The place was further away than we expected, but to be honest this was our own fault because we didn't do any research beforehand. And in the end we were happy with the location after all because you hear nothing but the birds. We loved it!

Lovely quiet place in nature. The deluxe room was very comfortable with an amazing view. We also loved that there was a swimming pool and very good food. The hostess helped us arrange our transport to explore the desert.

-It is quite far, but very peaceful. -Because I arrived at night, I didn't know which direction was which, so it would have been nice to have some signs indicating which way was towards the hotel main building and which was further out.

-Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The son (Esteban) and wife drove me to the airport and were kind enough to let me drop off my bag and then brought me to the mall to get some lunch. They were very patient. -Breakfast was good and included. -It was remote. -Dinner was delicious (book ahead of time). -The room was LUXURIOUS for the desert -- a couch, bathtub, soft, good-smelling towels.

Absolutely stunning desert campsite! Really cool accommodation in the middle of the desert, the garden was beautiful and the natural pool was perfect in the desert heat. Really enjoyed the eco friendly attitude of the hotel, they clearly care a lot about the environment and the nature and animals around this place. Rooms were awesome, we were staying in a skybed and it was a super unique experience.

At one with nature, birds, quiet, a chance to unwind and be at rest. The "houses" are far enough apart to have privacy. The pool uses naturally thermal waters in the oasis of the hotel base, where lots of different species of birds can be seen. Great food served by happy people.

It’s more deeper in the dessert, so drives are a bit longer (but really worth it in my opinion).

A small little gem in the dessert, where the garden, communal areas, food are really amazing where you’re really one with nature. The best thing is the people working there who are very nice, sweet, authentic people and really think and do whatever they can to think along in giving you the best experience: organising transport, borrowing their phone, driving you or picking you up, advising where to go). There’s a lot of consciousness in being ecofriendly and in the products they use. The location is amazing and sleeping in the dessert with sunsets/sunrises is a once in a lifetime experience.

An oasis in the middle of Tatacoa that makes you feel like you’re the only people in the world. Beautiful location, great pool, freshly made food, welcoming staff (Alejandro went above and beyond, helping us with transport and activities). The rooms were clean and comfortable. A special place.

It is far from town so you just have to be prepared to pay the extra for a tuktuk. It was very easy to organise once we arrived in villavieja town square and cost €100,000 pes. It is possible to do the Tatacoa tour on route and with the tuktuk and you can leave your bags as you go for a walk. We wish we'd known this before. But we arranged it for the next day on the way back from the hotel with the same tuktuk driver for €150,000 pes

The team were all so welcoming, food and drinks were all delicious. The natural pool was perfect for after a very hot day in the desert. The view of the stars is incredible.

We had a fantastic stay here in the Desert! The staff were fantastic, they organised transport for us to and from Neiva and also helped us organise a tour of the desert. The food was delicious and the menu is very varied for a small business. The room was comfortable but also felt very remote and private and the star gazing net was a great bonus! Would really recommend staying here if you want some peace and a true desert experience.

The tuk-tuk driver who we were recommended by this accommodation was a little rude and awkward. After agreeing pickup times he tried to change them, and wasn't happy when we said that earlier times were unsuitable. He did this on two separate occasions. After the second trip he also asked for a tip as, according to him, we had 'mucho dinero'. He also told the owner at our next accommodation the same thing. If we were to return we would find a tuk-tuk driver by ourselves in Villavieja (they are plentiful). And although he charged us 10,000 COP below the set fare to Qji (100,000 COP), we would rather pay the full amount than have to deal with him again. This is not entirely the fault of the accommodation - we cannot fault it at all. It's just something to be aware of if staying here.

We loved our stay here. It was a bit of a splurge for us on an otherwise budget trip to Colombia and it did not disappoint. We loved stargazing on the net hammock and generally being in the middle of nowhere. Cindy was very friendly and prepared excellent food.

I liked it all

The room I had was very pretty and bad everything I needed (shower, toilet, mosquito net, etc). It had an amazing view and in the evening I could lay on the net in front of it and watch the sunset. It was magical. The host was super friendly too, gave me lots of tips on what to do and even showed me a hiking path close by. He has two very cute dogs, and personal connections to a TukTuk driver which makes getting around in the desert super easy. He was super nice to chat to and is really intent on making sure I had a good stay. Breakfast was great too.

The location was pretty far from the red desert or Villavieja. This is a tradeoff because waking up in the nature was something special. You can take a tuktuk anywhere making the location not as big of a deal

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an amazing stay. The food was very delicious and we would definitely recommend this place. Watching the stars at night or waking up early and seeing the sunrise in one of the nets was a wonderful experience.

We loved our stay. It is an ideal place to experience the dessert, which is a unique experience! We loved our nights watching the sky and the stars. The people were very warm, we want to thank the owner for all the great care. The morning that we had to leave very early, the owner himself brought us to the airport. It was a very pleasant ride and we admire his story and beautiful vision to create this place. The staff was very helpful and it felt homy. The experience was something we will not forget- thank you team for such a great experience! Just a tip - perhaps adding signs at the cottages so that people mind their neighbours. The location is next level amazing, the little houses in the desert are just otherworldly, and the stars at night are magnificent. The food is one of the best I had in the whole of Colombia. I seriously could have lived here. The owner is super sweet and caring, it's like you're staying with your long-lost uncle. He helps with anything he can.

The silence and night sky views from the cool little horizontal nets are what this trip is all about, in my opinion. The lack of wifi was a bonus from our perspective. We arrived on a very big motorcycle, heavily loaded, and had problems with some soft sand. Alejandro, Cindy & company went out of their way to help us get around this little problem by shuttling the heavy side boxes for us, both in and out.

Location is a bit out of the way, slightly difficult to get to at night. It's worth organising this in advance with the hotel or getting into Villavieja during the day to then get a tuktuk.

Thoughtful biohotel approach and really amazing staff. Juan was super kind and cooked up some fantastic food. It is worth coming here for the experience, the proximity to the grey desert and the stars at night.

The hotel is run on solar power, which is a great initiative. This means no power points in the rooms (only lights), you can charge your devices in the restaurant area until 4.30pm, after which the energy is required to power the hotel. This can be a little inconvenient but not a show stopper.

This is an incredibly rustic hotel, with stunning views of the sky for any avid stargazers (assuming good visibility). The food was AMAZING, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room had a good mosquito net over the bed and beautiful views of the surrounding area from the huge window (which was a nice way to wake up!)

Be aware of the distance from attractions but this is managed easily enough with a tuktuk!

The secluded location is absolutely breathtaking, the huts are so carefully designed for comfort and being so close to nature while having all the usual comforts of (hot!) showers, clean sheets, comfy beds and mosquito nets was wonderful. The amenities in the social area are a little more basic but the food is outstanding and the board games provided made disconnecting even more fun.

the main area of improvement for me would be the common area. it isn’t very pleasant aesthetically and has a lot of opportunity to be turned into something amazing. the pool area also doesn’t have anywhere to relax and lounge which is a shame.

located in an isolated area, QJI is a great opportunity to rest, enjoy surroundings, and listen to the sounds of nature. I stayed in the PODS and was extremely pleased with it. The dome is clean and has everything you need for a minimalistic stay. the bed was comfortable and everything was good quality. the plateau outside to lie in and watch the stars was especially nice. I enjoyed my stay so much I stayed an additional two nights. the staff are amazingly kind which made my stay even more enjoyable. I loved being able to walk from QJI through the countryside to the grey desert (45 min) to see a little more of the area.

We had an amazing stay at Qji Glamping biohotel. The staff were so friendly and made such a difference to our stay. They helped organise transport to the deserts and back to Villavieja. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and all the meals were delicious. Our hut exceeded expectations! It was clean and fresh, the hammock neck was the best place to chill out, especially to watch the stars at night. If you are looking for a place to disconnect and truly visit Tatacoa desert, we couldn't recommend staying here more.
