Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesEverything was better than expected. We came to CR for wildlife and hiking. There were many beautiful birds and coati right outside our cabin on the property. The cabins are quite secluded from each other and very private. We did not have a car rental but were easily able to make the short walk into town to the local grocery and coffee shop. The sidewalk extends from Los Pinos cabins nearly all the way to the Monteverde cloud forest reserve but there is a handy public bus that makes that trip several times daily. We were able to walk to the Curi Cancha Reserve and back. The staff are all just great and helped with transportation and local guides. I would come back to CR just to stay at Los Pinos for several days. Great memories.

Absolutely gorgeous log cabin style bungalows in the woods, can't beat it. Very well equipped bungalows, very nice and comfortable. Grounds were fabulous as well, nice nature walk on property. Great staff and location made it over the top in my opinion.

United StatesReally, everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked more from the experience - the cabin was great, the location was great and the staff were so incredibly helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to rebook again.
The location was amazing, located centrally in the Monteverde area. The Cabin was beautiful, with a great kitchen and easy hiking right outside your door. We saw so much wildlife right outside our cabin while enjoying the porch and hammock. The staff were incredible, gave great recommendations for local tours and booked everything for us. It was quiet and secluded but in easy walking/driving distance to the town centers and local restaurants. Such an incredible place to stay.

United StatesThe only negative was the steep climb up to Cabin 17. For people who have any breathing/asthma issues or just might not do well with steep climbs this would not be the cabin for you.
Beautiful cabin and lovely surroundings. The staff was so kind and helpful. The location was great for all the tours and sights were were interested in. We were also able to see birds and wildlife from our cabin.

CanadaThe only suggestion would be to add a few screens on the windows to keep out the bugs
The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. We were provided an upgraded cabin without asking at no extra charge. Great location. The cabin came with a great kitchen (they even had coffee). It was the only location that recycled and had a compost bin. They also had a farm on the property where guests could purchase vegetables and herbs for very little cost.

United KingdomThe location is amazing. The lodges (fincas) are situated in a beautiful wood on the edge of a forest, with a network of walking trials around the property outside the door. The fincas were very comfortable - great beds and lots of space and light

United KingdomCabin was very noisy when it rained (due to the type of roof) and there was no washing machine.
Huge cabin with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen with 2 hobs, microwave, kettle and other appliances. Cabins are nicely spaced out for quiet and privacy. Located about 10 minute drive from the cloud forest.

AustraliaCabin 6 was very quiet. Some cabins were closer to the road and neighbouring barking dogs. Ask for a cabin away these noises if you are a light sleeper.
We loved our 5 night stay at Los Pinos cabin no.6 So much wildlife just in the gardens and reserve near the cabins. Highlights include toucans, mot mots, capuchin and howler monkeys, agouti, coati and toucanets. Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location to restaurants and supermarket. Highly recommended.

CanadaNothing - we loved the accommodation. The cabin we stayed in was up a steep path so would be a challenge for someone with accessibility needs. There are other more accessible cabins however.
The cabin we stayed in was beautiful, secluded and well equipped for our needs during our short (3-night) stay in Monteverde. We loved that the cabins are so well spaced, giving a sense of being connected to nature and able to get a glimpse of the abundant wildlife of the region. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the trails and the view from the look-off (the trails are quite steep in places so good shoes are recommended). We loved the idea of getting food from the greenhouse although unfortunately there was not much available during our time there. The property is well situated with several restaurants and shops close by (brunch at Stellas down the hill was delicious!). Staff at the reception were very helpful, giving us lots of options for exploring Monteverde. We opted not to hire a car on our trip and Interbus dropped us up and picked us up at reception very reliably. We also loved the sustainability ethos of the place - one of the few accommodations we stayed in that had recycling and compost bins. This was the best accommodation we experienced during our two-week trip and would be a place we'd come back to in the future.

NetherlandsNothing! It was just perfect :)
It was the most beautiful place! We stayed in a small cabin that was perfect for our little family of 3. They arranged a baby cot and baby chair for us. It was just perfect with children. We had diner outside with animals in the most beautiful garden. The staff is amazing as well! They are so proud of their area and they should be! Very close by there’s a cafe where you can have breakfast with lots of choices. Also in the area there are enough restaurants and supermarkets. Can’t say enough what a great place this is!

United KingdomNot sure why but there were some noises on the roof overnight that get worse with the wind but that is what you get when you sleep in the middle of the woods, I guess. Overall insignificant compared with the amazing surroundings.
The bungalow was very good, modern and the kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom was nicely decorated. It is already in the middle of the forest so there are walks to do inside and we could see some animals (armadillo, agutis, birds...). It is a great place to relax and it is short drive from several places of interest. It is a walking distance from the village but it is a steep climb so hard to walk. But there is a cafe, restaurants and supermatket nearby. And also walking distance you can watch an amazing sunset with a view of the bay of Nicoya.
