Very friendly and welcoming hostel. Daily tours are organised for a good price with transportation. The location is great for walking around La Fortuna, and El Salto rope swing.

I made the mistake of booking breakfast at this hostel and deeply regretted it both mornings of my stay. I was given a choice of breakfast (American or tico) when I checked in, but was given an American breakfast the first day (fine, just not what I asked for). Then, the second morning, I was told that breakfast would be a tico breakfast and that guests aren't able to choose the type of breakfast. The second morning's tico breakfast was honestly pretty pathetic, see photo. It included some dry bits of scrambled eggs with some rice and beans - that's it. No coffee or tea, no bread or tortillas, nothing. For $7, it was bordering on shameful. You're only a short walk from a ton of restaurants, just fend for yourself. Also, the volunteers make commission for booking tours, which means that you're constantly being sold to anytime you're in common areas. It wasn't a deal breaker, but lightly annoyed me.

This hostel was really pleasant overall, with comfortable beds and a great shower (at least in my four person room). I appreciated the large kitchen and nice outdoor seating, and the volunteers were friendly and welcoming. The location is great for walking around La Fortuna, and there's tons of street parking outside. Good to know: they only accepted cash for my stay and preferred USD.

The vibe of the hostel is amazing! It’s this cute blue hostel that has a BEAUTIFUL terrace (with a bar) that lights up at night. I spent my mornings eating breakfast and doing yoga (with the mats they provide) on the terrace. There’s so much space, lot’s of chairs to hang around with other guests, AND an amazing view. They have curtains on the beds!! This is so rare to find in hostels ESPECIALLY at this price. They have lockers IN the room. I love how EACH bed has its own personal fan and outlet. The curtains go all around the bed so it provides a LOT of privacy which is SO nice when staying in a dorm. The bathrooms are really nice and were always clean! Each room has its own bathroom + shower AND they have an extra bathroom with a shower that anyone can use (this was really great when someone was using the shower in the dorm). The kitchen is great; they have everything you need- even a blender! They also provide you with oil, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper, which I found really convenient and a nice touch. The wifi is great- there’s lots of areas to sit and work. They also have a common area where you can watch Netflix on the tv! The owners and staff are amazing. There are tons of tours to do and they organize it for you. It was a great way to see La Fortuna and meet other travelers, so I highly recommend going on the tours- the hot springs, Rio Celeste, Chocolate Tour, and Night Walk were my favourites. I would HIGHLY recommend this hostel to anyone staying in La Fortuna! The price is incredible for the quality of the hostel. I will definitely visit again :)

The room did not have A/C and despite La Fortuna being not too hot, the room was very hot all the time and the fans in the room only help a little. Additionally, I felt the hostel staff was too pushy with their tours. They did not seem to just inform you about possible tours but also to try to push you to buy the tours all the time, which I didn't like at all.

The hostel itself is a nice place that allows you to hang out and relax. The staff is very nice and I liked the location a lot. Short walk (<5 minutes) to the supermarket and town centre.

The suite kitchen (separate from hostel shared kitchen) was lacking in basic gear needed to cook a meal. Door could use a handle.

It could benefit from some comfortable seating outside, eg bean bags, more hammocks, sofas etc. wasn’t a great place to relax in between activities (just up right chairs)

It got really hot in the room, and the tiny individual fans weren't sufficient. Also people smoking next to the window of the dorm, which is why the window couldn't stay open during the night.

The cleansest hostel I've stayed in in Costa Rica. Helpful staff. Lots of activities. Good location, just a few minutes walk from town and the nearest supermarket.

Only downfall was the sockets weren't great, took so long to charge my phone from them.

Amazing place. Really modern. The staff made me feel more at home than I have at any hostel I've stayed at. Bathrooms were lovely and so clean. Beds comfortable, loved the curtain around the bed for privacy. Good location, less than 10 mins walk to the town/bus station.

This place has such a chilled vibe, it’s easy to lose a few hours just sat on the terrace relaxing. The people and staff were all friendly and helpful and the location is great, on a quiet street only a couple of minutes walk to town. It feels like they have got it just right here!

Sofa bed provided in the studio room was one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept on, the place would’ve got a perfect score if this wasn’t the case as everything else was great.

Nowhere to lock up personal items. No lock for the dorm doors. No A/C and it was incredibly uncomfortable to sleep.

Great staff. Lovely rooftop deck and lower deck with chairs and hammocks to relax. We never felt unsafe. The location was good, just a few minute walk from all the action, it was nice to be in a little quieter spot to sleep. Lots of Hostel-run excursions for reasonable prices. Good value.

THE BEST STAY IN LA FORTUNA. The owners of this hostel are BEYOND helpful. When you arrive they explain all attractions in the area, along with fair prices and group activities are organized daily. Rooms are great ( we stayed in the private studio and a private room on the ground floor) , good kitchen. Location is just out of the centre, supermarket is across the street and the free Tarzan rope river swing in 10min walking down the road. Highly recommend staying here!!
