Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandThe place is a bit rundown compare to the pictures in the wensite.
The bed and the toilet seat is equipped with heater. The location is very close to the old town. Free up snacks and fruits. The place is decorated in tradition Tibetien style.

ThailandThey don’t really help you with your luggages. I traveled with old parents. It would be nice if they would give a hand
They provide free drinks and snacks in common area. I could see also that the place could be pretty in spring or summer when there are lots of flowers I also got the room half of the usual price so to me it is a good deal but if I had to pay full price I might think twice

ThailandThe shower room has big glass window but curtain size seems to be too fit with window size (I may overthink on privacy as no ppl walk pass by the back of hotel alley) and this big window made restroom very cold. The location is alright. However, I’m solo traveler and I feel it’s a bit dark and too quiet when walked back around 8pm.
I chose to stay here due to Tibetan room style. At first, I booked another room on second floor but it had strong smell pipe so the staff upgraded me to another bigger room downstair. Also, main heater is not warm enough for whole room but they gave me extra one to survive the cold night. Staff is nice and helpful. Read a lot comments about carpet smell but I didn’t have this issue. Smart toilet with heated seat.

NorwayThe bathroom had a slight smell, and there were traces of humidity. Some lack of privacy because there was a curtain instead of a door, but we managed.
Amazing interior decor, both in public areas and the rooms, creating an immersive Tibetan atmosphere. Cozy central courtyard with self-serve tea and snacks. Friendly staff and cat. We stayed at the family suite, which had a large sitting area in front of the electric fireplace, where we all gathered in the evening. Located on the edge of the old town, meaning a rather quiet area, but still quite convenient to reach the busier areas. Hotel owner helped to book a car to pick us up from Lijiang, passing by Tiger leaping gorge.

ChinaWe stayed at the Blue moon one night in December. Hotel staff gave us electric heaters since there was no heating system. No breakfast due to Covid epidemic.
Room was big, furnished in traditional tibetan style. Hotel is located in Shangri-la old town so it was easy to get restaurants and attractions.

ChinaThe shower was tricky to adjust and the water went in random directions. The bathroom door is wooden so was a little rotten from the water. The breakfast was a bit limited (my own personal view, some could like it).
Really comfortable, huge bed. The property is in traditional Tibetan style and rustic. Had an electric fireplace to make the room warm and a Japanese toilet. The bathroom was clean. The staff at the front desk was helpful and friendly.

ChinaThe only real downside is that the electric fireplace shown in the pictures did not work. a bit disappointed as we were looking forward to this on the chilly nights. Also, the front desk worker was rude towards the dogs that live there as he was throwing rocks at them when they were barking. He could easily treat them better.
The Tibetan style room had a great feel to it. It was rustic and the room was very spacious. The shower had steaming hot water and the heated toilet was a nice treat! The bed way humongous and comfortable. Even though the hotel is not right in the old town, it is a short walking distance to the old town. The ladies who prepare breakfast each morning are delightful.

NetherlandsThe Blue Mountains On The Moon is located in a quiet area within the Ancient City of Dukezong scenic spot, Shangri La. Therefore it's a great place to stay at if you cherish your quiet time and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy pedestrian area. The room is decorated in Tibetan style and extremely spacious plus providing all the desired necessities like: a separate seating area, two electric heaters (so no need to worry being cold in winter), a humidifier, tea set, Japanese toilet, heating blanket, and even an oxygen generator device (in case of suffering from altitude sickness; extra payment required). The front desk employee is very polite and provides you with a lot of local information like: recommended restaurants, places worthwhile visiting etc etc. All in all The Blue Mountains On The Moon comes highly recommended!

MacaoGreat location, really close to the old town, but still quiet. The room was huge. But what really made my stay exceptional was the front office lady. She was tireless! I had a few problems, and she went above and beyond to help me with everything, from arranging transportation to getting a covid test on short notice. Some things would be really hard for someone that doesn't speak Mandarin. I could not thank her enough.

ChinaIt was only a 5-10 minute walk to the main section of the old town, but definitely not right in the heart of it - not in the pretty part.
Traditional old Tibetan house with lots of character and charm, including creaking floors, heavy drapes in front of all the doors and a glassed in central courtyard. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Being there in early January, we made full-time use of the mobile heating unit to keep the room warm. The manager very kindly upgraded us to a suite for part of our stay. Breakfast was good-sized Chinese style.

ChileNot all features listed were included in the room (e.g. safety deposit box - although it wasn't needed, Kitchenware, alarm clock, etc.) but it seems very possible that they would have been available on request. There was only one near the bed socket and only one bedside lamp. This meant only one person could read in bed. Whilst these may seem minor details, they did detract from the comfort. Editing the list of features would avoid future misunderstandings. The rooms were a little dusty and the logic of some of the fixtures and fittings (e.g. lack of curtains in the room with the castle view, the glass doors between the shower and toilet in the 2nd room with stayed in) is strange but only slightly bothersome.
I would love to give The Blue Mountains a 10 rating but I need to give an objective review. The hotel owner was really lovely. She was extremely helpful, offering sound advice and booking transport. She even offered (free) remedies to help ease my altitude sickness. Breakfast was good, abundant, local cuisine (not the continental breakfast advertised - unless the continent being referred to is Asia:). The staff were all helpful and very, very friendly. The hotel is rustic and offers a truly authentic Shangri-la experience which, however, may not suit everybody. The rooms are decorated tastefully in the local style and the heated toilet a heart-warming feature:) The bed was really comfortable and the location of the property is great (10 minutes from the centre of the old town). It was quiet and the local people extremely friendly. In sum, if you are after an authentic, rustic experience, you won't be disappointed.

United KingdomThe room was located on the found floor facing a construction site outside, which didn't feel particularly reassuring (for a solo traveller like me I suppose) as one can easily jump in and out the room from the windows if one wants. The bathroom could be cleaner.
The room was spacious and decorated in Tibetan style, fully equipped to answer literally every need. The bed was comfy and impressively big. The breakfast provided was good.

ChinaA beautiful hotel in an incredibly old building! We loved our stay here. The whole feeling of the building, the creaking of the old floorboards and the thoughtfully designed interior just made the entire experience of Shangri-La for us. The lady at reception was incredibly welcoming and kind, she also helped book us a taxi for early morning to the airport! The location is perfect, with only a short stroll away from the main square. It's tucked away from the tourist area, meaning you can get a good nights sleep without being disturbed! Some suggestions for the hotel: - Hanging racks for towels after the shower - Hand wash in the extra bathroom That's all! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

GermanyOn the second look, the hotel is pretty run down. We already had a feeling when waiting for a very long time before check-in in the smelly lobby with a lot of caged cats between smelly carpets and furniture. Also, the room turned out to be super smelly because the drainage from the bathroom was not working properly as well as the whole room (deluxe suite) had no windows that were built to be opened. But the worst was that there was a construction site right in front of our room that no one from the hotel told us about. We woke up at 6am in the morning to dozens of men right in front of our room throwing bricks and pipes around, what an absolute disgrace to not tell us before. Sadly, nobody of the staff nor the owner via phone were willing to find a solution.
The hotel was located on a nice street close to some restaurants and the city center. We also liked the interior design with a lot of pretty wood elements, traditional ornaments and carpets.
