Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LuxembourgWiFi is good but not always operational. We booked this Hotel because it is "Adult Only" , but there were family with (very loud) children at lunch and diner. I think people from outside which were accepted in hotel complex . When reserving Adult only , I expect "adult only". We left twice diner / lunch because of noise of running children around our table ! Also , the hotel beach beds were squatted by external families with children. So, we did not go to the beach area of our own hotel :-(
High quality hotel , best service, professional and very friendly staff, reception staff was extremely helpful , rooms are high quality, beds and pillows are very comfortable and hotel has direct access the beach. The garden is very beautiful and well maintained, cocktails and food are delicious. Private parking;)

United StatesYou are not close to other restaurants. However, you can walk 20 minutes down the beach and have other options. With that said, the restaurant at the hotel was pretty good. I ate there one night and went into town the second night. If I had to do it again, I would just eat at the hotel both nights since the prices were good and the flavors on point
The semi-private beach was amazing. The hotel had the beach lounging dialed in with seating on the beach, and a deck about 30 feet off the beach. They serve coffee near the beach (starting around 5am) in the morning and drinks at night. Breakfast was pretty good with decent portions. The resort had a super nice market attached. The room I had was quirky but cool. It was a great value for money.

United StatesLovely grounds with beautiful landscaping and sunlight coming through the canopy. Awesome little spot on the beach that feels very natural and secluded, with food and drink delivery to your chairs. Loved the private villa with plunge pool (although waterfall wasn't working, unfortunately). Food quite good, although restaurant and bar close at 9 pm. Location is pretty far from town; I would recommend renting a scooter to come and go more easily; we had trouble getting a taxi.

United KingdomThe service at the hotel wasn't great, it seems like they're quite understaffed. If you're having a meal or ordering a drink from the bar then you're going to wait a little while for either (~30 mins for 2 drinks), so be prepared for the wait. Our room also hadn't been cleaned thoroughly - there was forgotten food on the floor and the previous occupants clothes in the wardrobe.
The hotel itself is beautiful - stunning gardens and plants, and the beach area is great with sun loungers and chairs to relax on. Our room was also very comfy, with a huge balcony that had a hammock, table + benches, and 2 chairs. Loved being able to spend time at the room and not have to be inside.

United StatesSunday evening menu was VERY limited. Since it was our last meal at the hotel it was a bit of a disappointment. A hot tub and more spa options would have been wonderful. There were a number of well behaved children at meals and at the beach which surprised us. The private pool with our room was somewhat of a joke and the chaise cushions needed replacement.
Breakfast, beach service. room. We did not use the seemingly well stocked kitchen during our stay. The tour desk and market service was very helpful and appreciated!

CanadaThe bathroom in our room stank like sewers and they had plugged in an air refreshener in there to mask the smell, which didn’t work. The drainage in the shower was not working and the gross water would start to pool as soon as the shower was on. Strangely, the wall separating the shower and the vanity counter was only about a meter up. So everytime you shower, the entire counter would get wet. This prevented us from having much of out toiletries on the counter top. All small stuff in the grand schme of things.
Banana Azul is a true paradise on the caribbean side of Costa Rica. Where it actually matters, this hotel is doing it right. The AC in rooms is perfect, AND there is a ceiling fan too. The wifi coverage was perfect even out on the beach! The staff were simply amazing. And saving the best for last: THE BEACH!!! It was truly spectacular and the water was so so warm and calm.

United Statesloved the hotel! being beachfront is rare for hotels in the area. It was nice to have beach side food and beverage service. The ocean was super calm and enjoyable to swim and float in. The hotel also had really good free breakfast options as well as paid lunch and dinner food and drinks. would highly recommend.
