The soundproofing of the room isn't great. Can hear conversations outside the room / traffic (=loud motorbikes) very easily. We also didn't really appreciate efforts to sell us about eight different tours within the first 5 minutes of us arriving. Maybe the intention was to be helpful but it came across as trying to make as much money off of our visit as possible

Nice view over the valley - good place to see the clouds coming in/out. Fair quality/price ratio. Owner helped us with a slightly unusual request with one of the activities which was appreciated

The hotel is on a main road, and there were loud motorcycles outside our window at all hours of the night. We turned on the fan the 2nd night and that drowned out the noise.

The room was nice and clean. The service was excellent. And the breakfast was delicious. It was easy to prepare our won evening meal in the kitchen. The staff were very friendly, letting us stay in the eating area later in the evening to play a board game.

The parking lot was a little difficult to drive and it was very bumpy and unpaved. I loved my view, but it wasn't possible to leave the window open at night because there was no screen. Bugs would fly in if the window was open. The exterior of the building when I arrived was deceiving because it looked run-down, but it was nicer inside. I really didn't like the system of the key to get into reception. The gate is locked and it seems like you need to know a code to get in. Initially, you just have to stand there and wait for someone to open the gate to check-in. If you're not going to have a doorbell, than write instructions in Spanish and English what you need to do. It's extremely unwelcoming.

The property has a great view and it offers a really nice breakfast. It is well located. The guy at the reception was really helpful in providing us all the information needed and suggesting what to visit and some local restaurants. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name but he is half Italian 🇮🇹

Hotel was easy to find and facilities were great. It has a beautiful view of the whole town and the Golfo as well. There is a super cozy terrace like zone with lights. Ro gave us the best check-in, he was super nice and explain us about all the activities to do in Monterverde and recommended the best ones. The breakfast was delicious as well. Jorge was very helpful in our check out. Definitely one of the best experiences in our trip to Monteverde. Thanks guys!!!

We loved our stay here in Monteverde. The staff is very friendly, made us feel at home and helped us with booking all the fun activities in the area. Great restaurants, coffee places and restaurants nearby. Our room was very spacious and clean and we enjoyed the views of the mountains.

We liked everything!

We loved the terrace and the view! It was quite windy, but it was still amazing to have some drinks and breakfast there. Breakfast is great! Rooms are basic but clean and we were perfectly comfortable. We had a shared bathroom and it was not too crowded at all. There are plenty of places to hang out even when it's too cold in the terrace. Basic kitchen is also available. Location is good too, Santa Elena center is just a very short walk away. The best part is the staff. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful, they helped us book all our activities and transport and gave us all the information we needed. We felt very well taken care of. I would definitely stay here again.

We missed having air-con in the room like we'd had in other hotels, and the roads either side of the hostel were quite noisy, but we thought overall given the price we payed the hostel was still good value.

The room was super spacious and had a large comfy bed and well-equipped kitchenette. The communal spaces in the hostel were really nice to spend some down time in, and the best thing of all was how helpful Diego and his colleagues were. As soon as we arrived they introduced us to the area and all the local activities we could book, once we made our choices they sorted all the bookings for us (e.g. to the Monteverde Cloud Forest and El Tigre Waterfalls), which included transport pick-up right from outside the hostel. This made our stay super easy to organise and we felt very well looked after. The laundry service was also great, very quick!

All the staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that guests are relaxed. Staff were patient and encouraging when attempts were made to communicate in Spanish. Breakfasts were well prepared and presented well, a real pride in the food being prepared.

-- I sent emails to the hostel several days in advance requesting Monteverde tour options. The initial ones were returned, but when we tried to book it got no reply. Finally after we had already spent a day at the hostel and gone on the tour that Ro booked, I got a short email telling me to book it myself on arrival. Very stressful and not very friendly. -- Breakfast doesn't open until 7 which isn't enough time to eat (fast), drive to the parking lot, take the shuttle to the entrance and pay for tickets. Our guide had already started and although we finally found him, it was unnecessarily stressful. It wouldn't have cost them anything to open the dining area at 6:30 and let us self-serve coffee and cereal. -- Small kitchen open during the day, but you can't eat inside when it's very windy. No way to heat water in the evening after kitchen closes. If you're driving from San Jose, note that Waze is good until you get close to Monteverde but doesn't list Cabinas Vista al Golfo as a destination. Google was needed to find the hostel.

-- Ro at reception was great, straightened out a booking problem, made a reservation for a Monteverde tour for the next day with a terrific guide. -- Very comfortable beds, clean hostel. -- Nice outdoor patio with great views (but very windy when we were there). -- Very good breakfast, you pick a time slot and they serve a fixed breakfast. The first day it was pancakes, scrambled eggs and fresh fruit plate. Dry cereal and juices available. -- Small kitchen available.

It’s noisy during the night because of the car in the street. Bring ear plug.

The free breakfast was amazing, different everyday with a lot of fruit, wow. The staff was really helpfull for booking navette and everything and they tell us all about what to do on the area. Just down the street, there a beautiful view of the sunset when its Sunny. I recommend to anybody.
