Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Awesome Cabaña in the middle of nowhere. A lot of space and an incredible outdoor bathroom. The whole team was very nice and was caring about us like family. Highly recommend to stay here when in the Tatacoa desert!

United StatesThe entire area is extremely hot in the mid afternoon so either sit in pool until 5pm comes around or sit in front of the room fan for few hours.
Clean, nice rooms and bathrooms for the region. A very peaceful & beautiful setting free of noise pollution and the masses. A great place to relax and unwind. There’s a large pool that pumps ground water from the desert to cool down during the very hot mid-day. It gets very hot so a pool is a must. Also a fan is a must to endure the heat which each individual rooms has. Once 5pm hits, the temp of the area becomes very comfortable and one can sit and enjoy nature, the amazing view, and one of the best sunsets you’ll experience. The owners and staff are also very kind and accommodating. Huge portion for dinners.

The location and the staff very friendly. Since we were the only ones they upgraded us for free to a bigger room. The breakfast was simple and delicious.the staff assisted us with the tour and even directed us till the ferry.

This is the place you’re looking for if you want to be surrounded by stunning landscape yet feeling at home thanks to the amazing staff. We got a transportation service from Neiva and a tour where Ferney, walked us through the stunning architecture of the desert. John Camilo (and Berlin!) is the best host, very welcoming and accommodating and all the staff really. The cabin is comfortable, with everything you need and very clean. At night you can enjoy stargazing and the pool is really a plus considering the hot temperature. Highly recommend!

We loved our time here! Everyone was very friendly, the cabin was very big and super clean, the home-cooked dinner each night was amazing. We also booked a tour through the deserts with them (Ferney is an official guide) and it was very fun, despite our limited Spanish. We would definitly come again.

DenmarkNothing, it was an incredible experience to stay at the Star Lounge Hotel.
The hotel’s location is out in nowhere, which we found amazing! The staff was super friendly and attentive. The hotels dog makes sure to chase away any animals during the night, so we slept with our doors open to allow air flow through our room. The facilities are very basic, which is part of the hotel’s charm in our opinion. If was really warm in the evenings, but the hotel provided a fan, and with open doors it was not a problem: We didn’t have to plan any of the activities, the hotel’s driver Juan Camilo made sure to tailor the program according to our wishes and was super flexible. He ensured to bring us everywhere (which is very difficult by yourself even with a car in this area) and he also coordinated with the local guide and with the hotel kitchen to fit our wishes.

FinlandThe dog was barking in the middle of the night several times and for quite a long time.
The staff was great, such a lovely family! They helped with everything - transportation, offered ice for water bottles, coffee etc. The place is beautiful and I like that it's remote. It's in walking distance from the grey part, Valle de las Fantasmas etc. Dinner was ok since there weren't any other options available as the place is a bit isolated. You can eat a cheap lunch close to the Piscinas or red part of the desert.

NetherlandsNo clear signposts and the google maps location is not correct so ensure you get directions There are no comfortable chairs to relax after diner. Also at dinner very basic seats (wooden block) Small bed and not the best mattress but that counts for the whole of Colombia, at least in our experiences so far The tour they offer is ‘t really a tour, you need to drive your own car or hop on their motorcycle and they guide you.
Remote location, great outdoor shower Super friendly owners Diner options are tasty, plates are big enough to share Basic but tasty breakfast (eggs fruit and slice of bread)

The dinners were really good, especially the veggie burger A tip for travellers: you can take a night bus of magdalena tours which takes you to Aipe (you have to tell them to drop you of there), from there its a 20 min walk to Villavieja, from there on you can take any taxi to the place

John is by far the most friendly host we’ve ever met. He responds quick, is very kind and helps to make the best out of your trip in Tatacoa. The dinner and breakfast are very tasty, the location in the desert is magic and his 2 dogs are lovely as well. In addition to this, he can arrange a guide for both the red and the grey desert and this guide is very good as well, definately don’t skip the grey part of the desert, it’s beautiful and if you are lucky like us, you can spot a lot of animals! We give John a 10+!
