Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Excellent location, just a short walk from the city walls and Muslim quarter. The hotel was very clean, good rooms with a very comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good and there’s even afternoon tea in the afternoon which was great to come back to when you need a rest in the middle of the day. There’s also fridges with water where you can help your self which is a great touch. Would highly recommended!!!

United StatesThe hot milk dispenser at breakfast sometimes dispensed milk in weird directions, creating a mess. I suspect dried milk protein from the hot milk slightly clogged the dispenser, causing this problem. Additionally, glass cups should not have been placed next to the hot milk. The milk was so hot that the glass cup cracked; perhaps porcelain cups should have been provided. It’s inconvenient to have partition steps between the elevator corridor and the dining hall entrance. Maybe there were architectural design issues for having those steps, but they are hazardous enough that they have a warning to watch/mind the steps. The elevator entrance should use arrows rather than a top light bar and bottom light bar to indicate if the approaching elevator will be going up or down. Quite a few guests got confused and entered an elevator that went the opposite direction of their destination. It would have been nice if foreign shows or movies were shown on television. Finally, there occasionally seemed to be issues with the light buttons in the room. Occasionally turning off a reading light or bathroom light mysteriously switches all the lights and even the television off.
Room was large, comfortable, and cozy. Cleaning staff was very pleasant and always says Good Morning. The breakfast dining staff (which included a person named Mei-li) were extremely friendly: they helped find us seats in the dining hall and helped my mom, who has mobility issues, to navigate the steps between the elevator corridor and the dining hall entrance. The watermelon, cantaloupe, and chocolate cake at breakfast tasted excellent. Hotel location with respect to the Xi’an Drum and Bell Towers and the Muslim Quarter is good.

AustraliaRoom is smaller than other hotels we stayed in China, general feeling of the hotel is dark and moody, which kinda depressing, maybe it's a trend, because Westin which we stayed in also feel the same way. I'm not sure why very high reviews are from?
Location is great within the city wall, easily walking distance to drum tower, lots of eating places nearby. Concierge is great, helped us to book tours and shows, and exceptionally prompt in answering all our queries. Breakfast is great with variety. All the staff worked super hard to make our stay enjoyable.

A fabulous hotel with attentive staff from the minute you walk in. Modern facilities with accessible Laundry and gym. Buffet breakfast and a modest afternoon tea available as part of the room rate. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Every staff member was lovely, including housekeeping, who were so accomodating and eager to interact and ensure we had a pleasurable experience.

RomaniaVery well located for the main food/bars areas, comfortable bed and good breakfast. I also have to thank the great staff, because I forgot my earrings when checking out and they very promptly messaged me and mailed them to my next hotel in China and got them the very next day.

Location is great - less than 5 minutes to the top of "Defuxiang" (Defu Lane) which is the place to go in the evenings for food, drinks and live music. I'd suggest going via Defuxiang to get to the South Gate of the ancient wall also, will take around 30 minute walk unless you'd rather taxi. The ancient walled city is actually much bigger than I thought! Around an hour to an hour and ten minutes to get to the Terracotta Soldiers by car. I took a taxi (DiDi) which was less than £10. Worth paying for sure. The rooms were great. I chose the hotel for its brutalist design which you find in the rooms also. Bathrooms were beautiful, great lighting generally, spacious and the bed was so comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful but have Google Translate to hand if you don't speak Mandarin (and in Xi'an in general, it's not Beijing or Shanghai!). All toiletries provided, USB sockets, coffee making station. Everything you need for a stay in Xi'an. The room service robots are so cool.

NorwayThe AC had some problems during our stay. Hopefully this is just a one time occasion. The main problem is that the room was too warm, and there's no helping it even when the window is opened. During our stay, it was colder outside than inside. Another small problem is that the elevator is a bit slow. But that's not a big issue.
The location is very good. Very central and easy to commute. The service provided by Ms. Yin Gaili was great, where she brought us food and helped us to fetch the utilities. She also made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay. The laundry room also worked surprisingly well.

AustraliaKeep in mind only 2 minor things. The staff speak limited English, which is unlike more established foreigner accepting hotels. Lastly, the hotel itself, while called Eastern House. Comes under another name on most Western mapping devices. The hotel is referred to as Dongshe Boutique Hotel (东舍精品酒店)
Wonderful hotel in a great location. Simply walk from the hote for a few minutesl and the best night market and Bell Tower views right there.

SingaporeNo complaints at all. I did not get to taste the afternoon tea that were provided free so I am not sure whether they were good or not.
Excellent location. You can walk to the famous Huimin Street (where many choices of muslim food are served) and there are also many other choices of non-halal food on other streets. We booked a tour package to see the terracotta warriors and watched a Chinese performance (千古情) from one of the tour agencies there. Walking distance to the Bell Tower and metro station, but since taxis are relatively affordable in China, we take taxis everywhere (less than RMB20 for a 20 min ride, which brings you to a number of attractions like Dayanta 大雁塔 ). Room is clean and of decent size.
