Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI cannot think of anything. Maybe an extra table would be better to put the luggage on top. But overall, it was a great stay.
All was good. We had a room with balcony so it was nice. The property is half a block from the main square. It feels secure. It is well illuminated. The tub hot water works. Bed was comfy. I did not use the tv but it was big. I did not use the wifi.

United StatesThe cleaning service was excellent and the girls at the reception were very friendly and the man on the night shift was very attentive. The only thing I didn't like was that the room didn't have a safety box and also had to ask for a fan. because on nights sometimes is realy hot didn't have an iron at the time, never told me that parking and breakfast were taken at another hotel . but it's not that far away, if you have several suitcases it's not comfortable to carry them to the car but they do help you if you need the service. Otherwise it's very well located to the main square and the restaurants.

ColombiaThey should be more specific about the costs and requirements for bringing pets, the additional cost wasn't specified, the staff told me he would talk about it with the ones in charge and that depending on what they say they wouldn't charge it, it was charged it in the check out without any other explanation than "you have the pet cost pending" (it wasn't pricey anyways) but I consider communication very important, alsothey wanted to charge it in cash which I refused (it doesn't make sense because I payed everything with my credit card - why is that different?)
Staff was very nice and helpful for the most part, and the restaurant and breakfast was really good too, the food and fruits were very fresh and we really appreciated that

AustraliaThe balcony was nice to have, but was very small and can only really be used to stand and watch up and down the street. I guess this is in keeping with the building style though. Given the location, it was a bit noisy at night, but nothing too bad; besides I was out in the evening contributing to noise for other hotels! :-)
I really liked this little character-filled hotel and my lovely room with balcony and fabulous bathroom. The room was quite small (bathroom quite large) but had everything I needed. The bed was super-comfortable and pillows, linens and towels of a high quality. The staff were very friendly and always greeted me with a smile. The location is very central to everything. I saw other reviews complaining about the walk to the hotel, but this is same as many others and if you want the central location, it's not enough to complain about. Likewise, I didn't see an issue with the very short walk to the other hotel for breakfast; it was kind of nice to mix it up a bit.

FranceI found two minor invonveniences. They don’t have the breakfast restaurant on site, we have to go to their sister hotel located just 3 minutes away. There is coffee and water available though! As it’s an old colonial house, there is virtually no sound isolation. From the rooms you can hear everything happening in the patio, hallway or the street.
It’s a gorgeous house converted into a hotel. Rooms are large, bathroom / shower clean and recent. The staff is super nice and friendly; check-in and check-out were smooth. The location is perfect, just a few steps from the Plaza Mayor with its church and restaurants.

Spain.
Great staff, very close to the main square. Luz, the lady who helps out in cleaning and many other things, was very nice and helped us fix an issue very quickly. María also helped us get to the parking spot very easily. People in Villa de Leyva are generally very kind. The hotel is part of a three hotel network, so you have to go to the bigger one to get a very nice breakfast. We enjoyed everything!!

United StatesI wish the hotel would be more flexible with the check in time as we traveled three hours to get to Villa de Leyva and were ready for some down time. We knew that our room was available because the doors of the unoccupied rooms remain open and we sure would have benefited from being able to rest for a little bit before starting with the planned tours and activities around the city.
The hotel website did not indicated that breakfast was included so we had breakfast on the road. Once we arrived to the hotel we learned that two hotels (Campanario de La Villa and Campanario Real) are a consortium with Hotel Jardines de la Villa (where we stayed) and we were informed that breakfast and the swimming pool were availbale at the hotel Campanario de la Villa.

United KingdomBecause it's such an old beautiful building and windows in most rooms go into courtyard it's important to be mindful that sounds carries very well, better bring earplugs for light sleepers if staying at the weekend. Rooms are a bit dark but since we were out most of the day, we didn't mind.
Location of Hotel Jardines De La Villa couldn't be more perfect, we have traveled as a big family of 10 and with elderly it was easy to walk everywhere. Beautiful building, with the open courtyard and rooms around it, It has a nice rustic feel but it's well maintained and very clean. There are also coffee/ tea and drinking water in the courtyard. Rooms are comfortable with nice bathrooms and powerful showers. Breakfast is served in nearby sister hotel 5 minutes walk and was excellent. Staff is a highlight! Tania was taking care of us from the moment we arrived going above and beyond to accommodate our needs, so lovely, thank you so much! The whole family loved the place and would stay again when visiting Villa de Leyva.
