Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI would suggest to leave a map of the farm and where the walking paths are to explore or hike the whole farm as it is a big farm.
We really enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners, fantastic local food and good portion size, loved that we got all day very delicious juices provided too. It was a very nice touch that we got hot cocoa on arrival. The farm tour was super interesting and it was great to see all the facilities that are involved in the cocoa production.

CanadaIt was a long walk with luggage from the car park to the cabin but this was a minor inconvenience
I was impressed by the wood construction which gave it a rustic appeal but with all of the modern conveniences. The king bed was very comfortable and we loved the large deck where we observed many different birds.

Incredible! An absolute must stay, hidden away slightly off the tourist trail. We loved our cabin which felt like a piece of luxury. The spa area was lovely. We did the farm tour and chocolate making experience which is a must do. I'd recommend booking 2 nights if you can.

United StatesNeat opportunity to stay on a real cocoa farm. They gave free tours and we did the paid chocolate bar making workshop and our kids really enjoyed. The room was rustic/simple but very clean and comfortable. They made homemade breakfast in the morning for our family that was delicious and we even did the paid dinner one night, which was also good. Overall a very unique stay in Costa Rica!

CanadaI had booked a time frame ahead of time for the spa/wellness and when we arrived it wasn't honored and had been booked by another group. I had read this before...seems to be a common issue we were lucky there were spots still open since we arrived around 3pm.
Loved the cleanliness, the quiet, relaxed vibe. The food was amazing and authentic. The property is bursting with fruit trees and animals! We especially loved our time at the on site spa. Wish we stayed here longer! We made chocolate and glad this was our last stop before the airport so we didn't have to take chocolate with us our whole trip as you get quite a lot! The room was super clean but use the bug net! It'll help keep out the odd spider...you are in the middle of the jungle it feels like.

United KingdomThe bed and pills could have been a bit more comfortable. The dirt road to the lodge was quite challenging- a 4 WD is definitely required
Beautiful location. The lodge was basic, everything was very well laid out. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Staff very friendly and the cocoa tour was excellent.

We loved La Finca Amistad Cacao Lodge. Nicely located closed to Tenorio park. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful and the lunch, dinner and breakfast were delicious. This is the best part of our trip with the cacao tour, chocolate making and jacuzzi time! We highly recommend to stay at least 2 nights!!

LithuaniaWe liked all! I would actually have nothing against staying there for ever :)
It is indeed one of our best stay during a 3 weeks travel in Costa Rica. It has all - beautiful, very comfortably equiped houses, perfect restaurant, amazing cacao field surroundings, wonderful nature and birds, great people, very interesting tours and a relaxing little spa. On top of all this - it has a perfect location, close to Rio Celeste (Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio). Our huge thanks to all great team, who makes it happen!

United StatesWe loved our stay at Finca Amistad! The staff was wonderful. We enjoyed the included amenities of the cocoa farm tour and the spa jacuzzi area. The spa area was very quite and serene as you get the whole space to yourself for an entire hour. Super relaxing! Breakfast was great followed by the interactive and informative cocoa farm tour. Very close to Rio Celeste as well, so I suggest visiting that after checkout. Overall exceeded my expectations. Totally recommend staying here!

Czech RepublicThe food in the restaurant was good, but not great. We stayed 2 nights which was just enough, we would not know what to do there for more days.
The cacao tour was great, we even spot a sloth, but also learned a lot about cacao production. The kids made their own chocolate and really loved it. The place is beautiful, peaceful, full of life, many tucans and other birds. The rooms were comfortable. Rio Celeste is very near.

United StatesNo AC, but fan and open windows (with screens) kept air circulating and made sleep comfortable (bed was super comfy too). There are two roads into the finca -- one way has just a short unpaved path (but is further distance-wise from Rio Celeste/Bijagua). The other way is much bumpier, but shorter distance. Just be aware and pick your poison (all totally doable in dry season in our 4WD, though we didn't need to use the 4WD, just comfier).
Our favorite accommodation on our trip! Gorgeous setting on a cacao farm. Simple, but comfortable room. We loved hanging on the deck (complete with rocking chairs and a hammock) looking out at the toucans, hummingbirds and other wildlife. Staff was very friendly and we were able to communicate with my limited traveler's Spanish to order breakfast and make dinner reservations. The included farm tour was great, and showed off the walking paths throughout the property, where we spotted a sloth and crossed hanging bridges. We made chocolate bars (which were so delicious) and a great souvenir. Breakfasts were delicious, with fruit, empanadas, eggs and homemade bread, juice and coffee. Dinner was only one option per night, but delicious, fresh and filling. All served on the gorgeous covered patio by very friendly staff, with many drink options. The spa (one hour private access daily) was heavenly. Gorgeous all wood setting with warm and cool pools, private shower, yoga area and ability to connect speakers to set your own soundtrack. You could also order drinks there.

United KingdomWe went travelled there via a dirt tract road…possibly our fault as we were travelling directly from the Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio
Lovely Costa Rican breakfast. The dinner was pleasant but not quite so interesting. Staff were incredibly helpful despite the fact that a number of them didn’t speak English. The surrounding plantation and gardens were awash with wonderful bird life, such as humming birds and toucans. I wish we had stayed there for two nights instead on one.

AustriaThe way to the hotel was a bit bumpy (dirt road), but we were able to get there with a SUV.
When we arrived we got to choose between coffee or cacao as a welcoming drink and we also got some pieces of different chocolate to taste from, which was delicious :). The included cacao tour was very interesting and the staff was very kind. The room was comfortable, pretty and there was also a mosquito net around the bed. Overall it’s a quiet location, perfect to get away from everyday stress. We would have loved to stay longer than one night.
