On my first day I found out that the phone in the room leads to nowhere. You cannot call the front desk or any other services. I ended up having to call the WhatsApp number that the hotel used to communicate with me to get in touch with someone at the hotel to get me a chair in the room. You just cannot reach the front desk or any human with the room phone. While the room was spacious with two couches, it was not functional for me as we did not need two couches. A small desk and chair would be better to replace one of the couches. I needed a chair to do some work on my laptop and had to use the edge of the TV stand area as my desk. There are four flights of wooden stairs to climb and no elevators. Tough with luggage and if you have to do this several times a day. We were on the third floor. I was offered the ground floor at first but declined because I don't usually like the hotel activity noises of ground floor areas. The reception area is too cramped. Not enough space for guests arriving with luggage, guests checking out, and guests waiting for transportation in one small area. I realize it is a boutique hotel but this is the most important area of any hotel and should be reasonably laid out.

This is a gorgeous boutique hotel just a short walk to the malecon in Santa Marta. Room was spacious, good air conditioning, comfortable bed, and large bathroom with nice amenities. Place has pool and hot tub. Excellent breakfast to start the day. Friendly and helpful staff.

Mom and daughter ran hotel. So warm and friendly, they made us feel so good and cared for. They were awesome at keeping in touch with us about an issue with the power going down during our stay (it didn’t end up going down!) but it was appreciated to be kept in the loop! Our breakfast was FAB - beat breakfast of our whole trip. I can’t say enough great things about this hotel. We will be back and we will be telling our friends about this wonderful little gem!

Lovely colonial style development. Very comfortable and stylish rooms, good restaurant, multiple pools, and rooftop bar all make it very easy place to relax and hide from the heat and bustle of Santa Marta. Very helpful staff on call 24x7.

The requested spa service never took place - one therapist was late and the other very lste.

The only problem is the location, which gets sketchy after dark. Nevertheless, we would stay here again.

The architecture is amazing and the ambiance is very relaxing. They also gave us a great breakfast. We were very happy with our experience at the hotel.

Even though the hotel is located downtown, to got there on foot from the main square(s) during evening hours did not feel the most "hearthwarming" experience.

It’s located next to a garbage collection point, which isn’t very pleasant.

The staff at the reception, especially Jose-David spoke excellent English and was exceptionally attentive. The cleaning staff were always cheerful and the kitchen staff made delicious food with a lot of attention to details. It’s centrally located, many restaurants and historical sites in 5 min walking distance, with 3 small pools, very refreshing.

Food service times are longer than some places but for real homecooked food, we did not mind waiting, just order early and relax.

The hotel is located at the historic district which is perfect to walk during the day, moreover at night time I think is a little unsafe to walk around .

I like the facilities, the hotel is very nice and clean. Casa Carolina is hotel with a lot of charming and beautiful environment.

This is very close to the city centre however we were told some streets around the hotel were not safe to walk at night. We never felt unsafe in anyway, but that threw us off a little bit.

This place is very beautiful, we were served a delicious breakfast every morning. Service was just great, we did really take advantage of all their pools. Overall a great experience.

Very sweet team of people at the reception! Good hotel layout, just loved the tropical look of the courtyard with the pools, the multi-level layout and the tranquility of the place. The home branded bath products (shampoo, shower gel, lotion) were great, felt all all organic. Location was ideal.

Location-even though it was in the historical center, you cannot walk alone on the street even during day. There are shady people around the hotel. As long as you are taking a taxi, you will be fine-most of the people use taxis even for 200ms

Very nice hotel, comfortable rooms and delicious breakfast. The staff was also eager to help you with anything. The pools are really nice to spend a day sunbathing, as the public beach in santa marta is not to bathe.

Great hotel! nice pool, super clean, friendly staff! In the city center of Santa Marta, close to the bus station to Tayrona park and 10 minutes away from nice diving spots! Good breakfast, would definitely come back!
