Breakfast was ok but not amazing, the staff were great. The beach was a little disappointing and there could have been snacks at the bar - even if just crisps/nuts etc. We waited an hour for food to be delivered! We were upgraded our first night - due to a maintenance problem - it was ok but for a 3 night stay not ideal and we couldn't get into our booked room until 5pm the following day which was a little annoying. My main issue was with the small outside pool on our balcony. Since the pandemic I think we expect slightly different levels of cleanliness - we stayed in 4 hotels of similar quality in Costa Rica, 2 others had outside bath/pool - both of them were emptied and cleaned between guests. Sadly the pool at Les Altos wasn't and although it was cleaned daily there was no filter system that I could see working and the water didn't move giving an impression of a stagnant pool. I have thought about writing this but I think at the price point emptying the pool between guests isn't too much to ask, and if others are offering it then a similarly priced hotel should follow suit. I really don't want to think I'm getting into someone else's dirty bathwater - needless to say we didn't use it. A shame as really it is the only thing I feel hasn't been thought through properly.

Andy our butler was an absolute gem - and went out of his way to help us with everything including dinner reservations. The room and comfort levels were really good, they are fairly new so to be expected - the bed was super comfy and the view quite stunning. The fact that Macaws fly past at frequent intervals is amazing and the monkeys are also quite a feature near the pool and down on the on-site walk - we even had a sloth camping out close to us for the first night! There didn't seem to be many people about but I think there were. The pool area is quite small but never got overcrowded and the food wasn't bad, service was good :)

The staff was not great at communications. The rooms need updating, as most of the places in Costa Rica. There was a smell for the AC. The lobby and game room was dark and dingy feeling.

Rooms are very spacious, great for families. The pool area was lovely. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Pool was being remodeled, it was not stated on the website. We chose the hotel because of the pool.

I thought it was weird that you rent an entire apartment but you still have to pay extra if you use every room in the apartment. if you rent the place you should get to use all of it.

One complaint and it has really nothing to do with the hotel, was that we had quite a fright our last night when a ginormous palmetto bug was hanging out on our bedside nightstand in the master room. 😳 I'm deathly afraid of roaches and it gave me a heart attack. There was only the one and it was properly disposed of in the toilet.

I traveled with my 2 daughters to the Manuel Antonio area for a week long vacation. We booked at Los Altos after a bad experience with another hotel/spa in Uvita, where we planned to finish our vacation. After an awful 1st night at that terrible place, I booked Los Altos for our last night in Costa Rica. We had come for lunch here earlier in the week at the Karolas restaurant and was impressed with the grounds and security. We left Uvita and traveled back to Manuel Antonio for a far superior experience at Los Altos. The staff, Teilin, Alissa and Kenneth, were all so welcoming and amazing! Our suite was gorgeous and HUGE....2500SF+. I booked and ocean view room on the 5th floor and the views are spectacular. The girls and I enjoyed sitting out on the deck all night after enjoying the pool and hot tub. We had complimentary welcome drinks at the pool as well. The breakfast was amazing! The best we have had at any of the hotels we stayed at this trip....4 so far. We are sad that we didn't book this hotel for the last 2 days instead of the one we stayed at in Uvita. The service is top notch, the grounds are beautiful and the apartment suite is gorgeous. Upon entering there is a wonderful scent to get the senses going. I can't put my finger on the smell of the room, but it reminds me of a spa. It's wonderful! Our last morning at the pool, there were tons of monkeys, some with babies. They came so close and were all over the lower pool area where the trees are. It was so incredible and just was the best highlight of our trip! Highly recommend this hotel!

    - breakfast is really poor for a 5 star hotel - entrance/lobby is not looking nice and every time you want to go to the restaurant or swimmingpool you need to walk over the parking. - there is a small beach, would be nice if there is a small bar and some umbrella’s there as well to make it bit more fancy

Booking suggested us to book two apartments for a 6 member family and that was exactly double of our needs. No one wanted to take full responsibility for this mistake neither the hotel nor Booking. in the end the hotel gave me a credit on extras for 50% of one of the rooms. Better than nothing but I believe that only full refund of one of the rooms would have been a fair solution for a problem that I didn’t have any responsibility.

I loved the privacy of staying in the townhouse section. Our view was unbelievable, and the room was very interesting in its design. Modern lines and floating stairs. Floor to ceiling sliding doors that would allow you to wake up and go to sleep in awe. The shower and water pressure were amazing! The butlers that we had were the best👌 so helpful and really took interest in our happiness.

It was disapointing as I have been chargeed in full, even though I could not come do to flight cancellations. All 5 other hotels that I booked for that trip, did help me to retrieve my money back. This one did nothing at all! They could have charged a penalty and give me a bit back. Nothing!

I’ve stayed at this property at least six times in the past 5 years with my two little pug dogs. and spent at least $5000 on stays at the property (never an incident). I haven’t been since covid and I guess they changed the rules. when showed up, Los Altos refused to check us in or refund the night I reserved. they were very rude to me saying I should have known the rules. How would I know about a rule change?

The price didn't meet our expectations at all, it was outrageous. it wasn't cozy and nice as we expected. There were smells of bad chemicals on the bed sheets and poor hygiene overall, the room was dank and stuffy, it seems like there was no fresh air for a long time and wasn't well ventilated.

We had a very negative experience, the only good thing was the guy in the front desk, he was respectful and tried to help, but unfortunately he couldn't do much.

This hotel is seriously overpriced and not 5* standard. Even booking as a couple you get given a 3 bed condo and are told you can only enter one room or you get charged $150 extra. The moment you arrive no one helps you with your bags. Nor when you leave. They don’t help you book taxis or show you the facilities. You have to sign a long waiver when you arrive that says you will get charged if you lose your pool towel or bring any food or drink onto the property from outside. Despite having a kitchen in your room which I guess is there for show. The restaurant and bar is expensive for disappointing food. We ordered two $10 glasses of Malbec red wine, which arrived ice cold - very strange. The food was bland and overcooked. If you do stay here, please leave the hotel to eat and visit the Thai restaurant next door (much nicer food and fair prices). The room wasn’t 5* standard clean, the floor was filthy, we had black feet walking in our room.

The location was good and the on site wildlife reserve which you can tour for free was beautiful. The massage which we paid extra for was also very good.
