Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot much, maybe the room could have more lights, it was a bit dark. Nothing major
Really nice grounds, we saw many birds (toucans, tanagers, turkeys), ant tracks and other small animals. Lovely view of the volcano. Hot springs were clean and well maintained, they were turned on every day, when they were on the top pool was very hot, the middle one warm and the bottom one slightly cool. There were showers next to them and lights came on after dark. Theres also a pool which we enjoyed. There’s a restaurant on site, we liked everything we ordered, breakfast was very nice too, and service was very welcoming and friendly. Location is very good if you have a car, it’s 10 min drive to La Fortuna, close to volcano hikes and other attractions. You don’t need a 4x4, there’s tarmac everywhere. Yoga area is lovely to do some morning exercise. The bungalow was comfortable, it had mosquito nets over the windows and an aircon. We slept well. Overall it was a secluded and relaxing place with comfortable bungalows. We would love to come back!

United StatesTourists were very loud in the hot springs and at breakfast.
I booked the Economy Room and they upgraded my stay to the Premium Room due to my long stay – which was a private cabana with a perfect view of Arenal Volcano from my room. Hot springs onsite which I was able to enjoy at times with no one else around. Short hiking trail (< half hour, no one else on trail). Breakfast is a buffet, but they made me an omelet per my request. Onsite restaurant was adequate and reasonably priced for eve meals, best meal was pasta with shrimp in red sauce served with parmesan cheese. They assisted with transport to hiking areas. Staff was incredibly nice, friendly and helpful, among the best in my extensive international travels. I had clear views of the entire volcano from my hotel room several days. This was my second stay here.

United StatesAC broke on the second evening, and despite the hotel staff's best efforts to repair, it needed a major overhaul. Fortunately it was not that hot, so we could easily sleep. A table or desk in the room would have been handy for packing, laying out gear, looking at maps and making plans, etc., for the next day.
Beautiful location at foot of and with a good view of Arenal Volcano. All the resort cabins, office and restaurant buldings, hot springs, swimming pool are surround by gardens with lots of wildlife. The first night at dusk there was an incredible amount of exotic bird calls, which I had never heard even in movies. We walked along their trail with headlamps and were surprised to see lots of fireflies all around. Restaurant ambience and staff were great, we had two breakfast and one dinner there. Better than meal in Fortuna. Best of all were the hot springs. Very therapeutic with many minerals and quiet and uncrowded, usually just my wife and I. Nice to have them available right out the door instead of having to buy a pass for somewhere else. We got to try the hot springs and volcanic mud at Montana Fuego as part of our zipline tour with Go Adventure, and there it was crowded and noisy with a bar and ~40 people. Also the water there was clear, like simply heated water with no mineral content, unlike Kokoro, where the mineral content was obvious.
