Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was outdated but we expected this given other reviews, and the amazing value for money meant this didn't impact our stay at all. The rooms could be really improved with the addition of some hooks or a drying rack, in addition to the small towel rack and hook in the bathroom. There is nowhere to hang anything to dry and with the humidity, clothes end up staying wet and smelling. There was a very drunk person one evening, climbing dangerously across the pool bar. Security came but it appeared to be about something else as they didn't take any action. It would have been more enjoyable for multiple guests if this individual had been asked to leave.
Lots of different pools to choose from at the hot springs. Free lockers and pool towels. Absolutely amazing gardens which were very mature and filled with a stunning array of tropical plants. If you're a keen gardener then this is garden paradise in the tropics. Really cute trail through the gardens to take you to some different animals such as turtles kept on site. This hotel is literally at the foot of the volcano so the views are incredible on a clear day and there is a 45 minute hike/short drive up to a lovely viewpoint over a lake. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. Really delicious local breakfast with lots of options including some international foods. You can watch the tropical birds from the edge of the canteen if you sit near the gardens. Yummy food at pool restaurant and the Chifrijo in the main bar in the evening is incredible. The swim up bar is great fun and we enjoyed eating at the pool bar and spotting the lizards! The room and bathroom were very spacious. The room was clean and well tended to every day by the housekeeping team. Location is good to get to all the activities and only a 15 minute taxi ride from La Fortuna.

The pool was amazing, excellent food at the restaurant. Great drinks at the pool bar. The best part was the view of Arenal, the plants on the property and the calmness and cleanliness.

CanadaOur room was a little far from the restaurant, so walking down after dark on the narrow road felt a little concerning.
The room was spacious, modern, and comfortable, and the thermal pools were wonderful! We also really enjoyed the restaurant for a delicious breakfast and dinner.

CanadaAmazing place without the "huge resort vibe", the view is incredible, the hot baths were really appreciated after several days of hiking in Costa Rica. Moreover we absolutely loved the food for a reasonable price. We recommend!

CanadaThe food at the restaurant could be better, it would be better if they would keep it simple instead of trying to make it “fancy” The beds could be more comfortable, they were pretty hard.
The resort had many things to do, hot springs, spa and horse riding, lookout. The pool and slides were really fun for the kids. Mario at the stable was very friendly and helpful, he took extra time to explain information to us, he was very knowledgeable about horses. The lookout was great, we spotted a sloth and a toucan while enjoying the view!

FranceWe were in Costa Rica to experience the nature and wildlife....this hotel felt very much like a theme park. Our room was a 15 minute walk down to reception ( very steep to walk back up)although you can call for the internal shuttle bus at any time. There seemed to be a lot of single use plastic, polythene wrapped drinking glasses in the room, disposable plastic for drinks at the pool bar. I am amazed that they advertise the butterfly garden....it is a run down little shade house that looks like nobody has tended to for a decade. We saw two butterflies in it....you can see way more on any patch of roadside scrubland.
The location was good with a fabulous view to the volcano and out over the plains. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great.

United StatesThat at times the staff was short and not able to keep up with some of the messier and less considerate guests with their left drinks and food around the thermal spas.
We loved the convenience of the restaurant and the bar and the thermal pools. There was one night were things were a little messy around the pools and that made us uncomfortable (like guests made messes and there were not enough staff to clean it up). The pricing on food and drink was reasonable. The location felt peaceful and the room was great.

United StatesLos Lagos exceeded my expectations. The hotel grounds were beautiful and we saw so many different types of birds. The room was large and fit my family of four nicely. The best part of the hotel were the hot springs. They were amazing and so relaxing. We will definitely be visiting Los Lagos again.

United KingdomWe’re struggling to think of anything we didn’t like.
Our children liked the swim up bar, drinking mocktails out of pineapples, the pool slide and the hot springs. They also liked the bus that picked us up from our room to take us to the pool. We all loved the view of the volcano and the view of the room. I particularly enjoyed sharing my breakfast with a lot of beautiful birds.

SwitzerlandYou need to be aware that you could have a room far away from the reception area and it is very steep, so if you have mobility issues be aware of the many many stars up and down every were. It could be they took that into account and have special easier acces , I don t know but just wanted to point it out, but it s like that also on the trails too in La Fortuna, so you have to be fit, I m 52 and so glad I trained and lost a few kilos before coming, I didn't expect it to be that physical, I was out of shape so just be aware. The hotel has shuttles that can pick you up. So I think that are well organized, we were so lucky to have room 131 right next to everything, we thank the hotel so much for that!!!
