Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The resort is on the huge property. Bungalows and rooms are spread out and you have lots of privacy. The sounds of the jungle are amazing. All trails were marked ( at night with lights) and paved. They were kept super clean because of Ricardo ( gardener) hard work. All people working there were super friendly and helpful. Super addition was Lila ( macaw) , peacock and couple of turtles. Food at the restaurant was very good, tasty and fresh. There was no need to dine somewhere else.

GermanyThe bathroom in our deluxe bungalow was a bit disappointing and anything but deluxe. There was a narrow, wobbly shower cabin. Dirt collected between the wall and the shower cabin. The sink was also not properly fixed and wobbled. We missed a shelf in the bathroom and something in the shower for the shampoo and shower gel. Overall, the bungalow is in need of renovation. For the price and under the name “deluxe” I would have expected something different. However, the view and atmosphere in the hotel were so beautiful that the negative things in the bungalow didn't bother us that much. Also to mention: There is actually a great hiking trail right on the property. Unfortunately it is not maintained and is overgrown. We still tried to get there, but had to give up because branches, bushes and fallen trees blocked our way and made it impossible for us to get through. A great pity.
Beautiful view from the terrace of our deluxe bungalow, in the middle of nature with sea view, very quiet, comfortable bed, mosquito nets on the windows, fridge and bathrobes in the room, the pool is not big but great, the food was good but lacked spices, great staff (special thanks to Juan, Camilo and the kitchen staff), from the nice restaurant you can watch hummingbirds and even monkeys. It's a great place to slow down and relax. A few small shops and restaurants are within walking distance, it's also nice to walk along the beach to Mendihuaca, and you can easily take the public bus to Tayrona National Park or Palomino. We stayed six nights and didn't want to leave.

SwitzerlandBe aware that there are mosquitos outside and bring repellent, but its normal here.
The very perfect place if you visit Tayrona and want to relax a couple of days. We were staying in the family room in the main building. Beds were very comfortable and with mosquito nets. In the morning you wake up by the sound of birds and monkeys! Restaurant on the terrace, a nice clean pool with some hammocks. The property is wide spread out, with beautiful vegetation and is well taken care of. The public beach (with some restaurants) is a 10 min walk away. From there you can walk along the beach, which is very beautiful, secluded, clean but wild for hours. Public bus stop ‚Los Cocos‘ is right in front of the entrance (5 minute ride to El Zaino). 24h reception, they organize very reliable transport or airport pickup for you. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a great stay, thank you all! And we loved the house parrot Lila who was always on one of the trees.

This place is wonderful, it is a hidden jewel in Santa Marta, Tayrona area. We reserved the deluxe bungalow #17 which has an amazing view of the ocean and you feel you are at the trees canopy. The units have AC that run super and a beautiful bed with mosquito net that takes you back to the early 1900 hundreds. You find hot and cold water for showers. Staff is amazing , Cristiano the Manager along with their wonderful staff including but not limited to Camilo, Juan, Bryan, cesar, Vanessa, josee, Ricardo, Jorge, Edison make sure that we were pampered. The pool area is awesome secluded with hammocks, the dining area is so romantic and all constructed using bamboo material very original. The bar and restaurant are part of the original house which I was told it is 200 years old with 2 foot thick walls. Food , snacks, cocktails, and beverages are fantastic, OMG natural fresh home made fruit juices !! The beach is five minutes walking and the way to the ocean is trough the hotel itself , with a beautiful trail full of flowers and fruit trees !!! Lila the macaw, it is beauty and she repeats numerous words in Spanish like Hola and whistles. This is nature at its best and with all the conforts. Come and stay here you will not have regrets. Ohh I almost forgot lila the Macaw she is a blast! Cheers YR & JP

DenmarkWe encountered some inflexibility when making orders with the food menu, fx. Ordering a portion of fruit outside the breakfast time frame. Other than that absolutely fantastic.
The location and its surroundings are stunning. Close walk to the beach and the perfect place for us as a family. Having monkeys and other local animals was the absolute highlight of the trip. We can’t be thankful enough with Katy, from Girona Travels the partner independent agency working with the hotel, who went many miles beyond to accommodate the needs of our big group. She is a jewel in this hotel and you will get fantastic experiences under her watch.

Simply perfect, I loved everything ! I stayed for 3 nights in one of the upper deluxe bungalows. I loved my room, the view from the balcony, the amazing bathroom and the jungley surroundings. The hotel is built on a huge property in the middle of the jungle, and there are so many tiny details everywhere that make you appreciate this little paradise. Friendly staff and the food and cocktails are great. Lovely pool too. I loved starting my day with their amazing and varied breakfast options, listening to the jungle sounds and watching the birds, so peaceful... The beach is a short 8 minutes walk through a colourful and private path, it's a nice and uncrowded local beach called los Cocos, you can also find some small shops, restaurants a vegan coffee place there. The wifi is a bit low from the rooms but was not a problem for me, a perfect occasion to unplug !

GermanyNothing, all perfect :) Just be aware that you are in the middle of the jungle, so it’s normal to have animals and insects around.
We had a room with a sea view and huge balcony, from where we could also see monkeys. Despite being in the middle of the jungle the hotel had everything we needed, clean amenities, stable wifi, a pool with a bar where we enjoyed amazing piña coladas and a good restaurant with attentive waiters. The hotel personal in general was super nice, especially Cristiano who was always available for a chat or when we needed and Cesar from the reception who gave us great tips for visiting Tayrona National Park. To visit the park you can either catch the bus or ask the reception to organise a transfer to El Zaino.

United StatesThere was literally nothing we didn't like.
Villa Maria as a location and property, plus the staff who worked there, all exceeded our expectations! It was tranquil and beautifully nestled in a jungle-forest type setting. Food and service for breakfast, lunch and dinner all excellent. Food selection and quality perfect too. We were so content and happy there and wish we'd have been able to spend more than four days. Only a 15 min walk max to the beach. It was a safe and easy walk to the beach and a lovely walk along the beach. The pool on property was also very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed a day hiking in Tayrona National Park. The main entrance is only 20 mins drive from Villa Maria. In the other direction, we drove to a waterfall, also only 20 mins and a 40 min walk to the waterfall. Both trips and the to and from airport run we used Girona Travel, who have safe and clean vehicles and provide cost-efficient transportation.

United KingdomThe breakfast was honestly just awful. The food is quite tasteless and the restaurant staff very slow. They kept forgetting my order and I had to ask for coffee three times. And I was sitting right in front of the coffee machine! Please, do something about it because give the price point of this hotel, it is not quite acceptable. Also, the rooms would need a little upgrade. Right now the whole hotel gives a bit of a 90s/early 2000s vibes. And the colourful lights throughout the premises and in the swimming pool are just not right for a hire of this calibre.
Amazing setting right in the jungle but with a great view of the seaside and a very nice walk (about 10 minutes) to the beach. The tropical garden is very well looked after. All the bedrooms have an amazing view.

United KingdomThe only thing which let down the quality of the cabin was the poor shower. It was a very small sliding door cubicle with nowhere to put anything. The water ran really cold then boiling hot throughout the shower without touching the controls. The public beach seemed a bit run down and had a major development being constructed right on it. Looked like a big hotel being built.
This hotel has a fabulous location set in the forest and well back from the busy main road . It is set on a steep hillside with individual or two story cabins scattered within the very extensive grounds. Our individual cabin was set on stilts at a high point overlooking the forest and the sea in the distance. It had a very large private balcony with comfortable furniture. The room was spacious with a large bed and plenty of room for belongings. It had a safe, kettle , cafetiere, complimentary ground coffee and water. It also had it's own WiFi router. The cabin was exceptionally quiet and peaceful. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Some cabins are situated quite a way from the restaurant but the setting makes the walk worthwhile. There is a path leading through the forest and under the main road to a public beach. The beach is ok. Several basic restaurants are there open daytime hours only. The breakfast was good with a variety of things cooked to order. The staff were very helpful especially when they carried our luggage up the steep long paths to the cabin! Staff were welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend Villa Maria to anyone visiting this area.

Beach view was beautiful from our bungalow. Staff was very friendly. Grounds were very nice, very jungaley. The staff was helpful in guiding us on what to do/ booking a driver, etc. The food was pretty good and the staff at the restaurant were very nice and attentive.
