The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly and most speak English. The facility is located right on the river. The food, both western and traditional are both very good. There are plenty of daily activities available at the front desk that can be organized.

Poor breakfast menu, especially because there was nothing child friendly and nothing sweet. The jam was and butter were not enough even for a toast (they were serving it and I appreciate the fact they don’t want to waste, but that was not even a teaspoon of them…

Unfortunately I had a back room partly due to availability. There are no black out curtains and the light from a back courtyard remained on. I was eventually able to notify someone in the middle of the night to switch it off. I needed to use my laptop but wifi kept on dropping which was very frustrating. The offering of free bikes would be great if they were of a reasonable standard. Unfortunately, in both cases where I used one the stand kept dropping over every bump, necessitating a stop to push it back up. The brakes were also of dubious standard. Better to rent a higher quality one for long rides.

The riverside setting is beautiful. Staff were friendly.

The staff is incredible, they make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. I don’t think I’ve had to wait longer than 2 minutes to be served! Lovely rooms and beautiful views from the garden.

Just the bathroom was a bit uncomfortable with not enough space/shelves to store our things.

The whole place was so peaceful and beautiful. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Also the food at the restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. We had a great time there

It's quite challenging to watch TV programmes in the room as it is supported by wifi cable. WiFi need to be upgraded as it is not strong and unstable, maybe becos of the secluded location. Don't come to Yangshuo if u are into shopping as there is no malls.

For those who love scenery, this is the place for u. Love the beautiful mountains landscapes, staffs are very eager to help and friendly and good food. The outdoor seating will be best during cool season.

The noisy doors. Since all are wood, when closing them at night (especially the bathroom doors) they make huge noise.

The location is simply perfect plus the heavenly garden facing Yu Long River and and the beautiful mountains. Being able to eat outside or just hang out there doing nothing is just perfect. And the beautiful antique furnitures, lovely layout of the restaurant beautifully crafted windows etc . Even the AC units are dressed up by wooden carvings. Awesome taste over all. And very good quality food (didn’t try western menu). Though a bit pricy.

Especially Kate was so helpful and went out of her way to even show us local food in her favorite place in Yangshuo. - Great location - Rooms are exceptional with a great view and fully equiped with tea and kettle - Restaurant food is also very good (just had chinese and snacks)

The view of the river and mountains from this place is simply breathtaking. Most of the staff speaks English and are helpful. Plus, the food is delicious and there's plenty of it. The rooms are comfortable. If you're heading to Yangshuo, I'd recommend staying here for sure.

It would be nice to have some basic and affordable snacks available for purchase and there really aren't any convenience stores nearby and the restaurant snacks are limited and pricey.

We were greeted by staff when we arrived who took us to our room to settle even before we formally checked in. Was easy to arrange all activities from the hotel with no fuss. We travelled in winter and was great that the rooms had heating and we could enjoy the fireside in the restaurant. The hotel provided extra blankets and gave us rugs to take with us for the impression show. The hotel is sustainable with no single use products and is nestled in such a beautiful environment.

I was initially disappointed that the complimentary shuttle rides to town which were described in the listing had been discontinued after the Covid epidemic waned but we found that the Didi commercial ride service was great. Clean modern cars arrived within minutes of being hailed on the app and only cost 2-4 US dollars for a ride to or from town so I would not let the lack of a shuttle service dissuade me at all from staying here.

The location and the outside appearance of Yangshuo Mountain Retreat almost impossibly beautiful. It is situated a stone’s throw from the Yulong River in a valley that is one of the most magical places I have ever visited. Near-vertical towering karst terrain spires line the valley on either side and tower directly behind the resort itself. The resort provides free bicycles which are better maintained that those that I have found for free in other hotels and there are free helmets and bicycle locks provided. The bike ride up the valley for a mile or so along a wide brick paved path that runs along the banks of the river offers a parade of vertical peaks on either side of the river(there are more extensive bike routes listed online but these involved sharing the road with busy auto and motor scooter traffic and I,for one, did not think the risk of an orthopedic, or head, injury was worth it). The Yulong river valley is lined with small farms and has so many gorgeous plants(from banana trees to rice ready for harvest and local wild flowers), that I chose to walk it several times to appreciate the fine detail one misses when biking. The exterior of the resort itself is very charming with exuberant blooming bougainvillea lining the path and framing the verandas of each room. The interiors and plumbing are somewhat old fashioned but comfortable and clean and the rooms have a small veranda with chairs and a small table looking out onto a stunning bougainvillea-framed view of the river and mountains. The staff were friendly and went out off their way to be helpful. They welcomed us on our first day with a complimentary pot of ginger tea and a little plate of cookies. The ginger tea was so good we went back three times during our stay for a pot of the same tea. The restaurant was cozy and the chinese dishes were good(we did not try their western menu).
