Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOur bungalow took a while to cool down. We were there during an unusually hot and humid set of days, and the AC was critical for us. Also, we had snacks in our room that ants quickly found.
The location of Camp Verde is wonderful; close to the busy town of La Fortuna, but quiet with a magnificent view of the volcano. They have a fantastic nature trail on the property. Be prepared for some steep steps, but bring your binoculars for better views of the amazing birds - Great Curassow, Rufous Motmot, Yellow-Throated Toucan. It was nice to have breakfast offered, but it is very basic.

United StatesI kind of wish they had a pool to cool off on hot days, but otherwise I have absolutely no complaints.
Check-in was super easy and it was nice having your own little private lodge. We also walked the trail on the property and it was beautiful and private. They cleaned our room daily and the AC worked very well to keep us cool on some 90+ °F in days. Breakfast was also lovely and had a great view of arenal. It was a very peaceful place to stay in good proximity to Mistico hanging bridges and downtown fortuna.

United StatesIt would be nice if the room had mosquito nets to keep out any bugs that may fly into the room. Also the mattress was a bit stiffer than we ideally wanted for a relaxing sleep.
The view on the volcano was fantastic. The room was spacious and the location was very convenient, easy access to both the town and the trailheads of the volcano.

United KingdomJust a minor thing, there’s a creature somewhere around the property (we think it’s a kind of cricket) that makes unpleasant sound. It only happens at certain times, mostly in the evening, they make the sound for some time, but then they suddenly stop. It’s not really a hotel fault but that was the only one little thing that we didn’t like.
This is one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at. It was super comfortable and clean. The amazing volcano view, the plants around and abundance of birds make it really exceptional location. We felt very relaxed there. The stuff was very friendly and the breakfast was nice.

United StatesRyan at the front desk was incredibly helpful, booking numerous activities and answering lots of questions we had. I don’t know the other gentleman’s name at the front desk but he packed a breakfast for us since we were leaving very early in the morning to catch our flight home. All the staff were incredibly friendly! The view from our room and location were perfection!

United StatesThe room lock is a physical key and the door is by default set to lock so it is easy to get locked out of the room. Hopefully the can do something about that.
I made the booking last minute due to flight complications and was pleasantly surprised how awesome the place was and wonderful staff starting with the excellent hospitality and professionalism we got from Brayan Arroyo at the front office to how clean and unique our room was. Then there is the view straight out of our windows and porch: it was a clear and direct view of the Arenal Volcano Mountain. It was fantastic. Highly recommend and will definitely stay at Hotel Campo Verde.

United StatesWe wish our AC on the second day did not break down.
We enjoyed the large and clean room with a view of Arenal Volcano surrounded with beautiful plants and flowers. The location is outside of downtown La Fortuna's busy streets but it is closer to hot springs and National Park of Arenal Volcano. We enjoyed the close by restaurant. The breakfast was pretty good.

United StatesAside from the plumbing mishap, all was perfect. Great manager, spacious and immaculate rooms, good breakfast. My only suggestion would be to start the coffee a little earlier, so that it is ready when people roll in early when they have to eat early to get to a tour on time.
Stay was great. The manager, Ryan was over-the-top helpful. Arranged a pizza order for us one night and responded to a water-all-over-the-bathroom problem, immediately and thoroughly. The water problem was due to a faulty shower head, resulting in water gushing out of the shower, all over the vanity and floor. My prescription drugs were ruined, and I had to replace them when we got to Monteverde. When I got home, I contacted the owner of Hotel Campo Verde and he sent me money via PayPal for my drug replacement expense. Very classy operation! Highly recommended!!

Location, location, location. Rooms as advertised; comfortable, clean and quiet. Wonderful 4 Day Stay at Hotel Campo Verde Absolutely wonderful stay at Campo Verde. Cottages are as advertised and the views from your door step are spectacular. I was in cabin 2. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. Bed sleeps well and shower water pressure was quite strong, which is great pressure after a day of tours and adventures. Air conditioning worked fine. Area is very peaceful; especially at night and early mornings. Real sounds of nature to fall asleep and awaken too. Very minimal traffic noise for my location. There is a Steakhouse directly across the street. Music can be a bit loud during dinner hrs, esp. if your cottage is closer to hotel entrance. Ate there twice and the food is very good. Expect American prices as each dinner (200 gram steak) was about $30-$35 with one beer. Also a couple of restaurants and grocery/gift shop about a 2 / 5 minute walk from hotel. Very convenient. Only a couple slight negatives: 1) bathroom lighting could be brighter, 2) breakfast is just “OK.” Coffee, juice, rice/beans, potatoes, ham or sausage, pancakes and fruit. Just not much flavor. However, good enough protein to start the day’s activities. Otherwise, a great stay. Highly recommend if seeking great views of volcano in a quiet setting and comfortable rooms without all the commotion of a larger hotel/resort setting.
