Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. United KingdomLa Selvita truly stands out as a hidden gem. Polo, Alice and the team are warm and genuine, going above and beyond to ensure their guests are well taken care of. Polo and the story of La Selvita's adds a captivating layer of character to the place, drawing visitors in. My only regret was not being able to stay for the full duration of my visit! The meals were amazing, with refreshing, freshly prepared vegetarian dishes. The chocolate was a highlight, and the tour was both informative and enjoyable (well the part I went to!). My room was spacious and well-equipped, and I particularly loved my snooze in the hammock, where I drifted off to the soothing melody of the nearby stream and birdsong. There is a lot of attention to detail ie. the rooms are not closed off from nature, the breakfast bench has an amazing view of the forest and sea etc...! I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend to solo travellers, you feel safe and well looked after at the finca. Just make sure you stay for a good period of time :). With all the gratitude in the world to the La Selvita team <3

ColombiaThere is a 20 minutes walk to get to the finca and you follow the beautiful stream, sound of water along the way & see all the variety of plants growing. I got a warm welcome from the staff & Polo. To my surprise there was a delicious treat once I arrived. I like the fact that we are further from all the touristy areabut still close by with the bus or motortaxi. It almost feels like a mini community & i would definitly stay more than 1 night when i come again. Polo uses alot of his own produce thats on the finca to prepare the meals so the flavors of the food served is amazing! I ate like a queen :) The cacao tour was very nice and it only made me even more passionate of chocolate, enjoy & savor it before you leave Much gratitude to have met everyone here & to be part of this hidden gem 😊🌺

It was an absolute pleasure staying with our host Polo! He has the most wonderful energy and his passion for his Finca radiates through to his guests. The very rewarding walk is roughly 20mins up along a jungle road with a few shallow stream crossings adding to the adventure leading to the most spectacular location. The accommodation is situated near a river with sea views, it is very relaxing and has everything required to make the stay comfortable. This is a great place for reflection time and to learn about the cacao process from start to finish. Polos tour is relaxed and very informative, it is well worth taking the trip up to stay there or to go on his amazing cacao and fruit tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Thank you Polo for making this part of our trip very memorable!

If you have the chance, make a stop at the Finca in the little Jungle (= La Selvita) Paulo takes care of. We had the best breakfast in Colombia with the stunning view over the jungle and the ocean. In the evening you can eat some healthy and tasty food here, too. Paulo also offers a Cacao Tour and let you experience how chocolate is produced and tastes when it is freshly made. Yummy!!! Take the tour when you can't spend the night. Moreover, he explains which tropical fruits and herbs grow in the "garden." Take the little steep walk up the hill, and if you have backpacks, don't worry, he'll organise a mule for you carrying it up the hill. Be aware that you are in the middle of nature, bring some repellent in the rainy season, and enjoy the luxury to experience some real peace and silence.

United KingdomMake sure to check in/travel during daylight so it’s easier. The view makes up for the hike but can feel a good walk when you’re carrying bags. Shoes you don’t mind getting a bit wet on the way is advisable. Sure this won’t be an issue for long with Polo’s big plans! Bring insect spray.
Polo (host) was incredible, the food he cooked for us was fantastic and exactly what we needed after travelling through the fried food of south and Central America. View is 100% worth the hike. Chocolate tour was also great, perfect insight into the area and farm life. Perfect way to stay in the jungle.

United KingdomWe recently had the pleasure of staying at this hidden gem. The mule pick-up service added a unique touch, making us feel like true adventurers as we arrived at the property. Our room had breathtaking views and we couldn't get enough of the ever-changing panorama and the sounds of the river stream and birds around us. We enjoyed Polo's culinary skills, showcasing local flavors and ingredients. The chocolate tour was an absolute highlight! Learning about the process while indulging in treats was an experience we won't soon forget. Also the inclusion of local fruits from the grounds was a delightful touch. It felt like a genuine connection to the land and its offerings. From the moment we arrived to the second we left, Polo's warm hospitality and attention to detail were evident. If you're seeking a getaway that combines stunning scenery, outstanding cuisine, and unforgettable experiences, look no further than this hidden gem!

GermanyIt was this comment title "Paradise on Earth" which was why we ended up here - and that's exactly what we found: * Peace, quietness and lots of nature * Wonderful views and lots of space * Great food * Divine chocolate * Unbelievably delicious fruits from the own garden * Soul charming hours in the hammock * Delightful cocoa and fruit tour * And a really wonderful host! The accommodation is already very special: an open stilt house, with the guest room on the "second floor" and the covered terrace, from which one can look from the hammock swinging up to the sea and surrender to the murmur and rustle of the jungle. Downstairs are the kitchen, bathrooms, another terrace and the owners room. Polo is a wonderful host - with a sense of distance and restraint or contact and encounter, depending on what it takes at the time. Also communication is great – immediately via WhatsApp with precise instructions on the location of the accommodation and how to get there. Important to know: Yes, the way to the finca is as long as it says in the description and in the comments. And yes, the 15-20 minutes are somewhat arduous - and the effort is absolutely worth it! If you really want to immerse yourself and have time for the fantastic cocoa and fruit tour, we recommend at least two nights :D

FranceEverything was perfect at Finca La Selvita. We stayed for one night in this little paradise and didn't want to leave. Everything from the location, in the heart of the jungle, to the food our host made, his good attention to the cleanness of the house was perfect. We also did the chocolate tour which was amazing. You get to see the entire process from start to finish. Polo first takes you around this garden, explains all the trees and plants that grow there. It truly is a little paradise. You get to try some fruits as well. Then you make your own chocolate and eat it, and it is honestly the best chocolate I have ever had. Polo is so passionate and it is such a pleasure to be around him. He makes you feel very welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend this entire experience. Thank you Polo for everything.

United KingdomEverything about the stay was incredible. The room and place itself was immaculate and had the most amazing view of the sea and the stars at night. Polo is so friendly and helpful and makes you feel like you are at home instantly. He also makes amazing breakfasts/dinners! We initially weren’t planning on doing the chocolate tour but we’re glad we did. It was so interesting not only about his chocolate making process but the work that went into it and also all the other plants and fruits that are grown organically on the land. The chocolate obviously is amazing too and has to be tried! We found it really easy to get around the local area and visited several local beaches during our stay which were beautiful and a lovely change from the stressful beaches of Cartagena.

NetherlandsAmazing! Incredible view (a small hike of around 20 min uphill to get there but for us this was part of the whole experience and actually really cool - but you have to consider this if you have heavy luggage or injuries) and you will have the accommodation basically for yourself, which makes it an unique experience. Polo was the greatest host. He cooked delicious meals for us and showed us his cacao/fruit farm. Definitely recommend to do the tour with him.

We spent 2 perfect nights there. Breakfast was great! One morning Polo made crepes with selfmade chocolate cream- it was delicious! I am highly recommend the chocolate tour. During the tour Polo showed us the different Kakao plants and many other fruit trees and we made a chocolate ourselves and of course we ate it afterwards - it was the best chocolate I have ever tried! The house was also free of animals. This may be interesting for those who are afraid of spiders. ;) We found that the 20minutes hike to the finca was part of the adventure.

CanadaNothing. The hike to get to it can feel a little strenuous at times (especially if you have lots of luggage) but really, it’s part of the experience to already start appreciating the beautiful nature, and it’s the only way to get that secluded and peaceful setting it provides.
It was a beautiful experience from start to finish. The finca it a little piece of paradise in the middle of a lush tropical jungle. It’s a bit of a hike up, which is important to be aware of, but it is beyond worth it once you arrive to the gorgeous and serene cabaña, with the most incredible views, and are greeted with freshly squeezed orange juice from the countless fruit trees on the property. Additionally, Polo is a wonderful host with tons of knowledge and expertise in all the abundant nature that makes up his finca. We took the chocolate (and fruit) tour he offers and it was out of this world. You get to walk around the land trying all the delicious fruits (including the yummy cacao fruit, which I had never tried before!) and then shows you the whole process of chocolate-making from bean to chocolate bar. And of course you get to try the chocolate in every stage (including drinking it out of a shot glass. Need I say more?). This is not just an accommodation, it’s a whole adventure, and I could not recommend it more. (oh ya! and the bed was suuuuuper comfortable & mosquito net actually functional, which is not always the case.)
