Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was extremely noisy outside into the early hours which did impact our ability to sleep given the thin windows.
The location was great. We enjoyed the breakfast in the restaurant and found the coffee to be decent. The bar of an evening was a nice place, though a little pricey for San Jose. The atmosphere was excellent and it was lovely to stay in a historic hotel.

United KingdomNoise from the street outside late at night with cars and people gathering until the small hours. Ask for a room at the back.
Lovely old building with lots of character, if slightly faded grandeur. Spotlessly clean. Friendly and helpful reception team. Huge and very comfortable bed with good bedding.and pillows. Good bathroom with his and hers basins. Fresh water in the room every day. Efficient aircon and fan kept us cool. Breakfast was slightly lacking in choice, but the Gallo Pinto (traditional rice and beans) was very tasty and the large plate of fresh fruit very welcome.. Attractive new restaurant and bar at the back of the hotel. Good location within easy reach of Central Avenue for the museums and National Theatre.

RomaniaThe bathroom is quite small and washing is uncomfortable.
It looks like a museum, it is very stylish. There are only two options for breakfast, they could improve this, but it is delicious anyway.

United KingdomThe noise at night. I’m pretty used to sleeping in noisy environments but the noise of the casino and street below was unbelievable. Don’t underestimate the reviews like I did. The room felt tired (but clean) and not really representative with what I thought I was buying.
Handy central location, staff were super friendly and even jumped in with English when I struggled to keep up with Spanish. I felt really welcomed at both check in and check out.

United KingdomWe stayed in Dunn Inn for just one night following a late arrival into San Jose and before travelling to La Fortuna at lunchtime the next day. It was just what we needed. It’s a clean and charming hotel with friendly and helpful staff, who assisted us in booking a private transfer to La Fortuna at late notice. In terms of location it’s around a 10 minute walk to the centre of San Jose; and we found navigating easy due to the grid system. To note, the walk does involve a fairly steep hill so may not be doable for all travellers.

United StatesThe loud traffic and scary noises from the Casino across the street. Glad there was a guard at the door of the hotel.
The staff were incredibly positive, beautiful and the best of people I have met at a hotel! Truly the tops!

United StatesThe interior has attractive brick-lined walls with numerous paintings. A surprisingly good breakfast included in the price in a well-lit, comfortable coffee shop. All located within the historical Barrio Amon of San Jose and only a couple hundred meters from the Simon Bolivar zoo, more an animal rescue site than a traditional zoo. The hotel’s taxi service made the trip to the airport much easier.

United StatesThe hotel is directly across the street from a 24 hour casino. The street was noisy and the neighborhood was unsafe after dark. No air conditioning in the hotel rooms, the windows didn't open and it did not seem safe to open our balcony door. The basement room had no windows and smelled strongly of mildew. The staff was very kind but not super informative about the area. It was not a problem for us, but there were stairs or at least one step to get to any part of the hotel.
Lovely and interesting hotel with a good restaurant attached and comfortable, clean rooms. It was convenient to have a gated parking lot to park our rental car. The shower was good and it was nice to have a fridge and a safe in the room.

United Arab EmiratesIf you have a street-facing room it's a bit noisy outside but you're in the middle of the city so it's to be expected!
Cute hotel in a heritage building just outside the central district of San Jose. Super friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms, great location. The cafe/breakfast area is beautiful and there is a fantastic restaurant attached to the hotel. Great option for a night or two in San Jose!

United KingdomNo lift, wasn’t that easy to move your bags around, basic facilities, no frills. Careful at night, one or two dodgy looking characters around.
Comfortable hotel, walking distance from the centre with a restaurant at the side. Close to the casino which is good for people watching. I left the safe open by mistake and nothing was touched. Thanks guys much appreciated. Breakfast fine.

The property is historic and authentic and is beautifully designed with stunning details like the hand-painted tiles on the floor. I noticed a group were taken into the hotel by a tour guide because the interior is so amazing. Walkable to all main San Jose attractions. Felt very safe too!

BelgiumThe included breakfast is basic: you have fruit and coffee that you can take alone and also included you can order eggs, bacon and bread if you want. If you want something additional like an espresso or a croissant you have to pay for it.
Staff is very gentle and polite. The bedroom is basic but clean and everything you need is there. It’s located in the nicest part of the city, with several cafe and restaurants around.
