I wonder if they could lower the prices to bring more people in.

We stayed in the first half of April, but it felt very low season. While there were a few other guests on this huge property, we pretty much had the restaurant, pool, hot tub, and trails to ourselves. Very cool experience. However, it felt a bit lonely, and the trails are not as well maintained as in the Arenal Observatory Lodge.

Nightstands would’ve been very helpful with lamps instead of the glaring overhead LEDs creating an artificial light. The whole resort must’ve been magnificent at one time, but badly needs an infusion of cash to be updated to its former blender.

There was a good selection of breakfasts which were tasty. the location was great, far enough out of town, to be peaceful, but enough to all the main attractions to be convenient

The food was standard fair and as vegetarians they accommodated us well, but nothing special. We planned our days out so that we left and came back once since it is a bit of a trek into La Fortuna.

Hotel Arenal Lodge is a gem. After climbing up a very steep drive to the property, you are in a secluded oasis with beauty, wildlife, gardens and an amazing staff. Freddie and his family were wonderful hosts.

The entrance up to the hotel was very windy and steep, but don't let that deter you from going! Beautiful when you get to the top!!

The building work beside our lodge was a little irritating, it started early and went on until fairly late. The air conditioning stopped working in the room, however we were provided with a fan.

The location was fabulous, so much to see and many trails within the grounds. The frogs at night in the restaurant gardens were lovely to listen to The staff were exceptional, always smiling and happy to help. We met the owner, who was very obliging and spent time talking to us. Breakfast was delicious.

We heard a lot the sound of the wind inside our apartment as the windows can't close properly. This needs improvement so comfort can be guaranteed.

The settlement were this lodge is located is simply marvellous. We rented the top floor or a chalet and had beautiful views of the Arenal Volcano (you will enjoy this whenever the day is clear, which does not happen every day). The pool and the jacuzzis are a dream. Dinner at the restaurant is good. Breakfast is acceptable.

The rooms were a little too dark and there was a bit of a musty smell but generally they were clean, spacious and comfortable. The main downside was the location. Of course by having the “jungle experience” you have to be out of the town, but I feel the hotel should do more to accommodate getting into town to try different restaurantes as taxis are very expensive e.g their own paid shuttle service, e-bikes / scooters to go up and down the hotel track to the road.

The feeling of being in the jungle, the facilities e.g pool / jacuzzi / pool table. The staff were exceptional, especially Rosio.

Dim lighting in the rooms at night (couldn’t read a book), not enough towel hooks or places to hang wet/used towels (even for the shower, let alone swimsuits), and while breakfast was phenomenal, dinner was just so-so.

Cannot beat the views. AMAZING. We lucked out with dry days and stunning views and local activities. The room was clean and the staff was very kind/friendly/helpful.

The packed breakfast was lousy. The breakfast offered on traditional terms was very ordinary and staff somewhat hurried. It would have been nice with a balcony in the open at the lodging, too.

The bumpy brick road but the local drivers seemed to handle it. Some tours will not puck up from there. A hotel shuttle to the main gate would be a plus.

    Breakfast could be better.

The lodge is nestled in the forest, just a stone's throw away from Mistico Park. From the main road, it's approximately a 2km drive along a charming private road to reach the lodge. The view of the Arenal volcano is breathtaking, and the area is teeming with a variety of birds such as toucans, parrots, and more. If you're a nature enthusiast, this is the ideal place for you.

The chalets we stayed at are outdated and worn. The mattress was uncomfortable and there were no utensils or dishes to use. The road getting up to the lodge was very curvey dark and steep. The location is about 20 min away from all the activities and la Fortuna

The food was good for a couple of days (not mind blowing, but good and exactly what we needed after a busy few days).

This is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for some escapism. We had a lovely big and clean room, with a great shower and double sinks in the bathroom. The balcony looking out to the volcano was a real treat. The real highlight here is the amount of wildlife you can see just by spending 10 minutes looking out the window at breakfast or on the balcony. We saw so many varieties of birds, insects and frogs without looking very hard. If you want to see the birds with a magnificent view of the volcano, this is the hotel for you. The rooms are also big and comfortable, with plenty of room to unpack/repack bags, and relax if the weather isn't the best. They are old timey in a traditional lodge set up but don't be put off, they are incredibly comfortable and clean. The balcony is particularly nice to sit and just take in the scenery. The staff in the restaurant and bar were also super friendly. Please don't be put off by the drive to the top - it's 10 mins max and absolutely worth it for the views!

The cabins need some TLC. Very old and dated. Low lighting in the rooms! Porch door could not open all the way due to it getting stuck on the floor. Coffee pot available in room But no filters were left! Can hear everything by your neighbour! Walls are paper thin! Tv didn’t work. But despite this it was still a beautiful spot to visit!

Beautiful grounds. Well maintained! Very clean. Pool was clean and the jacuzzis. Lots of animals good for bird watching! The restaurant was wonderful. The food was delicious. Food is reasonably priced! Serving staff were fantastic. Very friendly. Whatever you want. Just ask! They even let us use umbrellas for our tour when it was raining! The view from our junior suite was beautiful.
