Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryThe hotel was totally fabolous. The colonial building, interior is simply lovely and the staff is amazing. We stayed in the room upstairs, which actually meant the entire upper floor with a huge terrace. Getting around was also easy due to the central location.

GermanyVery beautiful building in the old city centre of Santa Marta. Bars, restaurants and sea close by. We had the presidential suite whith a beautiful balcony. Felt like having your own house. The breakfast was served in the beautiful lobby close to the pool. The arepas and the service of Daiana was extraordinary!!! We will definately return.

United StatesThis is a small and very old and charming hotel, located half a block away from the street that comes alive at night with restaurants and street musicians. Breakfasts were delicious.

United StatesThis hotel was amazing! The room, pool and especially the staff was very hospitable. The lady who made us breakfast was very attentive and also helped us out ordering a taxi to the airport. She waited until she made sure we got in the right one! I highly recommend Casa Gaitana.

United KingdomThe hot water occasionally cut out- but the shower was still nice. No sign outside made it slightly tricky to find (it’s Casa del Pozo)- but again, no big deal!
Beautiful old building in a great location for exploring Santa Marta. Comfortable bed and great AC in the room. Very friendly staff who let us store our bags there for free whilst we did the Lost City trek. Good breakfast - juice, coffee, fruit, granola, eggs and arepas.

NetherlandsThe 2 air-conditioning units are not strong enough to work up against the immense heat of Santa Marta. The one in the smaller bedroom is able to cool down that room, but I chose to sleep in the main bedroom. I only stayed one night and not on a weekend which was good because other visitors told me that the rooftop adjacent to the presidential suite and the private roof terrace of the presidential suite gets really loud at night.
I had the presidential suite, which was massive. It was exactly my taste in decoration with antiques. The pool was nice to cool down and the breakfast was nice. I liked the look of it all and its location. The beds are quite hard but I like that.

United KingdomCentral location means noise at night - especially music from the restaurants . Earplugs get around this. Room was a little dark but then this was because it was cool and shaded.
The warmest welcome from Diana and the other staff were very friendly and helpful . Lovely old style room. Clean and comfortable . Only 4 rooms so peaceful atmosphere and open, public spaces to share. Delicious breakfast . Central location.

GermanyCan be noisy at night, with the music from bars and discos nearby. The lounges at the pool are hard as the wood they are made from. The practically non-existent light in the bathroom. Great for ignoring wrinkles, but try to paint one’s face 😉
The colonial house is said to be 300 years old, and a gem inside. Beautifully decorated, the rooms/suites with high ceilings, comfortable bed, enough space. Great pool in the patio to unwind and cool down. Very good breakfast and super friendly staff.

United KingdomThere is nothing about the property I didn’t like. Santa Marta itself as a town was not something I liked as much but I came there for the trek to the lost city with expotur which is conveniently located 1 minute away (and a very recommended tour operator) so for me I had a great experience
I stayed here before I went on the hike to ciudad perdida and afterwards. The place is so lovely and huge and they are very able and happy to keep your belongings for you when you are on the trek. For me it was a perfect place to rest and relax with the lovely pole and surroundings. The staff are really lovely and helpful, the rooms are a good size / breakfast is lovely.

United KingdomI loved everything about it. The rooms are nice and cosy
Lovely old house, inside there is a large area to sit and dine, a big kitchen and open pool which is mainly in the shade a perfect place to chill. The staff are super helpful and friendly and will look after you very well. They speak mainly Spanish but with some help from google translate there is no problem
