Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCommunication was difficult as nobody spoke English or Russian, but honestly, with translator apps on our phones, we were able to solve any problems quickly.
The secluded nature of the villas, the shuttle bus to and from the beach, breakfast has a lot of options (yes, mostly Chinese, but it was tasty). The atmosphere around the complex was very relaxing, our stay was very enjoyable!

ChinaThe pool felt a bit slimy and dirty the first day we were there but improved the following day. Breakfast is average.
Loved the kids pool outside the room. My daughter enjoyed the princess bed. Public areas were empty most of the time. The resort is beautiful with lots of benches, hammocks and couches to lounge in. Helpful, friendly staff.

ChinaWe visited in January and the temperature of the pool was so cold. Our experience would have been 10/10 if the pool was heated.
Great location in Yalong Bay, the hotel also offers a shuttle cart to the local food area (which is a 15 minute walk away). The grounds of the hotel are beautiful to walk around, it feels very tropical. Breakfast buffet has many options, both Chinese and Western. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. This is our second stay at this hotel now and we will definitely return when visiting Sanya.

CanadaBreakfast was fine but mostly Chinese, and they didn't really replenish quickly so if fruit or drinks ran out it might come back for half an hour, if at all. I had a room facing the pools which at first looked great, but if there are children in there (or below you in the family pool rooms) good luck sleeping in. I'd opt for a cheaper room facing the back if I went back even though it's just trees.
I recommend this place if you aren't a beach person and just want pool and sun with few others around (which was great for me!). This was a typical resort, but what was good is that most guests stay in the private villas and go to the beach during the day so the common areas are actually not that busy. Pools had a lovely setting among the pond and greenery. There were hammocks and other types of seating areas besides the sun chairs. I loved that the pool was empty during the day (it only got busy after the sun goes down). The dinner buffet was good, even though I don't eat seafood which was 80%. There was more than enough other stuff. At the end of the long driveway is a mall/market area with good restaurants (Korean, Thai, noodles, local, etc.). There are golf carts to take you down or to the beach. Staff were friendly.

ThailandShould organise for guests to be tested (for covid) on their site as other resorts had, after all nobody wants to pay for a villa they can’t spend time in because of long queues. Breakfast was bleh.
Staff that were transporting guests around were very friendly and helpful

ChinaWe didn’t stay in one of the villas - just one of the bedrooms in the main area. We absolutely loved the main swimming pool, infinity pool over looking the lake with palm trees and nature everywhere - so beautiful. The whole grounds of the hotel felt very tropical which we loved.

United KingdomBeing English, it was difficult to access some of the features the hotel offered. They offered a shuttle bus to and from the reception/beach, but we were not able to use it as no one could speak English. We managed to get by using translation apps.
The room was perfect for our needs, the private pool was excellent and, after a lot of rain, it was cleaned quickly. Very peaceful and secluded area.

ChinaHonestly quite a lot, the bar is closed, so there is nowhere to just get a drink, there was rarely anyone at the little cafe to serve a coffee when you went, it isn't beachfront even though it says it is in facilities. It's also continually annoying when staff knock on your door when you have 2 do not disturb signs up, I do some tutoring online and one day the same lady came three times knocking on my door when I explained I was in class and she was disturbing me, it felt like cleaning my room was more important that my ability to actually enjoy my stay, which is really frustrating
The pool and everything was really nice, rooms were spacious and clean.

ChinaTo go to the lobby or to the beach you need to call a car that is for free but you sometimes need to wait for a while. But actually it takes you like 15 minutes to go on foot to the beach so it’s not a big deal.
This villa is the perfect place to escape winter. The rooms were spacious, the bathroom was clean with everything you need. The bathtub was big enough. There is a nice living room on the first floor and the swimming pool is deep and big enough to swim. The stuff are very nice and helpful. They were doing everything to make our stay comfortable. One call and they bring you everything you need. Thank for adjusting our check out for a couple of hours as we had a late flight.

ChinaThe staff hardly speak any English and it gets challenging at times! Especially when you need to ask for a cart to come pick you up to get to the lobby. The property is truly beautiful but needs renovations.

United Kingdom1. Some of the front desk staff are very inexperienced and poorly trained - no welcoming, cold attitude, not knowledgeable of the surrounding of the property, etc 2. Breakfast is not very good for international choices, not the best quality either. 3. No gym for the entire resort
1. Room is spacious with private pool 2. Concierge service is warm and efficient 3. They helped us to move a quieter room when our neighbour was too noisy

United KingdomHotel best suited to domestic tastes and families with young children, not ideal for couples. Facilities are quite dated, and, as previously mentioned, a damp smell problem in quite a lot of the rooms and the guestroom buildings generally. Rooms are dark and a bit unappealing. On the location aspect, the hotel is convenient for Yalong Bay, but I would suggest to other travellers to skip Yalong Bay altogether, especially if you do not have your own car. There's really nothing there except for an extremely overrated beach and expensive hotels. Perhaps it used to be a beach paradise, not so much any more. Not much dining out options, except for the hotels there's just one little area of gimmicky tourist trap restaurants. Nothing to do except the beach, and there are much better beaches on Hainan.
The service is deserving of praise. Staff were very helpful, accomodating and considerate of our needs and feelings. When we first arrived, we were given a room that smelled of cigarette smoke and damp. They allowed us to change rooms twice until we got one where the damp smell was more tolerable. Hotel is well organised and there are convenient shuttle services to the beach. Breakfast options are reasonable for a domestic hotel resort. Nice and green environment around the hotel. Reasonable value considering the location.
