The only issue was that the bathroom had no door, which makes it hard to go to the toilet when there is someone else in the room with you.

The staff was very friendly wnd helpful. Do room was clean and the house had a nice and comfortable community room to relax and get something to drink.

Very nice room and common space living room, everything was very clean and renewed! It’s located very close to Gubei Water town( 5 minutes by taxi which costs 2-3 euros). The owner was very friendly and helpful, even if she didnt speak English we managed to communicate with google translate! Great place, highly recommended!

Only 1 thing to improve...there are many hot baths/pools in the town. Some kind of inside rack or line to dry bathing clothes.

There was a driver who took us to Gubei Water Town, and my only complaint was that the seatbelt in the front seat was broken and didn't work. I didn't feel very safe riding in the front seat without a seat belt (my husband and kids were in the back seat). The driver really should get that fixed asap.

The breakfast was amazing! We had the Western breakfast, the eggs and homemade bread was delicious. Ellie had a cheesecake waiting for us when we arrived, and it was so good. The rooms were clean, the villa was very modern, and it was quiet. Lovely place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, On arrival we were greeted with freshly baked cookies, watermelon and lemon water. The hotel was extremely clean, beautifully furnished, staff were very polite and helpful. Ellie ( who speaks English ) catered to all of our needs making it a very personlised stay. The cost of the room included a lovely home baked breakfast, entrance into the water town and transport there and back, You must try the evening meal Hot Pot and don't miss out on a trip to the wild wall at Panlongshan, rugged, isolated and truly spectacular! Just be aware that although the room and bathroom are private, you share the lounge area of the villa with 2 other rooms, although during our stay we were the only ones there so had the villa to ourselves.

High quality room with excellent English comms. We have just enjoyed 2 nights here during May 2022. Pros are: 1) Excellent communication with Ellie by wechat before and during the trip. She can arrange transport for you to Panlongshan section of the Wall for 100rmb round trip. Any questions you have she will promptly reply. 2) Watertown tickets (2) were included in the room price and the car to go there and pick you up later. Very convenient and saves you money! 3) Delicious breakfast especially French toast, fresh coffee. Fresh baked rolls..We ate breakfast in the adjoining breakfast room which is nicely furnished. 4) Ellie kindly upgraded my room.Comfortable room (four poster bed) with ensuite bath (powerful water tap in bath. Also large separate shower head).. Good quality toiletries. Bathrobes. Aircon /heater in room. Living room - adequate size but be aware that it's a shared living room amongst 3 rooms in the Villa. Luckily we were the only people staying there that weekend so had it to ourselves. 5) Excellent, helpful staff working there - Linan speaks English. 6) Relaxing seating area on the deck outside. A barbecue too but we didn't use it. 7) i put in a special request for a cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The lady there, I forgot her name, made a delicious cheesecake. Thank you. Cons No cons. Special notes. We visited during the covid testing period in Beijing and also when dine-in restaurants were prohibited. Please do not let that deter you from visiting because you can easily order takeaway food (staff will help you order it) and eat it in your Villa. Also you can do your 48 hour covid (NAT) test before you leave central Beijing and stay there 1 night and still get back to Beijing central. Hospitality venues like this Villa need tourists to visit so we should try and support them. We got the minibus from Watertown (departs 1200, 1700) to Dongzhimen Beijing cost 48 rmb per person NOTE you pay on the bus.

Amazing location for a quiet retreat yet very close to all the fun and exciting views of Gubei Wtown. The hiking park near the village provide astonishing views of the Great Wall and breathtaking sights of the mountains. The bathtub facing the glass wall is a luxurious addition to the four poster bed and high ceilings. Homemade breakfast tailored to your taste was delicious

Our stay at Simatai No. 19 Villa was absolutely wonderful. The hosts were so kind and accommodating. They provided us with everything we needed, and were happy to fulfil any additional requests we had. The villa itself was lovely - simultaneously modern and rustic. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean. The bed was large and comfortable. It was chilly during our stay but the heat in the villa worked well. They provided a beautiful breakfast for us and a delicious treat when we returned from the water town! Ellie spoke English and helped us navigate our entire stay in Simatai/ Gubei. She provided suggestions and helped organize tickets and transportation to take us from Simatai to Gubei. We would absolutely recommend this villa to anyone looking for an authentic and personalized experience!

Wonderful property with very unique features in a small village. The staff were amazing, go above and beyond to help us see the local attractions (Gubei Water Town - which was fantastic). Choice of breakfast between Chinese and Western was excellent and delicious. Very good accommodation, we would stay again!

No one was there to check me in even though the time I said I’d arrive was approved. I didn’t know what to do and the phone number kept saying it was busy. I stood outside for over an hour and eventually just booked a different hotel (which is honestly a better deal to stay inside Gubei Water Town anyway). Still no response or refund from the owner of this property.
