The house is located in a quiet place near the lake. The rooms are spacious and clean, from the upper terrace there is a nice view over the lake. The owner is very kind and helpful, he speaks english and also makes good breakfast.

A little out of the way for easy transportation so you need a ride hailing app which I don’t have in China, but the owner was nice enough to help me book a couple rides and I gave him cash.

Beautiful view and proximity to Erhai. Friendly and helpful owner who lives there, speaks some English if you don’t speak Chinese.

The shower room, sink and toilet bowl are separated into 3 different areas with a glass swing door. When water leaks out from the shower room into the sink area, there is no drainage system and it will flood. The address provided by the property is in English and is not found on any ride hailing apps. I had to add the boss on a messaging platform for him to send me a location much more easily found and convenient for booking rides. However, this didn’t solve the problem when you are ordering deliveries. I strongly suggest the boss to have a proper address. The boss was very kind and helped us all along the way so it isn’t a big problem at all.

Staff was good. View was excellent - you are about 10m from the Erhai Lake. Shower room was big and adequate. The boss upgraded our room for free. Air conditioning was strong. Lights were bright.

After leaving the property. I realize my clothes are full of smoke smells. I assume our neighbors smoke indoor and it came through the air ventilation. One day there are some construction going on in the balcony but now it is done.

The owner and his mom are super lovely! They made us the traditional noodles of the region everyday. The owner also introduced us to a nice driver to bring us around Dali. The balcony view is beautiful 🤩 Siper nice to see the sunrise just out from our window.

- note that the balcony room is a shared balcony, meaning anyone can use it, I had thought it was a private balcony. If we had known we wouldn’t have chosen this room, it also meant that there were some mornings and nights where we could hear people on there. So my advice to the host is to make that clear in the room selection part to avoid any future misunderstandings. Besides that, we had a very pleasant stay.

Blue Sea Hotel is a lovely place, located right next to the lake. The views are simply amazing, perfect to watch the sunrise from the rooftop terrace. Mr Young, our host, was very friendly and helped us a lot. The local style breakfast was fresh and delicious. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who enjoys peace and comfort. Thank you Mr Young for your wonderful hospitality, and lovely to meet your dog too!

Everything was great.

Perfect location right on the lake. Our room on the third floor had a large window with the perfect view of Erhai Lake. We could watch the sunrise and sunset from the balcony and the lounge chairs were perfect for sunbathing for a bit in the afternoon. The hotel location is very convenient for visiting spots like Dali Ancient Town, Cangshan Mountains, and the three pagodas—just a short, inexpensive taxi ride away ( 30 minutes or less to each destination). The room was inviting with a comfortable bed, spacious shower, and very calm and peaceful surroundings. Mr. Young was very attentive, kind, and helpful. He even offered us fresh yogurt with blackberries one afternoon when we were taking a break from exploring around. We also looked forward to the delicious breakfast every morning!

The hotel is just on the shore of the beautiful Erhai lake, the view is magnificent, it is enough just to stay here and enjoy it, even without going to the old city of Dali. You can rent bikes, even for 3-6 people ( the ones with 4 wheels and a rod and simply ride it along the walking and cycling road on the shore, it is so good tbt no moto bikes and cars can drive there. The breakfast is as in most Chinese hotels in this region, rice noodles with meat, rice buns, boiled egg, the owner also treated us with watermelon every time :) He is really nice and helping, we really felt cared for! They have a small Labrador puppy, the owner let my dkuds play with it which was the best thing for them. The only wierd thing is that our room had a bathtub and a sink in the middle, between two beds... It was really strange, because we are family with kids and it was really hard to imagine that someone can take a bath like this... Good thing, we had a normal shower. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay very much and would come back another time.

Just to be aware, the lake view rooms all share the same balcony.

Mr Lan the owner was very welcoming and was in good contact before I arrived so he could meet me from the road as the hotel is down an alley and not signposted. The views of the lake were beautiful and it was a peaceful spot to wake up in.

There wasn't anything we disliked but it's good to be aware that you'll need to take a taxi (or didi) to the local attractions (unless you're just bicycling around the lake since it's right there). Public transport isn't really available (or easy to use when it is available).

The owner was really helpful and made contact through WeChat right after I completed the booking to confirm our plans and help us book a driver from the airport. The lake view is gorgeous and there is a bicycle pathway right next to the inn. We walked to the left for a short time and then found a lot of bicycles for rent which we then took for a nice ride around the lake. Lots of coffee shops the further north along the lake you go and Dali Old Town/Three Pagodas/Cangshan Mountain are all within a 15 minute drive. Overall I'd say the hotel was good value for money and a very nice and helpful owner. A simple breakfast (noodle soup, fruit, milk, fried eggs/vegetables) is provided by the owner, but for other meals you'll need to travel by car to the restaurants or ask the owner to help you order takeaway food on one of the delivery apps (meituan, eleme). The hotel itself is a little bit hard to find on your own for the first time since it has slightly different names on Booking.com versus Chinese apps like didi (booking cars) and maps (Baidu, Tencent), so I recommend going through the hotel to book your first car ride there.

The owner is very polite and helpful, his mother cooks a great breakfast to help set you up for the day. The rooms have a great view of the lake and easy access to the walking/cycleway next to the lake. The neighborhood is very interesting and there are lots to look at when you take a stroll.

As a foreigner with kids, it was quite difficult to stay in this area due to the shortage of near food options (we had to take a didi to eat each day, and try to stock up on snacks to keep in the room). It is extremely difficult to get didi's in Dali (always a wait, and especially being out near the lake, so each didi request took about a 30 minute wait or longer). We ended up renting e-scooters from ancient town (these were not easy to find) for 4 days so we could easily drive around (each trip took about 20-30 minutes to get to restaurants, sites, etc. on the escooters). Although there are a lot of bikes in the area to rent, the systems do not allow for foreigners to rent them (we verified this was the case), so we finally gave up and were never able to take advantage of a bike ride along the lake. There was non-working air conditioning units in the family room, and it was difficult to find a comfortable temperature (the air conditioning unit in our second room worked great, although it was automatically turned off often, and so it had to be reset regularly).

The staff were super helpful, kind and responsive. My kids are picky eaters and they offered to personalize breakfast options for them. The stay along the lake is very beautiful, and there's a bike path directly behind the hotel. Our kids loved playing with their nets in the lake each evening, and taking strolls with the evening sunset. The shared balcony on the top floor provides beautiful views, but during our stay, there was another guest who made it her office and we were unable to enjoy sitting on the comfortable couch to relax. The hotel automatically upgraded our room, which was so generous. We rented escooters from town, and the staff went above and beyond to help us charge them.

Not much complaint but had to ask for toilet paper and water to be replaced in the room, thought this should just be checked and done as needed each day. Also the hotel is a little hard to locate but the owner was very helpful and ordered a taxi for us which made things much easier.

Fantastic views of Erhai lake and Dali. Hotel owner and his family were very nice and cooked a great breakfast. only a short taxi ride to Dali ancient town. great cycle route around the lake. Room was clean and comfortable.
