Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenMaybe a door to the toilet instead of a drape, but it didn’t matter so much.
Cosy above expectation. Super friendly and helpful staff that offered a ride to the Great Wall. And lovely part of the Wall since it was not packed with tourists at all in the end of May. Lovely food at the location, large portions to a small price.

ItalyThe landloard are simply the best people I have met on my way so far. They helped me a lot and they dedicated me a lot of time. Unfortunately someone had stolen my phone while I was visiting Great Wall of China and the girl working at Garden Guesthouse came with me to look for it and called the Police for me who finally manage fo find it. Great Wall of China is just 20 min walking from the Guesthouse and the accomodation is very nice with a lovely Garden and a swimmingpool and biliard table.. Also beds are comfortable and toilets clean equipped with shower soups. Also there is restaurant to have lunch and dinner if you need with economic prices. Thank you for everything. I highly recommend this place.

RussiaStayed there only for 1 night on April, but was charmed by the vibe and authenticity. Room has all necessary stuff for staying, it’s cozy, with traditional details in interior. Also you can participate in master classes: cook dumplings or make traditional lucky sache). Owners made it perfect for guests to have the whole cultural experience. Great Wall is close, and the views are amazing. If you go by yourself on subway, it’s a bit hard to get. Better prepare in advance. On taxi it took 1,5 hour. But the location is worth it.

United KingdomStaff were extremely helpful and really looked after us. We made dumplings together for tea! It was really fun. They then put a movie on for us to enjoy which was an added bonus! This is a really fab place I would recommend it to everyone. We got a Didi (taxi) from Beijing and they arranged a taxi back for us the next day. It was really smooth and easy - took 2 hours each way. This is a really special part of the great wall - we had the full wall to ourselves for most of the day!

United StatesAll was great for us!
This place is adorable! They served us a glass kettle of hot fresh tea on arrival. We took a taxi from PEK for about 300 CNY. My WeChat scanner acted up, so they popped in the taxi and payed it right away then added the exact amount to my bill. That could have been so stressful, so I was so so grateful! The staff were all very kind and worked to accommodate the communication barrier throughout our stay including helping us understand some local things that tourists might not get. It really is like walking into very special space. The entrance is the dining area with beautiful dried flowers hanging, trees, and fresh planted flowers for centers. They have a low tech yard space, so our kids entertained themselves for a bit. It’s actually bigger than I expected. There are probably 7-11 guest rooms, maybe? They have them situated in a way there there’s 3 separate outdoor spaces, so you could be close to people or find a quiet spot. The guest room area in like a long L with courtyards separating, so they are spread out. Great for privacy, but queen rooms and twin rooms are not next door if that’s what you’re imagining. BONUS - They had traditional clothing for borrowing for free, and they said you could take them to the wall for pictures if desired. A couple of notes - This is going to be a little different for people not used to Asia. Western toilets in the rooms, which is great! One of our bathrooms had the curtain around the shower next to the toilet. Separated by the curtain, but wet room style so it might get wet in the room if you just showered. Very normal, so don’t be irritated. Beds were like a thick futon style mattress on a raised platform, so not as firm as a futon on the floor and not as soft as a mattress on box spring. Breakfast was very Asian style with veggies, eggs, rice, and soup. They had steam buns, too! The veg was so good! We loved it. Coffee was purchased separately at the coffee shop. We got an amazing Cappuccino and Latte for 72 CNY together.

United KingdomI loved everything it really is an enchanting place to stay and a must if you visit Beijing .
The hotel was in an amazing place surrounded by mountains and the Great Wall . The views are breathtaking. It was so peaceful serene and stunningly beautiful . The hotel itself was magical with its own beautiful garden , the rooms and restaurant are spotlessly clean and the staff were the most thoughtful kind hosts I have stayed with . Everyday there are traditional Chinese cultural creative activities and cooking lessons to join in with which were so much fun . The staff are so thoughtful kind and go out of their way to make everyone comfortable. All the staff help with experiencing Chinese culture , share local knowledge, transport and places to visit . In three months of travelling this is the best place I have stayed . The food is delicious and they cater for all dietary needs . The restaurant is so friendly and fun and as a solo traveller this was an added bonus .

AustraliaIf sharing a room, wait in between showers to enable the hot water to reheat, just a minor idiosyncrasy but not a big deal. Otherwise nothing negative to report.
Loved the location which was in the foothills of the GWoC (can see it in the near distance). It’s in a semi-rural location which also gives you an insight into the everyday life of locals.

United KingdomWe LOVED this place. Rooms were beautiful and so clean and cosy! The communal areas were spotless, the staff were super helpful (download WeChat for easy communication) and the food was super tasty! It’s a 20-25 minute walk to the Great Wall. They can sort a car for you but you don’t need it. It was so nice to finish a full day at the Wall then just walk back to this place which was warm, cozy and had great tea. The kids loved it and we felt right at home from the minute we walked in. Thanks for everything.
