This is a treasure. Located near bus terminal (Tracopa - one of the mayor bus lines in Costa Rica), on walking distance from mayor San Jose's museums: National museum, Pre-Columbian gold museum, and a Jade museum. The guesthouse is a nice old house with everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped. Everything is very clean. The owner, Senora Mayela, is a treasure as well, a warm-hearted person. She took the best care of me, and our conversations were delightful! If you need a cozy place to stay in downtown San Jose, look no further. This is it! Thank you, senora Mayela, for everything!

Nothing. It exceeded our expectations.

Extremely friendly hostess who will show you around the guest house. The room is perfect: very clean (the cleanest room we had during our 3-week tour of Costa Rica) and very spacious. Beautiful house with a very well equipped kitchen (which we did not use ourselves). Safe neighborhood (a bit out of the center, but the center itself felt rather unsafe after dark, so that's not a problem - close to China Town where you can eat good food). Center is walkable. No window in the room, but even that was not a problem because there is a window high above the entrance door that opens onto the (beautiful) courtyard. Price/quality is perfect.

I liked everything.

I felt like I was at home. Very nice accommodations with a really cool and calm ambiance. There is a cure courtyard in the center where birds come and pop in. The host Mayela is amazing too. She treats you like you are a part of her family!

This is run by the cutest little grandma I have ever met. She is very nice and will try to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The room is sizeable with a TV and Private Bathroom.

The cars noise from the street!

The owner was just lovely! Happy to accommodate you in any way possible. The place is relatively close to the city center (walking). It has a few restaurants, supermarkets, ATMs and Laundry close by also. Great internet. Big TV screen in the room with Netflix

The location although close to Chinatown is ok during the day but not sure I would feel happy walking on an evening.

The hostess was lovely. It was spotlessly clean with good kitchen facilities. It was a beautiful building.

The location downtown is not great. You really need to get a Uber if you want to eat out (very cheap about £1.50). The property is very quiet between 10pm and 5:00 pm. Bring your earplugs for other times.

The owner was super kind and attentive. The property is spacious and it’s a beautiful building. Bed very comfy and Netflix!! Bathroom spotless. Kitchen well equipped . A very comfortable stay. Excellent internet.

Everything. Spotlessly clean, the room smelled lovely, the bed was like a hotel bed, Netflix on the big TV felt like a treat, charming courtyard, spotless and very well equipped kitchen, very secure (very important), Mayela is the kindest, sweetest host. She recommended a great authentic Mexican just down the road. Cannot recommend this place enough, its a little haven in the otherwise sketchy San Jose landscape.

We loved our stay at Casa Mayela! The place is a beautiful building, the rooms and facilities are immaculately clean and Mayela is very helpful :) There is a really large and well equipped kitchen if you want to cook. The place is a 10min walk from the Tracopa bus station which made things easy with our big heavy backpacks.

Beautiful house with gorgeous tiled internal courtyard. It was far nicer than the photos shown in Booking.com and we can only offer the highest praise for the host. I was very I’ll in my departure day and although I speak no Spanish the host used Google translate and offered to get me medical assistance. A wonderful host offering safe comfortable accommodation in a house offering something different to bland hotel style rooms. We were welcomed to use the kitchen and felt very much at home. 5* experience book it! Approximately 10 minutes walk to central area or faster depending on individual.

The room has no proper window, but is still very well illuminated by a small window to the inner court yard and two floor windows in the bathroom.

The host Mayela is very nice and friendly, and was nice practicing my Spanish with her! The property is beautiful and very clean. It has a nice inner courtyard with two palm trees and a spacious, well equipped, and super clean kitchen area.

It was a bit noisy from the street traffic & from guests who arrived late in the next room.

The bed was amazingly comfortable & there was netflix to watch on the flat screen TV. The staff were also really nice. Location was good, close to the Tracopa bus station. It was also very clean.

I would like to learn Spanish fluently so that I can fully appreciate the hosts kindness and hospitality.

I liked the Victorian architecture, the safe entrance, my host was very knowledgeable and helpful about where to go in Costa Rica. I appreciate the clean room, fan, hot water, nice shower, and good smells.

The walls vibrate a bit if a big truck drives closeby, as it is an older building - not a huge deal.
