Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPool seemed dirty. My partner's food was cold at the restaurant. Laundry was expensive but I think fairly standard for Costa Rica.
The family room is great, has a cool raised king size bed upstairs with a view of the trees. Big shower. Also stayed in a budget room with shared bathroom which was clean. Breakfast was basic but good it was included. Easy to use buses to get to Quepos/Manuel Antonio. Lots of chill out places with hammocks and chairs.

SlovakiaThe shared kitchen was crowded in the evenings, but nothing terrible, more kitchenware would be nice.
Nice hostel with great atmosphere, nice views & terrace. Really nice and helpful staff. The room was simple but clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, near the pool with views of colorful parrots, probably living in a nearby tree.

SloveniaIt is next to the main road, so the noise was very loud. Our room did not have any windows, just misquotes net and curtains, so we heard anyone talking in front of our room. If you want to have a good sleep, do not go here
They cleaned our room every day. The bathroom was clean all the time. Big dining place and friendly staff.

CanadaThe only challenge for me was there was no AC in the bedrooms, only ceiling fans and other people in the dorm were always turning them off...
The included breakfast was amazing, traditional Costa Rican food is my favorite! The pool is lovely for the hot days. It's easy and cheap to get around to Manuel Antonio or Quepos with the public bus which made everything in the area very accessible. Beautiful sunsets from the top floor balcony!

SpainUpper beds don’t have rails, my bed was not nearby a wall so I was pretty scared to fall during my sleep, plus the mattress was down on one side which made it more dangerous. Beds have no curtains which would be nice to have. Only 1 toilet/shower for 10 people was definitely not enough, and didn’t like that the fans didn’t reach every bed, so was super hot. They didn’t give us one key each because was only one key for booking, I find it ridiculous
It was nice and clean, rooms where comfy, the kitchen was good, and the breakfast was okay. The breakfast were nice! The terrace of the bedroom was nice too. Pool okay, could use some more sun beds and to be repainted

CanadaAs a solo traveler did not find it too social because the hostel doesn't organize activities. Only one bathroom to service the 8 bed dorm plus one private room within our section although there were 3 other washrooms available if you didn't mind walking past the kitchen area. Not the hostels fault but there was a theif living amongst us who stole my hat and insulated water bottle, so beware.
Staff catered to my needs. Shout out to Steven at reception and Margaret at the restrurant for their friendliness. Location is close to the bus stop so easy to get to the park or the town. Breakfeast, with 4 choices is included in the price. I stayed in an 8 person mixed dorm and it was large enough to stay out of everyones personal space. The balcony off the dorm and roof top loft added a jungle ambiance to the atmosphere. Also nice to have a swimming pool.

AustriaThere was only one bathroom for an 8 bed dorm + private room, which was definitely a little annoying because the bathroom was busy all the time. They have more washrooms close to the reception, tho, that can be used by everyone.
One of the best hostels I've stayed at here in Costa Rica. Super friendly and helpful staff, the breakfast was delightful, spacious dorman and great facilities. The pool and common area are definitely a huge plus!

NorwayA bit nosy from animalsounds in the night and a bit humid in the bunks cause of only using fans in the room. Expect from that the room was big with lockers and considerate persons.
We arrived pretty late but had a great time there. We got really good help from the staff from booking a trip to the national park, guestions about the area and what to do. The bedroom was big with a great terrace. The location is a bit of the center, but it was really nice there, and you live pretty close to nature. The prices were good, the breakfast tasted great and with a pool and many hang out spots we were really satisfied, staying there. When we came back from Manuel Antonio National Park, we got to take a shower and hang out there. Lovely experience.

Nice hostel, very well located. When I got there I thought I would need to rent a scooter or something, but it’s so easy to go to the beach and to Manuel Antonio with the bus service that I ended up just using that. So, cheaper but still amazingly easy!
