How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The front office man is the nicest person I have ever met in the Hotel. He made me feel super welcome and always had a smile on his face. I stored my fruits in the fridge and kept my luggage in the storage at the day of departure. Would always come back to this hostel :)! It’s in a great spot!

There is a very nice pastry shop sharing the same inner court and in the afternoon it’s a bit noisy. There’s no music or things like that, just people chatting, but it was a bit difficult to take a nap in the late afternoon, but you can ask for the earplugs at the reception. The breakfast place was a bit cold in the morning and should be heated up. The shower amenities were functional but the flow of water was a bit poor. It’s a bit pricey in my opinion. I ended up spending 220 euro for 6 nights
The place is very simple but every detail has the attention of the staff. Very friendly, clean, and peaceful.

Being a hostel, it is fairly spartan.
Friendly place with a fantastic location close to all you need to see in Bogotá's La Candelaria neighbourhood. Great value for money.

Things to note. The door bell goes off throughout the night to let people into the hostel, perhaps just a contact number for the staff member working during the night would be better rather than waking everyone up throughout the hostel. Also, the pillows on the bed are quite large leading to a sore neck in the morning.

Our flight arrived really early in the morning and we were allowed to check in early with no extra charge. Bfast was really great value for 150 pesos. All the staff was really attentive and kind.

Room can be a little chilly, but the bed had 2 blankets, so it was not a real problem.
Staff was really nice, room and bathroom were very clean. Good location. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Very well located in Candelaria which is a good starting point to explore the city. The owner is wonderful and will help you with any concern, even if your spanish is mediocre at best😊

If you want a calm, quiet, clean sleeping place in Bogota, Candelaria - go to Explora Hostels! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic, but good quality of beds and calm/ dark in the night. Nice and warm shower :-)

Breakfast was great- fruit and omelette which was super tasty Carlos was super attentive and made sure we got everything we needed! Gave some amazing tips for our stay They let us leave our bags for the afternoon as we had a late bus at 12:00AM

No complaints! Actually will miss there welcoming smiles each morning!
Perfect location close to everything (all very walkable) yet just far away enough for quiet nights. This is a family business that makes you part of the family and immediately addressing any questions or issues (including very low cost taxi service). Hottest shower I have ever had in a hostel (just need to wait a few minutes). I hope to stay here again in my final days of travel in Columbia.
