Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I cannot fault this place. You have to stay here. It was exceptional. We saw loads of toucans eating breakfast whilst we were, went on the night walk and saw loads of animals. We went to see a sloth in the wild and the hosts provided great recommendations. They love what they do and it shows. I wish I could give more than 10/10 Thank you for an incredible stay 🙂

CanadaThe showers were lukewarm, but this was a minor inconvenience and something that we knew about the accommodation when we booked! The welcoming atmosphere, incredible food and opportunities to explore this gorgeous property made the stay 100% worth it!
Cecropia Ecolodge is a jungle paradise in Costa Rica! The hosts, Noe and Jay, are incredibly friendly and welcoming! My sister and I felt like part of their family. We arrived late in the evening due to travel issues and Noe immediately greeted us and cooked us a delicious homemade dinner. Noe cooked us homemade breakfast and dinner at the property every day and it was the best food we had in Costa Rica by far! We also did a night tour with Jay and he showed us so many interesting insects, frogs and animals, including a sleeping hummingbird. The property was also a great jumping off point for exploring the area around Arenal and La Fortuna. Noe and Jay clearly care so much about their little piece of jungle and we felt lucky to share it with them! I would recommend that everyone visiting Costa Rica should stay here!

BulgariaEverything was just perfect!!! The owners love what they’re doing and they’re doing it with so much passion and you just fall in love with the place!! The food they provide is amazingly tasty and healthy!! The property is beautiful and the owners propose tours to acknowledge their guests with the wild life. They are helping their guest with anything they can!! We arrived late so they waited for us, I eat only vegan goon, so they were preparing special meals for me! At our last day, when we said that we had not seen a sloth yet, they even proposed to take her to another property, where they’ve heard there was a sloth at the moment! Amazing people!! Thank you!! You made us feel at home!!

CanadaThis young couple is dedicated to restoring and protecting the rainforest. Their hard work has paid off. Their property is so beautiful! Walking trails meander through different eco systems. There is also a botanical garden and an observation deck to view the stunning scenery. The night walk is amazing!Jay has a sharp eye and we saw many differ creatures--red eyed tree frogs, glass frogs, tiny lizards and many different insects. Every morning at 6am, the birds are fed and both Nohelia and Jay are on hand to give interesting information about different species. We learned so much. The breakfasts are so delicious. Fresh fruit, fresh fruit juice, eggs, banana bread, toast, coffee, a variety of tea. Dinner is another tasty delight with homegrown organic ingredients. The cabins are set right in the jungle. Just sitting on our porch overlooking the lush verdant growth was a wonderful experience. The cabins themselves are very comfortable and have cooking facilities. Jay and Nohelia are such hospitable, gracious loving hosts. They make sure that everyone has a fantastic and educational time at their eco lodge. Thank you for a most incredible experience, our best in Costa Rica. We'll be back.

CanadaThe stay in Cecropia Ecolodge with Nohelia and Jay is one of the most memorable moments in CR! It’s amazing. It’s a huge place of garden and forest that Jay and Noelia built throughout the years, where you can hike and go on a tour to see animals. The lodge is very quiet, comfy, surrounded by beautiful plants and animals. The two hosts are chill, welcoming, helpful and passionate about what they do. Another wonderful thing is to experience life without Wi-Fi connection(available on in the dining common area), which allows me to immerse more in the nature. For solo travellers, this place can be reached by Uber or taxi.

CanadaCould not find anything.
This place is a beautiful gem. The property is beautifully located in the middle of a rainforest. It is very peaceful, clean and comfortable. We loved how peaceful it was but especially we liked the owners of the property. Both Nohelia and Jay are just fantastic. We immediately felt comfortable in this place. Both are caring and very accommodating towards the guests. We were impressed how compassionate and knowledgeable they’re about the nature and how much work they put into restoring and enhancing the property. They are constantly planting the trees and preserving the healthy ecosystem of the rainforest. Everything they do is with love and attention. Every guest is treated with smiles and they make everyone feel special. We got a fresh bag of Costa Rican coffee as a gift on arrival. How lovely. Nohelia is a supper cook. We had a great breakfast everyday as well as two diners cooked for us and all were super tasty and healthy. The bests meals we had in Costa Rica. We enjoyed the educational night tour with Jay and our daily talk with Nohelia about birds and nature. Watching the birds when eating incredible breakfast was our daily start for a day. We definitely recommend this place for all nature lovers. We hope to be back. Thank you.

We also received great recommendations for where to go to best see the Arenal volcano as well as get great food! You can tell the hosts are both so passionate about their place and the work they do, it was not just a place to stay on our trip, it was a wonderful experience that contributed to our overall time in Costa Rica and we look forward to coming back. United StatesThe road and driveway can be a challenge for economy cars. A four wheel SUV would be more adept at it.
From literally the moment we arrived to our departing hour, Jay and Nohelia made our two night stay a special one. We arrived at nightfall, and Jay let us know that we could join the night nature walk. They have made a spring fed pond; in and around it you will see frogs, toads, and more. The walk continues where you can see leaf cutter ants at work, cinnamon and other native plants. A wonderful breakfast is included, hand crafted to your dietary needs. They mount local fruit on a wooden frame near the outdoor dining room, so by the time breakfast begins, you will have a dozen birds entertaining you. We saw parrots and a toucan from afar as well. Dinner is great and inexpensive. On the morning of our departure, Nohelia had us select two trees from their greenhouse, which we named and planted. We hope to return when they are grown. There is Wi-Fi at the dining area (which you are welcome to use all day), but not at the cabins.

United StatesCecropia lodge was the perfect place for a vacation thanks to Nohelia and Jay’s warm hospitality!! The location is wonderful for birdwatching and it is easy to spend a lot of time just exploring their property. my sister and I stayed here and it was very safe. We participated in the night and day tours they offered and were lucky to see many animals, including tree frogs and kinkajou!!! it was really interesting to hear about their reforestation projects. Nohelia and Jay were really helpful in suggesting day trips in the Fortuna area, as well as non touristy hikes and hot springs that we absolutely loved. they knew an impressive amount about the animals in the area and the food was great as well (which was amazing after being out hiking all day). I was a bit hesitant to rent a car in Costa Rica because I live in nyc and don’t drive frequently, but we ended up getting one and found that driving around was no problem at all, and made it much easier to be spontaneous. we rented a compact SUV for an easier time with potholes and avoided the hectic traffic in San Jose (for anyone wondering, most of the airport car rentals take you directly onto the highway so you can easily skip that area). all in all Cecropia is a perfect location for nature lovers. I hope to return someday soon!!

IrelandWe liked everything...you need a car to get there, preferably a 4WD but we managed in a small rented car. If you like nature, bird watching and short hikes, you will be in heaven. Our only regret was that we only spent one night. The food is fresh, healthy and mainly grown in the garden. We did the night hike with Jay....we didn't see big exotic animals but the smaller specimens that usually go unnoticed but are so important in the ecosystem. Several species of ants and frogs, lizards and a sleeping hummingbird. We saw more species of birds here than in the national parks- even toucans. A fantastic stay.
