Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesYou get attacked by mosquitos but I talked to people at other hostels who had similar experiences so it might just be a Capurgana thing more than a Reggae hostel thing. Also, the hostel is not well marked and can be hard to find the first time. I did text the owner and he promptly gave me directions and met me out front so that helped.
The owner was very helpful and always willing to help. Also, its not to far from the town center so you can walk to and from. Also, the outdoor/indoor showers were surprisingly refreshing and definitely a highlight of the hostel! Also, wifi is surprisingly good considering how remote the town is.

NetherlandsHouse is made out of wood and decorated by using rubbish, very eco way of building. Place looks very nice and the owner takes very good care of it and keeps it very clean. House is very basic, but has everything you need including kitchen and also laundry is possible. Owner is there lots of the time and always in for a dinner, chat and always willing to help. Its like sharing a house and it really felt like home.

DenmarkOne day the resort next to the hostel played loud music in their pool area, but only experienced it one of the evenings.
The atmosphere at Casa Reggae was relaxed and positive. Rasta has build the house himself and it is a (habitable) piece of art. Rasta was very warm, kind and welcoming, and he keeps the place very clean and tidy.

GermanyWe didn't mind, but just keep in mind, that you are living in a kind of open house, so you hear all the surrounding noises of nature but also the village.
Jair is the Creator of Casa Reggae and you can see how much thought and effort he put in there. Therefore he also keeps it very clean. He helped us out with everything we needed and we really felt at home there!

United KingdomWe stayed for 2 nights. The first issue was that we were asked to pay the equivalent of £45+ 6% tax when using the card machine. Booking had quoted the price as £40. The host then forgot to add the tax so made me pay it in cash. I wish I had challenged the extra charges as the hostel was outrageously overpriced. The hostel has no locks on any doors (rooms, bathroom, no front door). So security and privacy are completely absent. This is fine in some situations, but the host herself was nervous at times - once when a random guy on a motorbike showed up she went running to check who it was before leaving the hostel and once saying she had to make sure she had left the money in a safe place before going out - clearly we don’t live in a utopia and bad people can still be around. Also the town of Capurgana operates on cash as there is no ATM so obviously all tourists have huge amounts of pesos or dollars with their possessions. On the first night (a Thursday) there was a ‘jam session’ which just consisted of people from the hostel and their friends from outside drinking, smoking weed, and listening to loud music until 1am. After a long journey we just wanted to sleep. It’s not advertised as a party hostel and their values are meant to incorporate ‘respecting others’ (which is the reason they give for no locks). After sunset the electricity would normally run from a generator. On the second night the generator broke down and the host wasn’t able to fix it. That night the roof of our room also leaked. So we were without power and also soggy. We had things to organise for the rest of our trip which we weren’t able to do without the Wi-Fi and power. The ‘room’ we had was essentially a sort of glamping shack. No electric light (even when power worked), roof to low to stand,no walls, but there were bedbugs. There was no soap for washing hands in any of the bathrooms throughout the stay. Wildly overpriced for £25 a night.
I appreciated the creativity and craftsmanship that had gone into making the building. It was very unique and impressive. I also liked the hammock next to our ‘room’.

United KingdomUnfortunately the mosquito net wasn't functional, and we got a lot of bites during the night.
