How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It's quite a walk from the nearest metro station, especially with luggages, but still doable. The street leading to the hotel can also get quite dark and quiet at night, even though we did not experience anything bad during our stay there. Also not too much amenities nearby, only at the metro station. But there are vending machines in the lobby.
The room we booked was very spacious for two, plenty of room to open two big luggages and floor space to spare. Beds were comfortable and toilet was okay. Toiletries provided were good. Breakfast was also a wonderful surprise; decent food and varied choice every day. Staff were very friendly even if they mostly only spoke Mandarin, understandably.

The room was smaller than I initially thought. The picture makes it look big but the pros outweigh the cons.
The location is the main attraction. It's close to everything, a clean, vibrant area. The process to check-in was very easy for tourists.

Great location, only 8 minute walk to metro station. Also by the river where you can walk on the path all the way to the Bund. It’s a very nice and leisurely walk. Clean room, comfortable bed, good breakfast. Staff was very helpful and overall, is good value for money. Would definitely stay there again.

The room is equipped with everything you need tv, water kettle, towels, a fridge, a safe etc. Water bottles, tea bags, coffee, towels are being exchanged every single day. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and even body lotion is available in the bathroom. The location is also great you’re 1-2 stations away from West Nanjing Road and People’s Square. I really have to say this was the cleanest hotel room I’ve ever been to I’m very impressed by the cleaning personnel! Would always go back to this hotel when in Shanghai

We were taking the Chinese uber to move around, but not very close to city center or main sightseeing places (not sure how was the public transport around there)
The place had many facilities and the bed was super comfortable.

Location: 10 mins+ walk from any of the nearest metro station. It’s named “Railway station and people’s square”, but it’s actually kilometers away from both locations.

Although it is close to the metro station line 13, it's less practical to get to line 2 direction airport as connection is actually outside station. It means one need to buy the ticket 2x. However very convenient to go to Nanjing road either by 1 stop metro or just walk.
The room is practical and the bed is comfortable. The big loby area. The hotel is very clean

The washing machines are great, but not all options are available via the app. Wanted to dry my clothes on low heat, but only offered high heat dryer
Great location close to a metro station (Natural History Museum). The staff is kind and accommodating. The room is spacious and the AC is strong enough. Daily housekeeping.

Location and structure were perfect. Comfortable beds, big room, 2 elevators, clean and big toilet, besides being budget friendly (considering Shanghai standards) and a few minutes from Metro Station. Truly recommend!

The free luggage storage is kept in the open in the foyer. Sub optimal.
It's in between two metros. We found the Natural History Museum the more convenient. Quiet, clean, comfy beds and good showers. We found no english with the staff, although they tried to help.

A little far out from Shanghai centre, not much around. Need to take the metro.

desk reception operators don't really speak english, however this wasn't a big deal

Its location is not that very ideal if you want to be near food stalls, coffee shops, and the likes. The nearest location wherein you could find Chinese food stalls is still in Xinzha Road which is about 5-10mins walk, but the walk going there is amazing anyway.
It was clean and decent. I liked that there were 2 bottles of water, tea, and toiletries supplied everyday. The bed was comfortable to sleep in too.
