Amazing and unique staying in Cabaña. Stunning view. An experience to try once in your life

The room was quite small and the bed was very small, there was not enough place for us to use a curtain against mosquitos, so we were quite bitten by the insect in the morning.

It was very cool and adventurous stay at Cabana Barlovento. The rooms are open - without windows, directly above the Caribic sea, so you can really feel it and also hear it! The surroundings is really beautiful - there are around 5 hotel buildings in this complex, restaurant, bar and the pool. The beach was also very nice for relax although the waves are mostly big and the streams very strong, so be careful. The food was very tasty and the staff was very friendly. We can recommend this place.

Nothing. It’s not recommended for kids, people with disabilities or fiscal limitations.

This is a wonderful place, the room is like a deck over de beach so the waves and the wind give you an unique natural concert. The restaurant is superb, delicious local ingredients, very fair prices. The staff is very kind and gives you all the help you need. There is also a pool, a bar and nice spa. This paradise take you far away from home and give us the rest we just need.

There are two things I would like to see improved. First would be the mattresses and pillows. Both of them were too hard, made it difficult to sleep well. Second, a few more umbrellas or shade at the scattered chairs around the property. Such as the ones at the cabanas facing the river and the ones at the restaurant. Other than that, everything was great.

The breakfast was great: food was cooked just as ordered, very tasty and portions were generous. The view and open air atmosphere at the restaurant added to the positive experience. The staff were always cheerful and accommodating.

We stayed in Cabaña and the wifi in the room was poor. The water coming out of the shower head was weak and cold. There were a lot of bugs in the room at night. All these are for you to keep in mind that it’s a place to be close to nature and not having a lot of luxurious facilities that belong to the cities.

The staff, view, and breakfast are amazing.

.. photos don't show it the photo attached review is taken from the door of the room .. that's it ! . The only photo of a room on booking.com is a room somewhere else .. Bed was on a platform with steep steps, nowhere to put a phone or glass of water near bed, no hot water in room, oh and you could open the locked door by putting your hand round the frame as the cabana is completely open in the front. restaurant menu limited and food very average , last night's prawns overcooked and steak tough, but eating in this is only option as nowhere else near.

We had a mixed experience. While the views were breathtaking, the bathroom wasn’t clean and was separate from the bedroom. The room was hot and was very exposed to the elements (this would have been fine if the elements were nice, but the hotel is on a wavy stretch of rocks and the sea is very violent). We were also unlucky and it was a windy and stormy night. We really struggled to sleep with the deafening and terrifying sounds of huge waves crashing against the rocks below. Hardly the tranquil beach cabin experience we were expecting. We found a huge cockroach inside the bed net. Nevertheless, the hotel was very accommodating and moved us into a lovely room in the main hotel halfway through the night when we asked to change rooms. As courtesy they also paid for our taxi.

People should be aware the cabañas are very basic. No windows, no aircon, no tv, door locks don’t function and the bathroom, not attached was a cross between dilapidated and unclean.

Our transfer didn’t turn up so communication wasn’t great. The food was also pretty rubbish, fish was old and over cooked, made us ill.

stunning location - amazing being on the lake with crocs and on the sea with easy access to the beach. The bar was perfect for sundowners and pool great for spotting Iguanas

Again something positive: all requests and negative aspects I had read in other reviews before were in reality of no concern. The staff must take suggestions really seriously and got an eye for details. (e.g. they supplied ear plugs, a comfy mattress, the food had many veg options and were all tasty, staff was super friendly and chatty)

WOW, what an incredible place with ocean views to one side and the spectacular river to the other. Star gazing at night on the terrace was magical and truly romantic. We enjoyed our days with dips in the ocean and pool, watching local fishermen, spotting Caymans and birds .. what an unforgettable experience. The place is unique, a real sanctuary.
