, so I had a very good night's sleep. Plenty of convenience stores and restaurants in the neighbourhood, and the nearest Metro station was a 10-15 minute walk away, so it was easy to get around.

United KingdomThe only real problem with this place is that it's not particularly close to a metro station. A new line is being built as of the time of writing, so in the future this shouldn't be a problem, but currently there is quite a long walk to the nearest station.
The hotel is reasonably priced compared to others in Beijing at this time, which is why I chose it. I can confirm the hotel does accept foreigners. My room was fine, bed was a good size, bathroom was big. All facilities worked fine. The hotel provided bottled water and tea.

RussiaWindows faced parking lot. Bed was hard for my taste. Location is quite far away from everything, didn't see any places to eat at around the hotel. But we didn't search, i just didn't see any around, maybe there are some.
The room was much smaller than i expected but that's completely my fault - i didn't look at the square meters in the description for some reason. So based on the pictures i expected it to be different. Not the hotels' fault though! Even though it was small for 2 people it was still good for a short stay and for being out all day. Clean, everything you might need is there. No fridge though! Personnel speaks english which is helpful. Nice atmosphere.

United KingdomI would have given it a 100% star if it had more hanging space (especially for ladies :) ) and a little fridge.
It was a little heaven tucked away in a crazy big city. No matter how crazy Beijing is, the minute you step into ShangChao you are greeted with calmness. it was so quiet, no noise from the street, guaranteed good night sleep. The bed and bedding was super comfy.
