How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing in particular. There was a faint smell of smoking, but there’s not much the hotel can do about this (they have clear signage advising of fines for anyone who smokes in rooms, probably not much more that can be done). I did find better value for money at a similar quality hotel in Shanghai on the same trip.

Staffs are not friendly and wifi is horrendous. Basically you cant use the hotel’s wifi cos ir never works.

Location is advertised as 1 min walk to Hangzouh metro station but in reality is 10 mins walk. Moreover is advertised as 7 minutes walk to People Square metro station- and in fact is about a 35 mins walk at leisure.

Room is not up-to-date and can feel the spring and sound from the bed. bathroom floor is very slippery.
Location to metro and restaurants is nearby. Easy acces via metro to attractions. Very good Breakfast selection and staff is friendly.

Air con was literally heater at 25 degree whole day. The outside temperature was around 16 to 20 just cooling enough. However room was hot! Gave us 2 stand fans and that is barely enough to survive for 8 nights. Informed by staff they never switch on centralised air con all the time. Omg
Clean and Convenient. Seem like a CBD area with small restaurant and cafes surrounding.

They charge extra for everything even after you’ve already paid a high rate for the room. Breakfast price is ridiculously high. Didn’t bother. Who needs a gigantic meal in the morning? What about all the great local food available the rest of the day? You can only eat so much. I’ve been at other nice hotels where laundry is free etc. This place charges even if you drink the Evian water.
Clean and nicely decorated. The staff are wonderful. They all seemed very nice, friendly and professional.

We stayed 5 nights at the hotel. We have stayed in the area before, & love the location. Our room was excellent, as was the Club Lounge. Breakfast was ok for 4 of the 5 mornings, but on the Sunday morning it was a shambles. They ran out of cups, bowls, knives & forks, bread & fruit. The western breakfast options - grilled tomatoes, hash browns, bacon, scrambled eggs were all stone cold. If we had only stayed one night we would have assumed this was the breakfast every day, but we know it wasn’t. We will stay again.

Only provide the very essential consumable items if you need,such as toothbrush/toothpaste. However, you can see the cutting cost without any waste which is totally understandable. It would be better If the hotel can provide a pair of single use slippers and a shower cup to guest if required. I didn’t ask the reception at check-in. When I realised that I needed, it was later night. With one night stay, I couldn’t be bothered.
Provide the standard Marriott facilities and services. Have a peace of mind to book with Marriott in Shanghai. 1. Good location- Quiet and Convenient. 5 minutes walk to Hanzhong subway station with one stop from /to Shanghai railway station and two stops to the People’s Square where you can easily to access the walking street in Nanjing Road and get to The Bund. 2. New and Comfortable facilities- comfortable bed with fresh and clean bed sheets.Bath towels are not new but clean. 3. Provide the adequate services.

The prices may have been cheaper if we booked at another timing or platform.
The receptionist Kevin was exceptional and gave great recommendations and advice. He was welcoming and warm. We also received a high floor room! The breakfast was awesome for my picky taste. The location was near to the train station and quite near the metro station.

Good mix of Asian and Western Breakfast. Had sandwich and burger at the lobby bar. The waitress Jasmin was extremly forthcoming and paid a lot of attention! Will stay at the hotel again! Really liked it!
