Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe music from the Union bar located in the lobby was too loud, I could hear it in my room when trying to sleep.
I liked the set up and design of the room. The fact everything in the mini bar was included, some wine would have been nice too for the non beer drinkers.

Hong KongThere was a construction across the small alley from my room, the construction workers were looking right into my living room from am to pm, but this has nothing to do with the peoperty itself.
Beautiful and spacious rooms, great service and central location. The bathtub is awesome, like a Japanese onsen. Will surely stay here again! Restaurants are just so so, the Italia food they serve doesn't really taste authentic, would expect better from SWIRE.

SwitzerlandNothing.
High-class hotel with superb rooms, restaurants, and facilities. The staff was fantastic, greatly facilitating our stay by helping to set up Alipay and organizing excursions to the Great Wall and other sights. They also spoke fairly good English, anticipated our every need, and were in general very attentive. Minibar consumption and a little gift each night before going to bed are included in the room price. Definitely one of the best managed hotels I have ever stayed at.

NetherlandsWhen you enter the hotel you are already in awe of the place: a peaceful oasis with beautiful art in in the middle of bustling Sanlitun. We had a Studio70, which is a gorgeous spacious room in understated colours and wood. The B&O bluetooth speaker was a nice touch. Impeccably clean. Lush towels (lots of them). Walk in shower and great wooden bath tub. Complimentary mini bar. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. They take their time to get to know you and will arrange transport, dinner reservations, bicycles, basically everything you need. Gym is well decked out with free weights, cable machine, and very good quality treadmills, bikes etc. Beautiful swimming pool too. Lots of restaurant options in-house. All great. Saturday night the hotel bar Union was obviously the place to be for the hip 'n happening Beijing crowd. Live DJ, the place was buzzing. The location right in the middle of Sanlitun is excellent. We made great use of the cool hotel bikes to visit all the sites in Beijing. Love the Opposite House!

United KingdomIf I had to find one little fault, the water in the swimming pool could have been a couple of degrees warmer. I thought it was fine but my wife found it a little too fresh.
I chose The Opposite House for our wedding night and it was perfect. We loved it. The design is great. The rooms are extremely well appointed, but uncluttered, spacious and bright. The breakfast was brilliant, the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. The restaurants and bars are all great. The Michelin-starred Jing Yaa Tang had the best Chinese food I've eaten in 11 years here. What elevated a fabulous hotel to the superlative was the service, which was efficient but unfussy, a sure sign of class, and all the staff speak great English. I can't recommend The Opposite House highly enough and will be back for our first anniversary, if not before.

United StatesBreakfast is sad... bad quality, very few choices. That's true with both the continental and what's on the menu. I remembered it to be better. Hope it will be better next time. I'll be back at this hotel for sure, despite bad breakfast.
The cool and thoughtful design of the hotel is what drew me in at first. With the added benefits of amazing location, comfort, and amenities. There are not many hotels better than this in the world. If it's between a Ritz Carlton and The Opposite House, the Opposite House wins a hundred times over.

ChinaIf I have to be really picky, the coffee at breakfast can be more tasty. I find the hairdryer in the room a bit heavy and bulky ( not the best fit with the beautiful minimalistic style room).
We have stayed at the Opposite House for years whenever to come to visit family and friends in Beijing ( my husband and our 6 years old daughter). The ambience here is just superb: Cool & Artistic, yet very Peaceful. I can’t say enough nice things about the service and the deco. Minimalistic yet warm and homey. Nothing in Beijing nor Shanghai beats the experience here. Yvett, Lynn and Joyce from the front receiption are super kind, helpful and efficient! So were Jessica from restaurant Fresca. My parents joined us for a staycation and it was a lovely experience for all of us.

ChinaNo early check in. Since staycations are a thing right now an early check in would have been appreciated. No cart for the room service which meant the dirty dishes stayed in room until check out.
The service was terrific. From a cute complimentary mini bar to a little fruit and nut plate delivery upon arrival. I asked for a late check out and it was no problem. The location was incredible! Close to many shops and restaurants which made walking around fun. The bathtub was awesome!
