Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyOccasional power surges and lack of hot water depending on time of day.
We stayed one night in the Bungalow room which was very cute, basic but comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly and included breakfast was decent, but a bit lacking- toast, pancakes and bananas only- would have liked to have seen some eggs at least.

United KingdomRoom and decor was a little old and tatty but fine. Shared showers had good pressure and hot and cold. Good location, close to many restaurants in a very safe area. Walking distance to city centre. Breakfast was good. Pancakes, fruit, granola, cereal. Coffee provided 24 hours a day.

GermanyUnfortunately our booked garden bungalow was given to other guests the night we arrived. We were given a standard double room in exchange which was supposed to be similar quality. Which was not the case at all. It was a bit run down and the walls were extremely thin, so that we woke up frequently. The first room had sheets with hair and stains on them, they were also wrinkled as if someone has already slept in them for a night. There was no one at the reception to ask for new ones. The host wanted to give us that standard double room for 2 nights for a discount of 10 USD (which is also the regular price difference between those two room). We had to insist on switching to the booked garden bungalow. The promised discount of 5 Dollar for the one night ended up being only 4 Dollar. So in total our experience is disappointing due to the first night. For this first night in the double room I would give 4 points and for the second night in the bungalow 9 points.
Great Finca with a beautiful garden. Delicious breakfast with pancakes, fresh fruit, granola, yoghurt and toast. The garden bungalow was clean and cozy. Safe Barrio with lots of restaurants and bars close by. You can easily walk into the city center. I would definitely recommend staying here.

MexicoThe bedsheets were dirty and all ripped off. There was a cockroach in the room and no hot water. For breakfast, the only vegan options were fruit and bread, not even PB milk. Overall, it wasn't the nicest experience, only worth it for the location.
The location is great, and the overall look of the hotel is very nice.

United KingdomThe bed could be a bit more comfortable. Some tiles on the floor were broken.
The Hostel is in a great area of San Jose with plenty of restaurants and young/student vibe. The room was cozy and facing a beautiful garden. Very good breakfast, we loved the pancakes! Staff was also very friendly.

IrelandNothing!
We arrived an hour after check in time (at 11pm) due to being delayed, but we were welcomed and there was no problem. We were even given a room each, when we had booked a shared dorm. It was such a treat after a long day of travelling and so appreciated! We were leaving again early the next morning, but we still had a chance to avail of the generous buffet breakfast and sit in the beautiful garden. Wish we could have stayed longer, such a nice traditional building in a cool neighbourhood. And great value for money. Recommended!

Germany-
Small oasis of peace (wonderful garden!) with great restaurants/bars around the corner. You can snack on pancakes left over from breakfast all day for free (coffee too) and the hotel is close to the university/artists' quarter, which we really liked (recommendation: Jardín de Lolita!). A supermarket with a large selection is right next door. We would definitely come back, we felt very comfortable.

It was in a very safe part of town, somewhat upscale. Very close to many good restaurants a Fresh Market grocery store, and easy access to bus stations. We walked there from Tracopa and later to the Tuasa station to the airport. The breakfast was healthy, ample and delicious.

GermanyThere were some small things that, for me, added up not being sure I would choose the Hostel again: - the showerhead was damaged so much, I can’t imagine why nobody would bother fixing it - the door to the room kept colliding with the floor at some point of uneven floor - there was nothing special about that intercontinental breakfast - bedsheets and towels were torn and with wholes and should be exchanged - the position of my room: right in between the hostels parkinglot (you had to close the curtains) and the dorms bathroom (you could hear the people use it) - worst thing: cockroaches in my room. I told the front desk, he took a look and never returned. I’m sorry, but for me this kind of bugs is a red flag.
- Nice building, and old villa with nice inside decorations - beautiful garden where you can enjoy breakfast - comfortable big bed - the room was really beautiful and spacious - in walking distance to a lot of nice restaurants - parking right inside the grounds possible
