How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Please is nice and secure, near to major attractions and downtown.
It was simple breakfast, but good enough and sufficient. Was not expecting or needed a big breakfast anyways

The shower flooded the bathroom floor. Neighborhood didn't feel safe at night. No laundry service nearby.
The room was well furnished, with a desk and chair, separate comfortable chair, refrigerator, wall lights above the bed, etc.

Beautiful large suite with King size bed and great view of surrounding area. Restaurants near by. Staff arranged free parking in secured nearby area for my car. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. Breakfast included and made to order at on-site café with very pleasant hostess. Highly recommend this hotel.

The bathrooms were odd. Water splashed everywhere from the shower. I also didn’t like that you couldn’t leave the building without being buzzed out
The rooms were nice and the complimentary breakfast was a great addition

It’s easy to hear the sound out of the room, traffic noise from the road and people talking and the noise of suitcase from the hall.
The room is big. The showering water is comfortably strong and hot.

Wall of windows on balcony could have privacy film facing the lobby. Shower head needs to be cleaned or replaced(water came out & over the top), shower doors need to be fixed so that they open easily. Towel racks/hooks in bathroom. Shelving for inside shower & bathroom for toiletries. Ice.
Breakfast was wonderful! Great spot to people watch, allowing us to get the pulse of San Jose.

This hotel was lovely and clean with good spacious rooms and nice facilities. The Wi-Fi was good and the rooftop bar is a lovely bonus.

Bathroom wasn't great, shower head blocked with limescale so was spraying everywhere . Also barely attached to the ceiling. Some hooks to hang clothes/towels in the room wouldn't have been useful. We have to check out early and were offered a breakfast snack to take with us, which turned out to be one apple, one little juice box and a small pack of crackers ( for 2 ppl!!), which we weren't very happy with as breakfast was paid for in our reservation.
Nice staff, room is basic but nice enough and clean.

Staff was super friendly. Stayed there twice, first when arriving to San Jose and second time almost 2 months later. They really made us feel like they remembered us and were super helpful and welcoming all the time. Location is really good too.

Some more fresh fruit options for breakfast would have been nice.
We stayed here overnight to be closer to the airport and it was a comfortable, safe space to do so. The bed was very comfortable, the room itself pretty small, but expectations weren't very high considering the price and we were just there to sleep anyway.

Bathroom is a bit small and awkward. But like I said before, you get what you pay for. The price is right for the location. I've stayed here before and I'll stay here again.
We've stayed here before. We don't like to stay for very long in San Jose, we prefer to explore all of the natural beauty Costa Rica has to offer. So when we arrive to Costa Rica, this spot is a great one to crash at for a night. Rooms are nothing fancy but they're clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included and filling. The hotel is literally a 5 minute walk from Alamo/National Rent a Car.

I didn't receive daily cleaning in my room. I'm sure I requested, I would have gotten it.
The room I had "junior suite" was perfect - included kitchen with island for sitting (work), and unit had balcony. Staff at front door were very kind; "Isa" was so great and helpful, always smiling and willing to assist with anything. She made my stay very welcoming!
