How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great gardens that made the units seem secluded. I love the outdoor shower. Huge communal kitchen, each unit gets its own shelf in a fridge (a very nice touch). Surfboards are available for rent onsite, and it's only a short walk to the beach.

The chicken was crazy outside at 4 am but that’s normal everywhere in Rual places ! It’s lovely

The shared kitchen can be a bit crowded at certain times of the day and I feel uncomfortable being in there when others are there, but that's just me.
I liked that this room's entrance was a bit more private. The room had air conditioning, which was a plus at night. I really like that the shared kitchen has fridges with designated shelves for the various rooms so you know which shelf is only yours.

While this accomodation perfectly fit what we were looking for, there was not a lot of privacy, and we could hear noise in the kitchen/other rooms from our room, however there is a quiet time which helps with this.
We really enjoyed the fact that Cabinas Carol was only a short walk away from the bus stop, and from the main supermarket, only taking us ~5 min to walk. The staff/other guests were all super friendly, and there was plenty of space in the kitchen to cook and store food. It was also super close to the beach which was convenient.

welcome to the real jungle baby !!! bring a few little extra window screen material as your surf board padding, a roll of duct tape and you should be set to keep 95% of the insects out. my trick : i just nuke my room 2-hours before bedtime with the bug spray. no complaints though , just practical advice to my fellow #WaterTravelers . pura vida !!
miguel and carlos, and the rest of the crew are the best and can help you out with whatever you need. you know i will be back !! 3 small stores within waking distance 5-7 min. Saturday fish markets. take a 1.5 hour trip to the border at Paso canoas to get cheaper goods, and cheap futbol jerseys, and other duty free stuff. board rentals available and there is another shop down the road . 2 small food places 1 minute away, and smaller convenience store 1 min away walking. il let you enjoy the rest for your own discovery. cheers !

FULL of bugs, no bug proofing at all in the room. You will get eaten alive at this property. Birds and bats fly in and out dropping twigs etc on the bed. Under my pillow when we arrived was something that resembled used chewing Tobacco. Shower didn’t really pump much water out. Iguanas coming in and out the room too. Was a family room and there was spare mattresses shoved in the corner. Pretty much no staff on site or you have to guess who works there. Was a really big shame because it could be something great. Internet was the worst we’ve had too.
Great location and lovely balcony with hammock.

Not a big deal stuff, but: sometimes the toilet and other common areas got some smell similar to cat or other animal's urine. Other things I though are not under Hostel's control would be: Some guest smoke and were needed to remind not to do it...To future guests, please remember that in Costa Rica it is prohibited to smoke in any commercial establishment. An old pair of sandals disappeared from my door when I was sleeping.
Compared to other places around the area I find this place good in terms of price, the room and other areas were clean, the location is very close to the beach, restaurants and mini market, but not so noisy. You have place for cooking, cold and dry storage,
