Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ColombiaNice hotel, well located, but it's not something worth the price paid (facilities are a bit outdated and very basic). The hotel is clean and the staff is very nice and welcoming, although slow at check in and check out. No mini bar - I think that they should have at least a bottle of water available in the room.

United StatesEverything aside from location was terrible. 1) the room is dark, dirty, smelly - absolutely not even 1 star. You turn a faucet on in the bathroom and the entire space and your clothes will get wet. No A/C. Hard bed, thinnest towels possible, dust and grime everywhere. The room door did not properly lock; the safe didn’t work (and safety concerns are very real in Bogota). 2) I checked out immediately, after one night, and on time, after letting the hotel know I was not satisfied. They insisted on charging me the fee for one more night, and promised to refund 3 more nights that I had paid for. 10 weeks and about 20 emails later, there’s no refund. After requesting my routing/acct number, address, IBAN, copies of paper checks and all sorts of other private bank info, as opposed to just reversing the charge on my card, they went totally dark. So I paid $262 for a room I didn’t even use, while I also paid for the next hotel I booked and stayed at.
Good location, near T-Zone.

PanamaThe hotel was fine at first but then on the first night we realized that the rooms didn't have air conditioning and the walls were so thin that you could hear everything that happened in other rooms and in the corridors.
Location was perfect. Everything was walking distance.

CanadaPART 2/2 In essence, they attempted an unlawful charge, canceled the reservation, and persistently deceived. Upon confronting them the following day with Booking.com's findings, they fell conspicuously silent. Their response was a feeble attempt to feign ignorance, claiming they were still unaware of the situation. When I emphasized the unauthorized charge attempt and the absence of any applicable policy, their response was a hollow expression of concern. I am currently engaged in ongoing correspondence with Booking.com, but I implore you, fellow travelers, to avoid this establishment at all costs. I strongly urge you to peruse other reviews, as this pattern of behavior persists. My suspicion is that my initial booking at a favorable rate prompted them to concoct this dubious policy, which I am convinced is legally questionable. Never in my extensive travels have I encountered such a nightmarish ordeal. Stay vigilant and choose your accommodations wisely.
WORST EXPERIENCE - PART 1/2 Dear Travelers, I feel compelled to share my recent harrowing experience with Mercure Bogota BH Retiro, as a cautionary tale for fellow travelers. Please take the time to read this in full. After conducting thorough research and discovering similar reviews, it appears that this is not an isolated incident; it borders on what can only be described as a scam. To begin, I received an alarming email on the very day of my check-in, stating that my credit card needed validation or my reservation would be canceled. Considering I was scheduled for surgery that day, complying promptly was an impossibility. Upon arrival at the hotel, their behavior struck me as peculiar. They claimed they couldn't locate my reservation, despite my assurance that everything was confirmed and visible on my app. Upon pressing them to double-check, they surprisingly admitted that Booking.com had canceled it, asserting it was beyond their control. To make matters worse, the hotel was fully booked, leaving me in a dire predicament. This was deeply concerning for several reasons: 1) I required rest post-surgery, 2) I specifically chose this hotel for its proximity to family and necessary assistance, and 3) the alternative location they suggested was far from ideal. Their behavior was not only unprofessional but also shockingly rude. They attempted to explain the workings of Booking.com to me, despite my extensive prior usage without a hitch. That night, I managed to secure alternative accommodation and promptly contacted Booking.com. Booking.com conducted a thorough investigation and confirmed the following: “After careful review and assessment of our resources and capacity, I confirm that the reservation has been canceled by Mercure Bogota BH Retiro after they have tried to take payments for your reservation prior to your arrival despite you having no deposit policy and they were also the ones who set the deadline for you to update the card details.”

United States Minor Outlying IslandsThe hotel doesn't have air conditioning. Bogota is cold, when you are outdoors but indoors not so much. So, you have an open window to fresh the room. In a busy city, not a great idea. It was difficult to get a good rest with the outside noise.
The location was great. Walking distance from T Zone area, and Andino Shopping Mall. I feel very safe walking around the neighborhood. Just across the hotel is nice park and very nice restaurants like Maison Kayser, a nice microbrewery and at the corner a Mercado with a huge variety of local fruits.

GermanyThese are not something that I didn't like, but more of notes: the breakfast was nice, but not that many varieties. At around 10/11pm I could still hear some noises/music from outside of my room (don't know where it came from). The room is quite basic.
The location is perfect. Many nice cafes and restaurants are nearby. Staff were all friendly.

United KingdomThe coffee machine in the room did not have any coffee pods when we arrived. We also had to pay 5000 COP for each additional pod we wanted after the first two (which we had to ask for at reception), which is pretty pricey for a small coffee pod. It's a shame you don't get more than one complimentary. The hotel says it has a fitness suite, but it is just a treadmill and a bike - something to be aware of if you are coming with high hopes of exercising. The bed was a little hard, and like others have said, if others are in the hallway it is very loud.
The hotel is ideally located for Zona T and Zona Rosa in Bogota. The decor is modern and the rooms are fine. The room comes with a coffee machine and (if you're lucky) two coffee pods. They were able to check us in an hour early as we arrived ahead of time - we didn't expect to be able to, so it was excellent of them. The rooms are a decent enough size. The shower is hot!

ColombiaThe staff behave horrendously, they werre patronizing when we needed help , and right down to creepy and threatful to me and my mother when we asked for information or required assitance this place should be ashamed of their staff they are basically street thugs. They really are on the verge of being a criminals and I'm seariously thinking about sueing this property because the level of negligence was startling . Be very careful with them and ask for everything that they promise you on writing.
